Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Perry Yates didn’t really know anything about car brands, much like how most men don’t understand cosmetics or can’t tell the difference between shades of lipstick.

The reason Perry Yates had her eye on this car was simply because it had a large capacity and could hold a lot of things.

Seeing she still had some money left, Perry Yates also bought some water, food, and camping gear to keep in the car just in case. Of course, the most important supplies she kept on her person.

The first day of the game passed in a flurry of such activity.

Back in her hotel room, Perry Yates took out all the clothes she had bought that day. She continuously applied Ascension to them, then moved on to the food.

Having had her fill of chocolate and all sorts of sweets in the last round of the game, Perry Yates chose compressed biscuits this time—the savory kind that taste better the more you eat.

The compressed biscuits that had undergone Ascension didn’t change in size, but the energy they contained was several times greater than the original.

This way, she would only need to take a couple of bites whenever she got hungry.

Next was weapons. Besides the dagger she started with, Perry Yates had originally wanted to buy other weapons. However, she went to a prop shop only to find that all the props were unsharpened. Even the kitchen knives for sale were all ceramic. Their lethality couldn’t compare to a stainless-steel cleaver, and they were prone to shattering.

Besides, while it’s true that even a martial arts master fears a cleaver, a cleaver was too clumsy to wield, and its length was about the same as her dagger anyway.

Unable to buy a weapon she liked, Perry Yates decided to look elsewhere tomorrow. If worst came to worst, she’d just make one herself.

After packing everything back into her backpack, Perry Yates prepared to take a shower.

’After all, knowing this game’s usual tricks, taking a shower would become a luxury, or even an impossible dream, in the later stages. Better to enjoy it while she could.’

After her shower, Perry Yates walked out of the bathroom and lay down on the bed. She had just closed her eyes when she suddenly felt something was wrong. Her eyes snapped open. She leaped swiftly from the bed, ripped the covers back, and saw a green snake lying quietly on the white sheets, flicking its tongue at her.

Seeing this, Perry Yates instantly sucked in a sharp breath. Goosebumps erupted all over her skin.

”Go. Eat it.”

After calming herself, a vine quickly sprouted from Perry Yates’s fingertip.

The vine grew with incredible speed, soon reaching the green snake’s side.

Then, a vibrant bud sprouted from the vine’s tip. As the bud bloomed, a Cannibal Flower appeared. Catching the green snake off guard, the Cannibal Flower clamped down on its head. Then, as if eating a jerky stick, it devoured the rest of the snake’s body little by little.

Throughout the process, the green snake struggled violently. However, its struggles were nothing to the Cannibal Flower—not even enough to be considered an itch.

Although the green snake was dealt with, Perry Yates couldn’t get back to sleep. After all, even though the snake was gone, who knew what else might show up?

To ensure nothing else nasty appeared on her bed, Perry Yates planted a circle of Cannibal Flowers around it.

Then she had Dodder Seed vines cover the walls. Only after doing all this did Perry Yates feel a little more at ease. She closed her eyes, planning to take a short nap.

「The next morning.」

Perry Yates went to the front desk to check out. That’s right—she had decided to change rooms. No, she was going to change hotels entirely.

This time, she would stay on a higher floor.

’Before, she was worried she didn’t have enough money. But now... screw the money. Safety was what mattered most.’

After checking out, Perry Yates walked out of the hotel and headed straight for the car she had bought yesterday.

Just then, a panicked voice suddenly cried out from a short distance away.

”Help! Quick, somebody save me!”

A fat man holding a sugar figurine was running for his life, his face a mask of panic. There was no one behind him—only a terrifyingly large yellow bee.

The BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ sound was enough to make one’s heart pound in fear.

The other people around kept their distance from the man’s cries for help. After all, nobody wanted to get stung by a bee that big. As everyone knows, the venom of some bees can be incredibly dangerous.

A bee this huge... a single sting could probably be fatal.

When the fat man saw that no one was coming to help—that they were, in fact, running away even faster—he actually lunged in Perry Yates’s direction.

Seeing this, Perry Yates didn’t hesitate. She took a few quick strides, jumped into her car, and slammed the door shut, locking the fat man and the bee outside.

The fat man ran up to the car door, pounding on it with both hands and repeatedly shouting, ”Open up! Let me in!”

In response, Perry Yates stomped on the gas and drove away.

Only after she was far away from that spot did Perry Yates have the mental space to think about what had just happened.

’A bee that big is obviously not normal.’

She looked at the greenbelts along the road, shaded by lush trees. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Perry Yates felt that the vegetation seemed even more overgrown today than it was yesterday.

Even the roads were covered in sap secreted by these plants, which left green stains on the ground after being ruthlessly crushed by passing cars and pedestrians.

Besides that, there were also many dead insects on the ground, and even the corpses of some animals. Without exception, all of them had been run over by cars.

Seeing this, Perry Yates suddenly remembered something. ’I have the foreknowledge Skill. Even though I can’t control what it shows me, it’s a waste not to use it.’

Perry Yates pulled the car over to the side of the road, closed her eyes, and mentally chanted, ’foreknowledge’.

The next second, an image appeared in her mind.

It was a forest that blotted out the sun, stretching as far as the eye could see. Then came insects, all kinds of animals, and various species of birds filling the sky.

She wasn’t sure if it was because of the close-up perspective, but the insects, animals, and birds she saw were all ridiculously large.

’Wait!’ At that moment, as if realizing something, Perry Yates trembled. ’This isn’t a close-up. The insects, animals, and birds... they’re really that big.’

After this realization, Perry Yates sucked in a cold breath and slowly opened her eyes.

’I think,’ she thought, ’I know what we’re up against this round.’

’If that’s the case, then I have a huge advantage in this game. After all, I can communicate with plants.’

At this thought, Perry Yates instantly relaxed. ’This round, the advantage is mine.’

”I should find a place to stay first,” she muttered. Then she’d buy more insect repellent, animal repellent, and things like that.

She had used Ascension on everything she bought yesterday. It seemed like it was better to prepare a bit more. Better safe than sorry.
