Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 478: Chapter 386: Giant Training Plan and Messenger ”Lightning

「In the days that followed.」

Pegasus Knights, like flocks of returning swallows, constantly brought the latest war reports from Bolin.

On the sand table in the study, the red markers representing the Jade Swamp’s Demon Legions multiplied, nearly engulfing the blue line that represented the Black Water River.

”Lord, the latest intelligence. From the direction of the Jade Swamp, another Demon Legion the size of a battle group has finished assembling and has joined the offensive against the Black Water River. The pressure on the Eternal Giant Turtle’s defensive line has increased immensely.”

”Lord, yesterday our forces advanced fifty kilometers into the swamp. We destroyed three Demon Swamp Frog nests and one Rotting Skin Lizardfolk outpost, and killed...”

Raylo listened calmly to each war report, his finger gliding gently across the sand table.

The Elite Knight Order led by Bolin was continuously cutting new wounds into the vast, bloated body of the Jade Swamp.

The constant bleeding and harassment successfully drew a significant portion of the enemy’s attention.

However, what truly concerned Raylo was another piece of intelligence.

”Continue,” Raylo said.

The Knight quickly replied.

”Yes, Lord. The Necromancer Modi Caesar has made a move. This morning, two powerful Witch Demons arrived at the Bone Fortress being constructed beside the Black Water River.”

The Knight’s voice trembled slightly, as if he was recalling the unsettling scene.

”They... they began to transform the two fortresses. One of them suddenly collapsed during the transformation, and innumerable bones spilled into the Black Water River. But the other... the other one was successful.”

”Successful?”

”Yes, Lord.”

The Knight swallowed, struggling to find the right words.

”The fortress came to life! It became a... a hundred-meter-long White Bone Giant Beast!”

”The two Witch Demons are commanding this newborn Domain Level White Bone Giant Beast and have joined the battle at the Black Water River. The situation is still a stalemate!”

After listening, Raylo nodded.

’The Necromancer Modi Caesar... a formidable character, indeed.’

’Right off the bat, he sends two Witch Demons, plus a Domain Level War Giant Beast.’

’That’s a much more generous investment than I’ve made.’

”Very good.”

Raylo stood up, walked to the sand table, and firmly pressed a white game piece, representing the Undead forces, onto the banks of the Black Water River.

”Send word to Bolin. Tell him to step up his reconnaissance. I want to know about every single troop movement within the Jade Swamp, especially the whereabouts of that Catastrophe Level Thunderboltous Demon Serpent Avatar.”

”Yes, Lord!”

”Also, tell him he can ease up on the harassment tactics. The priority is to preserve our strength. Right now, someone else is in a bigger hurry than we are.”

On the board, the black and white pieces were now locked in a deadly struggle with the red pieces.

’And as for me, the right choice for now is to watch the fire from the other side of the river.’

...

The afternoon sun was warm and gentle, bathing Black Stone Castle in a golden hue.

”Hah!”

”Yah!”

Deep grunts, accompanied by the whistle of javelins slicing through the air, rose and fell in succession.

Over a hundred newly joined Hill Giants stood bare-chested, their bronze skin glistening with sweat under the sun.

They were arranged in several rows, following Kado’s demonstration as they conducted their javelin training.

”Keep your wrists steady! Power from your core! You’re Giants, not weaklings!”

Kado’s voice echoed across the training ground.

”Anyone who can’t hit the wooden target three hundred meters away gets only oat gruel for lunch today, no roast meat!”

As soon as he said this, the Giants’ breathing grew heavy.

They looked at the distant row of wooden targets as if they were staring at a plump, roasted ox.

THUD!

THUD!

THUD!

Row after row of heavy javelins whistled out with astonishing force, slamming violently into the distant ground and kicking up clouds of dust.

Kado walked to the front of the formation. He took a javelin and raised it over his head, his arm, corded with muscle, like a taut bowstring. He made no sound, simply taking a step forward, twisting his waist, and swinging his arm.

SWOOSH!

The javelin became a blur, striking a target three hundred meters away with perfect accuracy. The entire Stone Spear pierced clean through the center, leaving behind a hole the size of a bowl.

The new Giants let out a collective gasp of awe.

Raylo stood on a small hill in the distance, watching this scene with satisfaction.

’For the simple-minded Hill Giants, complex tactics are meaningless. Food is the best fuel to drive them.’

’The delicious food of Black Stone Territory is their greatest weakness.’

Over the past two weeks, thanks to an abundance of food and the guidance of Kado—their ”big brother” with advanced training methods—their progress had advanced by leaps and bounds.

After little more than a week, the Hill Giants had already grasped the basics of javelin throwing.

At dusk, a squad of Mammoth Knights arrived at the Giant Camp, pulling several huge flatbed carts.

”Lord.”

The lead Knight dismounted and saluted Raylo.

”Has everything been delivered?”

”Yes, Lord. The masters of the Valen Family worked through the night. The first batch of one hundred sets is completely finished.”

Raylo nodded and gestured to Ed.

Ed immediately blew a whistle to assemble them.

The Giants gathered around curiously, looking at the carts and whispering amongst themselves, guessing what new goodies their Lord had brought them.

Ed jumped off his horse and ripped away the tarp.

Under the sun, a dark metallic sheen suddenly flashed, making the Giants squint.

They were weapons with a ferocious design, yet possessing a kind of brutal beauty.

The shafts were a full ten meters long, made of hardwood wrapped around a Refined Iron core.

Double-Headed Cone Hammers.

These were the standard-issue weapons designed by the Valen Family for the Giants.
