Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 238: Chapter 232: Setting Off for Baisha Port

The ceremony knighting the Giant Dragon came to a perfect conclusion.

But the storm it had stirred up was only just beginning.

「Three days later, in the study of the Lord’s Castle.」

Raylo stood before a massive sand table, mapping out the situation and changes around his territory.

The stirring in the Jade Swamp, the expansion of the Black Dragon ”Black King”...

All of these were troublesome matters.

Personal Guard Captain Ed strode in, his expression somewhat grave.

”My Lord.”

”Go on. How many more ’guests’ have arrived?”

Raylo didn’t look up, his finger tracing a defensive line on the sand table.

”On the eastern trade route, at least five Mercenary Corps are loitering. They haven’t dared to get close, but they’ve been constantly asking passing merchants for news about the Sun Knight.”

”Also, our neighbor to the south, the Viscount, sent an envoy who has been waiting outside the castle for two hours. He says he’s here to congratulate you on gaining a powerful ally.”

Ed’s tone was full of helplessness.

These past few days, all sorts of people had been swarming to Black Stone Territory from every direction, like sharks that had smelled blood.

There were curious travelers, nobles with ulterior motives, greedy Mercenaries, and even fanatical scholars like Master Barnaby.

Sun’s every breath, every toss and turn, was likely being recorded and analyzed by countless pairs of eyes.

Raylo walked to the window and looked toward the rear of the castle.

The Golden Dragon Sun was dozing on the lawn. The afternoon sun shone on its golden scales, reflecting a warm halo of light.

A few bold children played nearby, occasionally stealing a glance at it, their eyes filled with curiosity and adoration, but no longer with the fear they had at first.

”We can’t keep being so passive.”

Raylo turned around, his gaze falling upon the huge map of the Continent on the wall, finally settling on a point on the southeast coast.

”Baisha Port.”

Ed followed his gaze.

”I promised Marquis Orlando I would pay him a visit. This is a good opportunity to get away and let things cool down.”

”I understand, My Lord. I’ll go make preparations at once.”

”No need.”

Raylo waved his hand dismissively.

”This time, we travel light. Just me, Sun, and the two little ones, Moonlight and Coal Ball.”

”As for an escort, arrange for four Griffin Knights.”

「The next morning, on the vast open ground beside Black Stone Castle, the faint light of dawn gilded everything in a soft golden hue.」

Storm Griffin King Baofeng already stood there with its head held high. It preened its yellowish-brown Iron Feathers and let out an occasional low cry, seeming somewhat impatient.

Behind it, four Griffin Knights sat astride their own mounts, their postures erect, silent as iron.

His gaze swept over the small party before him, finally landing on the colossal figure that blotted out the sun.

The Golden Dragon Sun was lying awkwardly on the ground, its immense size making everything around it seem minuscule.

Its draconic face actually showed a trace of human-like vexation.

”Do we... really have to do this?”

Sun’s booming voice sounded, tinged with a bit of uncertainty and a hint of resistance to the unknown.

”I’ve never heard of a Giant Dragon being able to change its size.”

Raylo didn’t answer, merely jutting his chin toward the large white cat that was watching the fun from nearby with its head cocked.

Moonlight padded over elegantly. It circled Sun’s enormous head once, as if inspecting a work of art.

Coal Ball poked its small head out from behind Moonlight, its beady black eyes full of excitement. It already knew something interesting was about to happen.

”Mew.”

Moonlight let out a soft, sweet-sounding cry.

Sun blinked its enormous golden eyes and looked at the little white beast, which wasn’t even as big as one of its claws. Its gaze was full of doubt.

’This little thing?’

The next moment, Moonlight’s body arched slightly. A silvery glow, as clear and cold as the bright moon, lit up in its pale gold eyes.

An indescribable, profound Magic Power spread out from it—formless and intangible, yet it seemed capable of twisting space and light.

Sun only felt a gentle Magic Power envelop it completely.

”RUMBLE?”

It let out a low growl of shock and uncertainty.

Golden light spilled from the gaps between each of its scales, only to be forcibly compressed back by that formless, silvery power.

Under the astonished gazes of the onlookers, Sun’s mountain-like body began to shrink at a speed visible to the naked eye.

One hundred meters, eighty meters, fifty meters...

The entire process was smooth and swift, without the slightest hitch.

Sun could clearly feel its bones, muscles, and scales being reconstructed under a wondrous Law, but this reconstruction brought no pain. Instead, it felt a warm and pleasant comfort.

Finally, when the light dissipated, the once-sun-blotting, Tier Five Golden Dragon had become a ”Little Golden Dragon” about ten meters long.

Although still majestic, it was far more delicate compared to its previous form.

Sun moved its body a bit stiffly, looking down at its claws and then flicking its tail.

An unprecedented sense of novelty washed over it.

Its power hadn’t diminished, but its body had shrunk by more than ten times.

It raised its head and looked at the large white cat that had already leaped onto Raylo’s shoulder and was now licking its paws. For the first time, its enormous golden eyes showed astonishment and admiration.

Raylo scratched Moonlight’s chin.

He knew that Moonlight’s ability was still a far cry from Sun’s power. Otherwise, given Moonlight’s personality, it probably would have transformed Sun into a big cat as well.

’And most likely a big orange one.’

Moonlight had only shrunk the Golden Dragon Sun’s body proportionally, clearly because its Magic Ability was not yet sufficient to completely control a Tier Five Domain Level Magical Beast.

”Move out!”

Raylo gave the order.

”SCREE!”

Baofeng let out a high-pitched cry, gave a powerful flap of its wings, and shot into the sky, kicking up a strong gust of air.

The four Griffin Knights followed close behind, forming a standard diamond-shaped escort formation.

Sun let out an excited dragon’s roar, stretched its now much smaller wings, and followed along with ease.

Its smaller size made its flight much more agile and swift.

The party sped toward the southwest.

High in the sky, the wind howled.

Raylo’s gaze went past Baofeng’s head to Sun, who was flying alongside them.

In the sunlight, its miniature Golden Scale Armor was still dazzling.

At some point, the two big cats, Moonlight and Coal Ball, had jumped onto Sun’s broad back.

By now, the two little ones were having the time of their lives.

Moonlight seemed very interested in Sun’s glittering golden Dragon Horn. It crouched beside one, wrapping its fluffy paws around it as if to feel the Giant Dragon’s Magic Power within.

After feeling it for a moment, Moonlight seemed to have an epiphany. With a wave of its little paw, a gleam of golden magic light appeared, and an eggshell-like golden magic shield materialized, enveloping its small body.
