Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 205: Chapter 199: Capturing Karachi

Raylo, riding Baofeng, grew closer and closer. What was once a blurry speck of light rapidly magnified into a majestic Griffin exuding a terrifying aura.

The dozen or so Personal Guard Knights still with Karachi exchanged a look, each seeing the grim resolve in the other’s eyes.

”For the Kingdom! For His Highness Prince!”

One Knight roared, yanking hard on his reins. He wheeled his Pegasus around and charged toward Raylo and Baofeng.

”Stop him!”

The other Knights quickly followed his lead, forming a fragile barrier. They intended to use their own bodies to buy the Prince even a few seconds of escape time.

Raylo watched these loyal Knights, who were charging to their deaths without fear, but felt not the slightest ripple of emotion.

On the battlefield, everyone serves their own master. There is only life and death.

”Baofeng.”

He simply uttered a single word.

The Storm Griffin King didn’t even use its claws or beak. It just gave a mighty downward flap of its wings!

WHOOSH!

A terrifying, visible wall of pressure instantly formed—a massive, cyan wall of wind that slammed forward.

The charging Pegasus Knights slammed into it as if they had hit an invisible mountain.

Their mounts let out mournful cries amidst the violent currents, instantly losing their balance. Both Knight and Pegasus were sent tumbling down like kites with their strings cut, scattered to the winds.

In a single moment, Karachi’s final shield was crushed with devastating ease.

After all, a Pegasus is merely a Tier One Magical Beast. It stood no chance against the Tier Four Magical Beast, the Storm Griffin King.

In that instant, the distance between them closed to less than twenty meters.

Raylo could clearly see the Prince of Karachi’s face, twisted in absolute terror.

”Run! Just run!”

Karachi had completely broken down, driven by nothing but the instinct to survive.

A cold smile touched Raylo’s lips.

He gently patted his chest, where Coal Ball’s little head was poking out. It was the little guy’s first time on such an exciting chase, and its big, dark eyes were wide with curiosity and excitement.

”Coal Ball, get in front of him. Can you do it?”

”Chirp!”

Coal Ball let out an eager cry, as if to say, ’Piece of cake.’

Unlike Moonlight, Coal Ball was in that juvenile phase of wanting to show off. The little guy was always eager to prove its abilities.

It was far more proactive than Moonlight.

The next moment, a strange spatial fluctuation radiated out from Coal Ball.

Raylo felt the scenery before him twist, as if he were looking at the world through water. The very space around them seemed to thicken.

Baofeng, seemingly unaccustomed to the sensation, let out a low growl.

Then, as if they had passed through a thin membrane, the scene before them suddenly cleared.

The whistling tailwind was now a headwind.

They had appeared in front of Karachi and his Fiery Sun Golden Eagle.

Karachi’s scream died in his throat. His pupils constricted as he stared, watching Raylo and the Storm Griffin King materialize out of thin air on his escape path, like the Grim Reaper come to claim its due.

’What is this?’

’Space Magic?’

He had no time to think. Survival instincts spurred the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle beneath him to let out an enraged screech.

As a Tier Four Magical Beast, it had a pride of its own.

Facing the obstacle that was Baofeng, it snapped open its golden beak and spat out a highly condensed, basketball-sized Fireball. Searing with intense heat, it shot straight for Baofeng’s face.

”A parlor trick.”

Raylo snorted.

Baofeng swept its wings forward, conjuring a violent gale.

The moment the shockingly powerful Fireball hit the gale, it was torn to shreds by the wind, disintegrating into a shower of sparks that failed to touch a single one of Baofeng’s feathers.

The gale did not subside. Instead, it intensified, forming a massive cage of wind that trapped the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle.

Countless tiny Wind Blades raged within the gale, striking the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle’s hard feathers with a series of sharp PINGs and CLANGs.

The Fiery Sun Golden Eagle cried out in pain, growing even more frenzied. Relying on its thick hide, it ignored the slicing Wind Blades and lunged at Baofeng, claws extended.

The two powerful Tier Four Flying Magical Beasts engaged in a primal, bloody struggle in the sky.

Talons clashed against talons, beaks against beaks. Every impact resounded with a heavy thud.

For a time, golden and tawny feathers, mixed with droplets of blood, filled the air.

Karachi was thrown about on the eagle’s back until he was completely disoriented, his face as pale as a sheet.

He knew that while his mount was ferocious, the Storm Griffin King it faced had a superior bloodline and greater Power. Defeat was only a matter of time.

Raylo sat steadily on Baofeng’s back, allowing his mount to battle the enemy. He didn’t even draw his sword.

He watched with detached interest, as if enjoying a play.

His gaze fell upon the large white cat perched on Baofeng’s head, which was watching the spectacle with equal fascination.

”Moonlight,”

he called out softly.

The large white cat gave a lazy yawn, seemingly unimpressed by such a minor skirmish.

But for a small matter like this, the proud creature would still humor Raylo.

An almost imperceptible silver light flashed in its pale golden eyes.

The next second, something strange happened.

Beside Baofeng, who was locked in combat with the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle, the air shimmered, and another identical Storm Griffin King materialized out of thin air!

This ”Storm Clone” was silent, yet it possessed the same terrifying aura as the real Baofeng. Its timing was impeccable, appearing at the exact moment the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle swiped its talons at Baofeng, exposing its flank.

SCHLICK!

The clone’s talons, quick as Lightning, sank viciously into the base of the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle’s wing.

”SCREEE!”

The Fiery Sun Golden Eagle let out a horrifying shriek. A massive, bone-deep gash had been torn open at the base of its wing, and blood gushed out like a waterfall.

The searing pain caused it to lose its balance instantly, its massive body tumbling violently through the air.

’It’s over.’

The real Baofeng let out a triumphant cry and, with a flap of its wings, prepared to dive and seize its prey.

However, at that moment, the grievously wounded Fiery Sun Golden Eagle managed to stabilize its tumbling body.

Knowing escape was impossible, Karachi steered the barely stabilized Fiery Sun Golden Eagle into a steep dive toward a small, nameless castle below.

”Trying to run?”

Raylo raised an eyebrow.

”Coal Ball, directly above it!”

With its first attempt as practice, Coal Ball’s Casting was noticeably more adept this time.

The spatial fluctuation was fleeting, causing almost no discomfort.

Raylo and Baofeng vanished, reappearing the next instant directly above the plummeting Fiery Sun Golden Eagle.

It was a perfect blind spot.

The Fiery Sun Golden Eagle had no time to react, sensing only a shadow falling over it.

A cold, murderous light gleamed in Baofeng’s eyes. It folded its wings, its entire body plummeting like a Meteorite, using Gravity to slam down with vicious force.

Its massive talons, strong enough to rip through steel, latched with unerring precision onto the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle’s vulnerable neck.

CRACK!

A sickening crack of bone echoed through the sky.

The Fiery Sun Golden Eagle’s cry was cut short. The fierce light in its golden eyes vanished, replaced by a dull gray.

Its massive body, now lifeless, plummeted toward the ground like a stone.

Baofeng’s single, fatal blow had snapped its neck.

At the same time, its other talon shot out like Lightning, snatching the falling Karachi from mid-air.

The sharp tips of its talons scraped harshly against his Armor, holding him fast in the air.

”No... Don’t kill me...”

Karachi trembled uncontrollably.

He looked up at the cold, bestial eyes and, beyond them, the young, indifferent face of his captor. All resistance drained out of him.

Just then, the Storm Griffin Knights from behind finally caught up.

”Take the trophy.”

Raylo ordered.

”Yes, my lord!”

One of the Knights responded at once, steering his Storm Griffin into a dive to retrieve the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle’s corpse.
