Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 162: Chapter 156: Harvest at Golden Wheat Castle

Rogge closed his eyes.

But the anticipated pain never came. Instead, he heard the sound of metal clattering to the ground.

He opened his eyes to see his Long Sword lying on the ground. The tip of his opponent’s sword was poised steadily before his throat, and the cold touch made the hair on his neck stand on end.

”Surrender, or die.”

The Knight’s icy voice rang out.

Rogge looked at the devastated castle and listened to the distant cries of women and children. His straight spine slumped.

”I... surrender.”

The Knight retracted his sword and gestured with his chin toward the Weapon on the ground.

”Have your men lay down their Weapons and assemble in the square.”

Ten minutes later, Golden Wheat Castle was completely conquered.

Ed, along with a few officers, escorted the dejected Knight Rogge before Raylo.

”My lord, the castle has been cleared. We’ve captured three hundred and forty-seven defenders.”

Raylo nodded, his gaze falling upon Knight Rogge.

”You’re a good Knight.”

Knight Rogge lifted his head, his eyes filled with humiliation and resentment.

”Winner takes all. There’s nothing more to say.”

”Very good.”

Raylo paid them no more mind.

”Ed, clean up the battlefield. We don’t have much time.”

”Yes, sir!”

Ed gave a wave, and the Knights immediately sprang into action.

They stormed the main keep and the homes of the wealthy townsfolk, carrying out everything of value.

Gold Coins, jewels, Magic Crystals, exquisite works of art, fine silks... Soon, a small mountain of riches was piled up in the castle square.

The soldiers stared at the mountain of wealth, their breathing growing heavy, their eyes filled with greed and excitement.

Thor was even more direct. He kicked open the door to the main keep’s cellar, hoisted two barrels of fine ale onto his shoulders, and laughed heartily.

”War is still the fastest way to get rich!”

After just a few battles, the fellow’s Barbarian Race habits were already showing.

The entire process, from discovering the castle to finishing the plunder, took less than thirty minutes in total.

Count Gao Wen rode his horse over to Raylo’s side. Looking at the chaotic scene and the frenzied soldiers in the square, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

”Well done, Raylo! These noble lords of the Fiery Sun Kingdom have been cooped up in their comfortable nests for so long, they’ve forgotten how to fight!”

he exclaimed with emotion.

Raylo calmly watched as a Knight violently tore down the ”Golden Wheat Ears” banner and tossed it into a fire.

”Clear the battlefield! All spoils of war are to be gathered in the square!”

Ed directed the soldiers to quickly clear out the entirety of Golden Wheat Castle.

The Knights skillfully carried out their orders, stripping Armor and Weapons from the corpses and untying the money pouches from the prisoners one by one.

The homes of the wealthy were ransacked, and anything of value was mercilessly carried out.

Soon, the small mountain of gold, silver, and jewels in the square grew even taller.

The real prize was the castle’s granary.

The Golden Wheat Ears territory was a famous grain-producing region in the Fiery Sun Kingdom. When the doors of the two enormous granaries were battered open, revealing mountains of golden wheat that seemed ready to spill out, even the Knights, who were accustomed to seeing treasure, couldn’t help but gasp in amazement.

”We’ve struck it rich! This is enough grain to feed our Black Stone Territory for a year!”

Raylo waved his hand, signaling for the logistics unit to begin transport.

The ”Minister of Logistics,” Coal Ball, was also dragged out to work.

At first, Coal Ball was relatively cooperative.

But once the ”high-value” items like gold, jewels, and Magic Crystal Weapons were loaded, it came time for the bulky, low-value common goods—especially the tons of wheat. The Space Young Dragon was clearly not happy.

Its small body gave a deliberate, reluctant squirm, and the speed at which its claws collected the grain grew slower and slower.

It even snorted two faint wisps of black smoke from its nostrils to express its dissatisfaction.

”What’s this? Does our Minister of Logistics have an objection?”

Raylo’s voice drifted over leisurely.

Coal Ball immediately shook its head like a rattle drum, but it did nothing to hide the aggrieved expression on its face that clearly said, ’I am a noble Space Dragon, not a mobile granary.’

Standing to the side, Moonlight licked its paws, a hint of mischievousness in its pale gold eyes as it watched the show.

Raylo chuckled. With a flick of his wrist, a faint light flashed from a Storage Ring.

In the next second, a giant hind leg—larger than Coal Ball’s entire body, roasted to a greasy, golden-brown, and radiating a rich, meaty aroma—appeared out of thin air.

”The hind leg of a Tier Four Wind Flying Dragon, roasted for a full three hours.”

An overpowering aroma instantly enveloped the entire square.

Coal Ball’s eyes shot wide open. Its head, which had been shaking moments before, froze in place. Its small nostrils twitched repeatedly, and drool nearly dripped from the corner of its mouth.

So-called Giant Dragon pride crumbled in an instant before the fragrant, roasted dragon leg.

Coal Ball stopped collecting the goods with its claws. Instead, it opened its mouth and created a spatial rift in front of it.

A powerful suction force emerged from the rift, and the gleaming golden wheat began to ”flow” into it like a river.

Clearly, the little guy had been holding back.

In less than ten minutes, the two large granaries were completely emptied.

Satisfied, Raylo tossed the roasted dragon leg to it.

Coal Ball snatched it in one bite. Its tiny body dragged the enormous roasted leg as it scurried into a corner, let out a happy ”AWOO,” and began to feast.

Moonlight appeared beside it and pinned its small, dark head with a paw.

Coal Ball let out an aggrieved whimper, retreated to the side, and shared half of the delicacy with the great Moonlight.

”My lord, the inventory is complete.”

Ed came forward and handed him a list.

”We have captured forty-three Knights, including Knight Rogge, a Tier Two Peak Knight. Three hundred and four regular soldiers. We’ve also seized over thirty thousand Golden Dragon coins, hundreds of crates of various jewels and artworks, and enough wheat to feed five thousand people for a year and a half...”

Raylo took the list and glanced over it, his eyes finally settling on the number of forty-three Knights.

These were the most valuable spoils of this operation.

Training a qualified Knight required a vast amount of time, money, and resources. Capturing and recruiting them directly was undoubtedly a shortcut.

The core of his army had to be a main force trained by Black Stone Territory itself, but for rapid expansion, these defeated soldiers whose wills had been broken were the best supplement.

”Pass down the order.”

”We rest for one hour, then we move out. Prepare flammables. We burn this castle down when we leave.”

”Yes, my lord!”

Ed accepted the order.

There is no mercy in war.

Putting this castle to the torch would completely destroy the enemy’s logistical point and their will to resist. More importantly, it would intimidate the surrounding nobles who were still watching from the sidelines.

An hour later, Raylo’s army disappeared over the horizon.

Behind them, Golden Wheat Castle was engulfed in a raging inferno. Black smoke mingled with sparks billowed toward the heavens, dyeing half the sky an ominous, dark red.

The Golden Wheat Ears banner, a symbol of harvest and wealth, curled and blackened in the Blazing Flame before finally turning to ash.
