Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 278: Chapter 278: None of Them are Disciplined

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but remember when Sanlang injured his leg. The village folks said Sanlang hurt himself wickedly by colliding with something in the mountains. As a result, Bai Yibo was so scared that initially, he did not want to go to the mountains to carry Sanlang and insisted someone from Bai Ruozhu’s family go to the mountains. He finally gave in and went with Bai Yihong, but he was terrified, slipping several times on the way, making Sanlang’s injuries more severe.

At that time, Bai Ruozhu’s family was discussing how selfish and timid Bai Yibo was. Now it seems that Bai Yibo also has his courageous moments. Bai Ruozhu couldn’t figure out why he could risk his life for the widow Zhou when he thought only of himself when it came to his son. Could this widow be more important than his biological son?

Perhaps this is true love, Bai Ruozhu thought with a twitch of the corners of her mouth.

Seeing Bai Yibo draw his knife, Bai Lu’s face turned pale. As soon as Wang Chen’s wife calmed down a bit, he hurriedly said to Bai Yibo, ”YoBo, quickly put down your knife. You just earned some reputation, don’t ruin your future by hurting someone.”

At this moment, the widow Zhou standing behind Bai Yibo glanced at him, as if the ”future” mentioned by Bai Lu moved her. She pursed her lips slightly and gently tugged at Bai Yibo’s clothes from behind, speaking softly, ”Yibo, don’t be impulsive, it’s not worth it to get into trouble for me. Put your knife away.”

Bai Yibo was already a little worried from what Bai Lu said, but after hearing the words of widow Zhou, he defiantly lifted his knife and said, ”No matter what, I have to protect you and your child. Otherwise, how am I a man?”

Bai Ruozhu almost burst into laughter—did Bai Yibo finally realize that he wasn’t acting like a man? What happened to him before?

She glanced again at the Widow Zhou, squinting her eyes. This widow was not simple—if she supported Bai Yibo in her feud with the second room, Bai Yibo’s status would definitely see a great boost.

”This widow is much worse than Wang’s family!” Lin Ping’er sneered, whispering to Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu nodded slightly. Her mother also understood.

If they could see through it, Bai Lu, who had lived for ages, would have long seen through it too. He glared at the widow Zhou, and said, ”Keep your mouth shut and go back to your room! Otherwise, I will throw you out of the Fengye Village. People like you are enough of a disgrace, disturbing the peace.”

The widow Zhou pouted, looking extremely wronged, as if Bai Lu favored the Wang family.

”Don’t fool me! It’s not the first time you messed things up in front of your house, and it’s not only the Wang family. If you don’t want to embarrass yourself, keep your act clean!” Bai Lu got annoyed with her squeamishness and blatantly yelled.

The onlookers also pointed fingers at widow Zhou. Widow Zhou bit her lip and looked wronged, her tears spinning in her eyes, but she never let them drop.

She eventually turned and went back to the yard, leaving behind an image of a woman who was resentful, yet enduringly strong.

”Uncle, how could you talk like that? Those are misunderstandings, Zhou is pitiful,” Bai Yibo couldn’t bear it and spoke up for Zhou, clearly bewitched by her.

His words just set off Wang Chen’s wife again, pointing and cursing at him: ”You useless womanizer, that widow has been tainted by many men, even the love child in her womb; no one knows whose it is. And you, the stupid one, wants to pick up her thrown away shoe and raise her child for others!”

Bai Yibo’s face turned red and then white from the scolding, but he still insisted, ”Mother-in-law, it’s better not to say anything else. The divorce with Wang’s family is a done deal. Don’t make it difficult for Zhou, or the situation will get out of hand.” Holding the knife in his stubborn hands, there was a slight tremor, making his stand in front of Zhou’s door seem comical.

Wang Chen’s wife was so angry at Bai Yibo, and before she could finish yelling, ”You, you rascal ...”, she suddenly fell back.

Luckily, there was someone behind her who caught her. Seeing her eyes roll back, the catcher yelled in fear, ”Auntie, are you alright?”

”Did Auntie have a stroke? What...What are we going to do?” Another woman nearby started losing her nerve.

Bai Ruozhu stood on tiptoe to get a better look and finally determined that Wang Chen’s wife didn’t have a stroke, but passed out due to a sudden increase in blood pressure. She would wake up after a while.

Seeing this, Bai Lu hurriedly shouted at the other members of the Wang family: ”What are you doing standing here? Quickly get her to the clinic in town without delaying the treatment!”

With Wang Chen’s wife gone, the rest lost their nerve and didn’t feel like bothering the widow Zhou anymore. They stuttered, picked up Wang Chen’s wife and left. But one of the women turned back and glared at Bai Yibo: ”Bai Yibo, you scared my aunt unconscious with your knife. If anything happens to her, we, the Wang family, won’t let you off the hook.”

No sooner had she said this, than she walked away. Upon seeing this, Grandma Bai hurried over, pulling Bai Yibo: ”YoBo, hurry up and put the knife away, so no one can see it.”

Bai Yibo had been somewhat scared what with the recent happenings, and only on being reminded by his mother did he remember to hide his knife. But he’d been waving it around for quite some time now, and anyone who wasn’t blind would have noticed.

Bai Lu, seeing that a fight didn’t erupt, breathed a huge sigh of relief. He then glared at Bai Yibo: ”I can’t deal with the issues in your family. You’ll have to resolve them yourself. But I’m warning you, if there’s any more trouble in the Fengye Village, don’t blame me for disowning you.”

Having said that, he turned to his family and said, ”Let’s go home and eat.”

Grandmother Bai rolled her eyes dissatisfiedly, muttering under her breath ”Disown, huh? It’s clear he never cared about us in the first place, and is now finding excuses to come after us.”

Bai Ruozhu, with her keen ears, caught all of Grandmother Bai’s words. She looked at grandmother Bai and Bai Yibo with scorn and told her family, ”Let’s go. Today is Dengdeng’s big day. Let’s go enjoy the festival.”

Everyone ignored Bai Yibo and the old lady and turned to follow back Bai Lu. Seeing them leave, the old lady cursed under her breath, labeling Bai Yihong as an ungrateful wolf, calling him a thankless dog who had run off to become a son of the Bai Lu family.

Unfortunately, her words were picked up by Bai Ruozhu again. Bai Ruozhu turned around and smiled at her, saying sweetly, ”Grandma, you should hurry up and check on your future daughter-in-law and precious grandchild.”

Lin Ping’er tugged at Bai Ruozhu and whispered, ”Let’s leave quickly. Who knows if it’s a Bai in her womb. Humph, they’re even willing to bring someone with such a bad reputation into their family, the morality of the Bai family is at stake.”

”If they were decent people, they wouldn’t have gotten involved with our Uncle in the first place.” Bai Zehao said dismissively.

”Both are indecent, it’s a disgrace!” Even the usually mild-tempered Bai Yihong had a concluding summary to offer.
