Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

”I’m not that powerful. The seniors spoke about it when they came back. All the students who came two days earlier in our class know about it. Wen and I heard it from Song Zhiqiu just now.”

After He Jing finished speaking, Xu Wen continued, ”There’s another piece of news. Song Zhiqiu brought a handsome man along. I heard that he’s even more handsome than Song Zhiqiu. I plan to bring our Jing to meet a handsome man!”

”You’re the one who wants to meet handsome men, right? You like to pull Jing along every time.” Ye Jian smiled and glanced at Xu Wen. Xu Wen, who was in her third year, had improved a lot compared to Xu Wen who was in her first year. She seemed to have changed into a different person.

In the words of the officer, she had been reborn!

Even so, there were parts of her that remained the same. For instance, she still liked to look at handsome men.

Every time she said that she wanted to see a handsome man, He Jing would reject her and reiterate that she had a partner and could not act this way.

Xu Wen had a partner too. This was a secret among the three of them.

However, this time, He Jing said, ”Accompany Ye Jian to hand over her phone first. Then, we’ll go over to look for Song Zhiqiu. Song Zhiqiu is treating us tonight. There’s a place called Rooster Restaurant that’s a few minutes walk from our school.”

They were just reporting themselves today. There were no other course arrangements. There was no evening study session either. In addition, since they were in school, most of them would have to buy something. They could usually get the admission slip to go out.

Ye Jian didn’t plan to go out. She was puzzled by He Jing’s answer.

He Jing, who had never gone to see handsome men with Xu Wen, was acting abnormally today.

He Jing knew that Ye Jian was meticulous. She must have noticed something. Anyway, she didn’t want to hide it. He Jing, who had lost a lot of weight, said generously, ”I broke up with that person. It happened around Spring Festival.”

Ye Jian suddenly looked up at He Jing. ”Why? You even changed your university preferences to get closer to him. It wasn’t easy for you guys to get together. Why did you split up?”

”It’s all because of his parents,” Xu Wen said indignantly. She pouted.

He Jing straightened her military cap and smiled faintly. ”His parents don’t approve of me because they think that he isn’t young anymore. I’m still studying. After I graduate, I won’t be in a hurry to have a child. You know that the elders in the village have a strong tradition. They aren’t willing to accept a girl who doesn’t plan to have a child in the next five years as their daughter-in-law.

Hence, they kicked up a fuss at home and even arranged a blind date for him behind my back.

”My sister knew about it and told me. I called my ex and asked him about it. Although he didn’t go on a blind date with the person his family introduced to him, he couldn’t go against his parents’ wishes. We didn’t talk for ten days. When I called home during the Spring Festival, my sister told me that my ex’s father wanted to strangle him with a rope and that his uncle hit him with a vine.

My family also advised me not to waste my time on him, seeing as his family is like this.”

He Jing told Ye Jian about how her Spring Festival went in a very calm tone. Although there was a faint smile on her lips, her red and teary eyes told Ye Jian that her heart was not calm.

”I compromised, and so did he. Thus, we broke up.” He Jing’s nose was stuffy. She took a deep breath, and the smile on her face became a small one. ”Maybe we don’t love each other deeply enough. There’s no other choice but to break up.”

Xu Wen lowered her head. She was unhappy about what happened to her good friend. Her voice was choked up. ”Why are there such parents? Why do their children have to get married and have babies early?”
