Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 799: Chapter 799: Taishui Sha

”When things deviate so strangely from the norm, it usually means trouble. The sudden opening of the First Ruthless Man’s tomb door... this is surely an ill omen.”

The Old Goat Head’s face turned somewhat gloomy. After taking a puff from his dry tobacco pipe, he tried to compose himself.

”Old Goat Head, can you stop fear-mongering here?” the Big Black Dog frowned and said.

”Fear-mongering? Humph! I’ve navigated the tomb-raiding world for thousands of years and never encountered such an eerie event. This place truly lives up to its name as the First Ruthless Man’s tomb; it’s filled with mysteries...”

The Old Goat Head puffed on his dry pipe—PUFF, PUFF—and said in a deep voice.

”I feel... like there’s no danger inside. Does anyone want to go in first and check?” a cultivator from the Demon Clan shouted.

”Humph! If anyone’s going, you go first!” the Sky-boring Rat huffed coldly.

In all his years of tomb raiding, it was the first time he had encountered such a strange event, so the Sky-boring Rat also didn’t dare to be the first to enter.

A figure flickered. At the entrance of the great tomb, the Sect Master of Yao Lingling suddenly appeared.

”Truly the First Ruthless Man; even his tomb after death is so full of mystery...” The young man took a deep breath and said indifferently.

His eyes were deep, like brilliant stars, as he gazed into the depths of the ancient tomb.

As the Sect Master of Yao Lingling and the strongest among them, he felt compelled to face the unknown danger and allay their fears.

The young man took a step forward.

”Sect Master, Heaven knows if there’s any baleful aura behind this door. For your safety, why not let others go ahead in your stead?” An elder suddenly appeared beside the young man, suggesting respectfully.

”There shouldn’t be too much danger. It’s just that I’m not particularly skilled in dealing with baleful aura. We still need the assistance of our Demon Clan brethren...” The young man smiled faintly, then suddenly stopped. He turned around and, looking at the crowd, said, ”Which of you brothers is willing to enter the ancient tomb with me first?”

”...”

The Demon Clan cultivators exchanged glances, each looking at the other, and for a moment, no one spoke.

This ancient tomb was too eerie.

Who knew what unexpected dangers they might encounter once they passed through that great door?

If it were just some baleful aura, that would be one thing.

But what if there were some foul, bizarre creatures lurking behind the door, ready to launch a sudden attack? Wouldn’t they be doomed?

The Sect Master of Yao Lingling, with his high cultivation base and formidable strength, might be able to evade it; but they, with their weaker cultivation bases and lesser strength, would find it hard to escape, wouldn’t they?

To go in would be to court death.

So, for a moment, none of the Demon Clan cultivators said a word.

The atmosphere was very tense.

「In the grand hall deep within the ancient tomb.」

Li Qikong witnessed this scene, slapped his thigh, and cursed, ”Damn it, this is infuriating! I’ve opened the main door, and these cowards don’t even dare to come in. What a bunch of lily-livered fools!”

”Haha, that just goes to show, your reputation as the ’First Ruthless Man’ is too formidable. It’s scared them all,” Ye Yun said with a laugh.

”I’m the master of this tomb. Surely I can’t personally invite these people who’ve come to rob my tomb inside, can I?” Li Qikong spread his hands, a wry, helpless smile on his face.

”Why not?” Ye Yun stroked his chin and smiled. ”After all, you’re a ’dead’ man now. No one knows you’re alive, so you don’t need to appear in person!”

”Benefactor, what you said makes perfect sense...” Li Qikong’s eyes lit up, as if an idea had struck him. He pointed a finger, and suddenly, outside the ancient tomb, a violent wind began to howl.

The gust of wind was so abrupt that none of the Demon Clan cultivators, including those from Yao Lingling, had time to react.

WHOOSH!

A fierce gust of wind swept all thousand-plus people directly into the ancient tomb.

SLAM!

The great tomb door shut instantly.

In the dim tunnel, only a few scattered Luminous Pearls emitted a faint glow.

However, even if the light was dim, it posed no real difficulty for these members of the Demon Clan.

They could use their Divine Sense to scan their surroundings.

However, the tunnel was still permeated with black Ghost Qi, which somewhat restricted everyone’s Divine Sense.

”We... we’re inside the ancient tomb?” Big Black Dog’s expression changed drastically. He gazed into the deep tunnel, utterly dejected.

This ancient tomb was too uncanny.

Originally, none of them had wanted to enter, but then a sudden gust of wind had blown them all inside.

”What... what just happened?” The many Demon Clan cultivators exchanged bewildered glances, unable to believe what had just transpired.

The Sect Master of Yao Lingling also frowned, and the atmosphere grew somewhat oppressive.

”Well, now! This tomb of the First Ruthless Man seems even more exciting than those other places I’ve been to!” Big Black Cat clenched his fists, his voice tinged with excitement.

His eyes shone like searchlights, continuously scanning the surroundings as if looking for something.

”Cat Brother, look, the door’s closed! We can’t escape even if we want to...” Big Black Dog felt a chill of dread, hurriedly tugging at Big Black Cat’s robe and whispering.

”If we can’t escape, then we can’t escape. So what? Since we’re already inside the ancient tomb, we should naturally explore it thoroughly!” Big Black Cat cackled.

BOOM!

A flash of light streaked by as a Demon cultivator, manipulating a treasure, hurled it at the massive stone door of the ancient tomb!

The magical treasure instantly bounced back.

The ancient tomb’s door remained perfectly intact, completely undamaged.

”Senior, what should we do now?” the Demon Clan cultivator asked, looking anxiously at the Sect Master of Yao Lingling.

”Since we’re here, let’s face it calmly. There’s no need for panic. Yao Lingling vows to stand with all our Demon Clan compatriots, through thick and thin!” The young man declared with a wave of his hand, his voice resolute.

He carried himself with calm nobility, radiating a powerful confidence in every gesture. Seeing this, the other Demon Clan members felt somewhat reassured.

Seeing their expressions ease, the young man smiled faintly. ”Within the ancient tomb, we will still need our fellow Demon Clan members experienced in these matters to deal with traps and baleful aura. If any strange creatures appear, my Yao Lingling Disciples will handle them!”

”Alright!” Old Goat Head raised his pipe, his expression fervent as he boomed, ”Even if you add up all the tombs I’ve raided in my entire life, none compare to this one—the First Ruthless Man’s tomb! Hmph, today, this old man is going all out to properly raid the First Ruthless Man’s tomb!”

”Well said!”

”With so many of us, how could we possibly fail to raid it!”

”So what if there’s even a Demigod...”

Old Goat Head’s words stirred the hearts of the Demon Clan cultivators, their blood heating up as they too began to shout.

Big Black Cat remained impassive.

He watched coolly, well aware of what these Demon Clan cultivators were thinking: they had raided many tombs, but a tomb as significant as the First Ruthless Man’s... they probably wouldn’t get another chance like this in their entire lives.

Now, the major power Yao Lingling had provided this opportunity and gathered so many experts in tomb raiding, making the prospect of plundering the First Ruthless Man’s tomb seem infinitely more achievable.

After the initial surge of excitement, everyone gradually calmed down. They took out various treasures, holding them defensively, and cautiously proceeded deeper into the tunnel.

”Careful, there’s baleful aura!” Old Goat Head suddenly yelled, raising the mirror in his hand.

POP! POP!

A series of soft bursting sounds echoed from the void.

Clumps of green baleful aura materialized out of thin air, taking the forms of various Ferocious Beasts. Unannounced, they surged towards the group like an unstoppable tide.

”HISS! What kind of baleful aura is this?” Big Black Cat sucked in a sharp breath. How could they encounter such potent baleful aura so soon after entering the ancient tomb, having barely gone any distance?

”Cat Brother, this is Tai Sui Baleful Aura!” Big Black Dog raised his mirror, saying urgently, ”Tai Sui Baleful Aura is ever-changing and extremely troublesome to deal with...”

He had barely finished speaking when he noticed Cat Brother’s expression change.

”Cat Brother, what did you see?” Big Black Dog instinctively asked.

”Look over there—what is that?” Big Black Cat’s eyes gleamed as he abruptly pointed into the distance.
