Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 628: Chapter 628: Silver Thread vs Black Thread

”Damn it! What on earth has this stupid cat been eating all these years? He has grown so much stronger! I just used the Star Shield, an heirloom of my family, to engage him in a physical duel, but we were only evenly matched!”

The Sky-boring Rat was cursing inwardly as it made its escape.

This ancient Star Shield was considered a family heirloom among the Drilling Sky Mouse Clan. There were seven of them in total. Because he had been collecting resources everywhere and making significant contributions to his family over the years, he had only recently been rewarded with this Star Shield to serve as an ultimate defensive weapon.

What surprised the Sky-boring Rat was that despite having consumed a red pill, increasing his cultivation by half a minor realm and rendering his physical body much stronger than before, he could only fight on par with the Nine-tailed Spirit Cat when using the Star Shield, the clan’s most treasured item. How could this not astonish him?

That red pill won’t sustain me for long. Once the medicinal effects wear off, won’t I become easy prey for the Nine-tailed Spirit Cat?

Therefore, after putting on a feint, the Sky-boring Rat immediately turned and fled.

”You coward, running away again?”

As he watched the streak of yellow light disappear before his eyes, the Big Black Cat helplessly swung the Black Shield in his hand, striking it against the dazzling Galaxy.

BOOM! With a loud crash, the Galaxy suddenly shattered. The powerful shockwave once again left the surroundings devastated.

The Big Black Cat sneered coldly. Activating a movement art, he flew from the depths of the ground into mid-air. After sensing the unique cat urine scent emanating from himself, he began chasing in a certain direction.

He could detect the scent of cat urine on the Sky-boring Rat as long as it wasn’t too far away. This was also the Big Black Cat’s secret tracking technique. Of course, this ultimate secret technique was not exclusive to him; it was something the Big Black Cat had learned from a black dog. That black dog was rather chubby with small eyes and an eccentric personality. It had a penchant for some rather unsavory methods of acquiring resources, such as ambushing others from behind or plundering ancient tombs...

Doggy, I haven’t seen you in years. I wonder if you’re still alive?

The Big Black Cat chased after the Sky-boring Rat from a distance, a nostalgic expression flickering across his face. The black dog from years ago had once helped him. However, their paths hadn’t crossed much; after they parted ways back then, they had never met again. The Big Black Cat had no idea if the black dog was alive or dead, as he had never heard any news of it since.

The Big Black Cat knew that the pill the Sky-boring Rat had consumed wouldn’t last much longer, so he wasn’t in a hurry. He merely tailed it from a distance, waiting for the moment the Sky-boring Rat would be forced to reveal its true form.

「Another direction.」

In the void above the valley, the Immortal Divine Silkworm’s avatar engaged the black humanoid monster in battle. Relying on its agile movement technique and elusive silk threads, the Immortal Divine Silkworm repeatedly repelled the black humanoid monster.

Meanwhile, the black humanoid monster seemed a bit dim-witted, displaying a strange confidence in the two black spears on its back. It kept using the spears in battle, fighting tirelessly despite repeated defeats.

”Master, this monster doesn’t seem very capable, does it?” the Immortal Divine Silkworm shouted.

”Indeed. Let’s just restrain it for now,” Ye Yun said helplessly.

Like the Immortal Divine Silkworm, he had initially wanted to see what other tricks the black humanoid monster had up its sleeve, waiting for it to display its terrifying black fur. Unexpectedly, after it evolved those two black spears, the monster seemed to have abandoned any intention of using its eerie black fur.

”Master, I’ll try to control it within a small area first and see if I can get it to use its black thread skill!” the Immortal Divine Silkworm suggested cheerfully.

Seeing the little fellow was still determined, Ye Yun could only nod in agreement.

HISS!

A silver thread shot out, wrapping around the black humanoid monster with lightning speed. The thread suddenly straightened, becoming taut like a steel spear with no bends at all. The other end of the ”steel spear” firmly secured the black humanoid monster, immobilizing it in mid-air.

”AWOOO!”

The black humanoid monster let out strange roars, flailing its limbs desperately, yet it couldn’t break free. The two black spears on its back suddenly shot out two trails of black light, lashing forward and forcefully stabbing at the silver silk.

BOOM!

The black spears collided with the silver silk, causing two deafening explosions, but they were powerless to change the silk’s state. The fine silk thread didn’t even tremble; it was unimaginably resilient.

”The Elder celestial silkworm’s silk is truly tough...” the Bloody Overlord Demonic Dragon said with envy.

”Let’s hurry up and cultivate diligently! Didn’t Master say that once we reach the True God Realm, the Elder celestial silkworm will gift us a strand of silk?” the Xuan bird on the carriage roof said.

”Mhm, mhm!” The Big Black Horse and the Nether Blood Green Wooden Dragon nodded almost simultaneously.

Ye Yun glanced at these few demon beasts, noticing that these little guys were clearly several times more motivated to cultivate than before. It seems a tiny strand of silk can indeed significantly boost everyone’s motivation.

BOOM! BOOM!

A series of deafening crashes sounded. As streams of black light fell, the black humanoid monster relentlessly attacked the silk with its two black spears.

”Master, look at this thing! Has it forgotten it’s covered in black fur?” the Immortal Divine Silkworm stared with wide eyes, saying in exasperation.

”Perhaps it has. Let it keep attacking for now. Maybe it will remember in a while!” Ye Yun responded with a laugh.

After a period of sustained attacks, cracks finally appeared on the two long black spears. Yet, the black humanoid monster continued its assault, leading to the eventual disintegration of both spears.

”Use whatever abilities you have left. Otherwise, you won’t get another chance!” the Immortal Divine Silkworm sneered.

”GRRR...”

The black humanoid monster let out several roars and flailed its limbs, but no new black spears appeared. At this point, it finally realized the two long black spears on its back were gone. After struggling for a moment, it grudgingly accepted this cruel reality.

SWISH! SWISH!

With a soft rustling sound, the long black hairs all over its body suddenly grew at an extreme speed, transforming into a vast black torrent that blotted out the sky as it coiled down towards the Immortal Divine Silkworm.

”Oho! The black threads have finally come out!” the Immortal Divine Silkworm chuckled. With a sudden opening of its mouth, it spewed out another silver thread. This silver thread, like a nimble giant hand, fiercely gripped the black torrent and soared upwards into the sky.

”What’s it doing?” The Big Black Horse stood baffled at the side of the battlefield, unable to fathom why the Elder celestial silkworm had made such a move.

This single silver thread merely bundled all the black threads in front of it without restraining their growth. Thus, after passing through the silver loop, the black threads continued to pour down from mid-air unabated, launching another attack on the Immortal Divine Silkworm. From afar, those black threads resembled a colossal black waterfall. Although it was constantly rising, it also fell aggressively, creating a scene that was both spectacular and eerie.

Quite the show-off... Ye Yun shook his head. It seemed this Immortal Divine Silkworm, after undergoing nine reincarnations, had become a bit eccentric.

”Master, I want to see just how long this monster’s black threads can grow!”

Gazing at the majestic black waterfall cascading from the sky, the silver thread from the Immortal Divine Silkworm’s mouth kept surging upwards. The Immortal Divine Silkworm suddenly felt a thrill of amusement and exhilaration. In its state of excitement, the speed at which the silver thread from its mouth shot towards the sky increased even further.
