Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 589: Chapter 589: Blood Spirit Yin Gu

He got what he deserved!

As Ye Yun followed Su Jinx into the living room, the corners of his lips curved slightly in an almost imperceptible smile.

Elder Liu might be able to deceive the Su family for now, but how could he possibly deceive Ye Yun’s Fiery Golden Eyes?

This Elder Liu of the Water Dragon Sect had long sided with the Zhao Family.

And that fellow, Su Water, had already colluded with the Zhao Family.

A conspiracy from within and without.

Su Mountain’s position as Clan Leader was now precarious.

After all, the Su Family Ancestor had been asleep ever since consuming the Divine Element Longevity Fruit. The family lacked its Sea Calming Needle. Su Mountain found it difficult to manage the situation single-handedly, and this was a perfect opportunity for the Zhao Family to exploit their weakness...

This sort of family conflict is quite common throughout history—brothers turning against each other for the position of clan leader!

Thinking of this, Ye Yun’s expression grew somber, and he sighed silently.

Both Su Mountain and Su Water were descendants of Su Qi, Ye Yun’s first disciple.

It was as the saying goes: the palm and the back of the hand are both flesh. He couldn’t choose between them.

Seeing Su Water collude with an external enemy to frame his own elder brother, Ye Yun felt that familiar disappointment of unmet potential, like iron failing to become steel.

If he killed Su Water, Ye Yun would feel he had let Su Qi down. But if Su Water wasn’t killed, he couldn’t be let off lightly either. He had to be taught a lesson he would never forget.

...

With a complicated heart, Ye Yun followed Su Jinx to the reception hall.

”Senior, please have some tea,” Su Jinx personally served him a cup of fragrant tea, offering it with a smile.

”Hmm.”

Ye Yun accepted the tea, took a calm sip, and then asked, though he already knew, ”What has happened to your Su family...?”

”Sigh...”

Su Jinx sighed, her eyes slightly red-rimmed, a hint of dejection in their watery depths.

”Tell me about it; perhaps I can help,” Ye Yun said with a smile.

Hearing that this great cultivator of the Life and Death Realm was willing to help the Su family, Su Jinx was instantly overcome with excitement, her breathing quickening.

Just moments ago in the courtyard, Ye Yun had held his own against Elder Liu, demonstrating combat strength far exceeding Level One of the Life and Death Realm.

With the help of this ”Senior” from the Demon Clan, the Su family’s chances of success would indeed increase.

”Senior, it’s like this...”

”A few days ago, my Su family discovered a Spirit Stone Mine deep underwater. The quality is exceptionally high. Unexpectedly, it attracted the attention of the Zhao Family, and they are determined to seize this Spirit Stone Mine...”

Su Jinx’s eyes glistened, tears welling as she recounted the entire sequence of events in a low voice.

”How high is the quality of the Spirit Stones?” Ye Yun asked casually.

”Senior, please take a look! I’ve never seen Spirit Stones of such high quality in my entire life!”

With a flip of her jade hand, Su Jinx presented a crystal-clear Spirit Stone to Ye Yun.

On the surface, the Spirit Stone looked like any other. But when Ye Yun held it and carefully examined its aura, he was somewhat surprised.

This Spirit Stone actually contained an extremely faint trace of Divine Nature.

Holding the Spirit Stone, Ye Yun’s gaze flickered like fire.

Even a minuscule amount of Divine Nature in a Spirit Stone would dramatically enhance its quality. Cultivators absorbing such a stone would find their cultivation progressing much faster. This Spirit Stone Mine had only just been discovered, so few knew of it. Moreover, cultivators on the Cangnan Continent were ignorant of Divine Nature. Consequently, these precious Spirit Stones had not yet drawn the attention of major powers like the Super Sects. Although such Spirit Stones were exceedingly rare on the Cangnan Continent, they paled in comparison to those from the Divine Land; the difference was immense. Spirit Stones from the Divine Land were suffused with abundant Divine Nature, far surpassing anything this new mine could offer.

Such Spirit Stones have never appeared on the Cangnan Continent before. Their sudden emergence suggests this Spirit Stone Mine might hold significant secrets...

Interest gleamed in Ye Yun’s eyes.

It seemed this trip to the Jiangchuan Dynasty would not be a disappointment after all.

...

「In the original courtyard.」

Su Mountain still stood there, his expression fraught with worry, unsure what to do.

His connection to Elder Liu of the Water Dragon Sect was now completely severed.

Now, who could help the Su family?

”Elder Brother, the Elder Liu I went to such lengths to invite was driven away by your anger! There’s truly nothing more I can do!”

Standing to the side, Su Water’s face was dark. He stamped his foot angrily and stormed off.

Su Snow also followed him out.

In the courtyard, only the solitary figure of Su Mountain remained.

A gust of wind blew past.

The wind parted the white hair on Su Mountain’s forehead, revealing deep wrinkles.

The old man, who had guided the Su family for many years, suddenly squatted, an air of profound despondency enveloping him.

Let’s check on the Ancestor!

After a long pause, Su Mountain managed to stand, stumbling as he walked out.

After winding through several passages, he entered a quaint, old courtyard.

The courtyard housed a pond where lush green lotus leaves floated and white lotus flowers were in full bloom.

Su Mountain raised his hand, casting a spell upon the pond. Instantly, all the lotus flowers vanished, revealing a lone cyan coffin floating on the water’s surface.

Around the cyan coffin, four small spirit-gathering arrays continuously drew in the Spiritual Energy from the heavens and earth.

Walking along the water’s edge to the coffin, Su Mountain peered inside.

The lid of the coffin was fashioned from semi-transparent crystal.

At that moment, a deeply wrinkled old man in green robes lay within, eyes closed, in a state of profound slumber.

The old man’s complexion was ruddy, his chest rose and fell faintly, and his heartbeat, though subdued, was strong.

Ancestor, why won’t you wake up?

This wasn’t the first time the Ancestor had consumed a Divine Element Longevity Fruit. Why would he suddenly fall into such a deep sleep this time?

Could it be... someone secretly poisoned him?

Su Mountain muttered to himself, a sudden, frightening possibility dawning on him, his face paling.

Gazing intently at the Ancestor within the cyan wooden coffin for a moment, Su Mountain dismissed the idea of poisoning.

The Ancestor was merely in a deep sleep; it didn’t resemble poisoning at all. Besides, the Ancestor was a formidable cultivator at the Fourth Level of the Life-and-Death Realm and hadn’t consumed food or drink for decades. How could he have been poisoned?

”Ancestor, the Su family is facing a terrible crisis! If you can hear me, please wake up...”

Resting his hand on the coffin, Su Mountain called out with deep emotion.

But no matter how fervently he called, the Su Family Ancestor remained in a deep slumber, showing no sign of stirring.

After a while, Su Mountain gave up.

He departed the small courtyard, stumbling towards the council hall.

The moment Su Mountain left, the Ancestor’s chest began to ripple strangely, as if an unseen serpent writhed within his body.

I didn’t expect someone to have made a move against the Su family thousands of years ago... Ye Yun sipped his tea, quietly observing everything.

Ye Yun quickly ruled out the ’mastermind’ theory. After all, Su Qi’s descendants didn’t possess the Divine Dragon bloodline, nor was there any apparent motive for a hidden manipulator to target them. The Su Family Ancestor’s body had been tampered with thousands of years ago; a tiny creature had been implanted within him. That tiny creature was a type of Gu, known as the Blood Spirit Yin Gu. It was a very mysterious Gu. One hundred thousand years ago, Ye Yun had heard of this Gu but had never actually encountered it. This was because the art of cultivating this Blood Spirit Yin Gu was said to have been lost for over one hundred thousand years. And yet, inexplicably, Ye Yun now perceived just such a Blood Spirit Yin Gu within the Su Family Ancestor.
