The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Cyrveth McCarty roared in great fury, his voice like thunder, echoing across thousands of miles, causing the earth to tremble.

The Saint of Thieves made no response whatsoever, disappearing silently as if he had never been there.

Cyrveth was so angry that he was on the verge of exploding, yet no matter how furious he was, he could not sense the position of the Saint of Thieves at all.

The Saint of Thieves might be relatively weaker in strength, but his movement technique and concealment were incredibly strong. Otherwise, he would have long been caught and wouldn’t have lived up to the title of Saint of Thieves; he would have been eradicated.

The Master of Path’s face was expressionless, his gaze sweeping over the spot where Snow Zane last stayed, as Eddie Olsen reached out, and a mist of blood floated up, converging into a number of Blood Beads, and eventually forming a pool of fresh blood.

The Master of Path casually pointed at the pool of blood, and it instantly seemed to come to life, while a golden splendor appeared in the void, a Void Compass with the blood upon it, turning into a blood-red pointer.

The blood-red pointer rotated slowly and evenly on the compass, yet it didn’t stop.

The Master of Path sighed, turning to say, ”Varric Combs has used some method to obscure the senses, and the Bloodline Traction Technique couldn’t locate Snow Zane either.”

Cyrveth McCarty was anxious, ”He stole my Heaven-devouring Altar!”

A glint of sympathy crossed the Master of Path’s eyes as he said solemnly, ”I’ll find a way to track him down. If we find him, I’ll figure out how to let him return the Heaven-devouring Altar.”

The Master of Path said ”let him return,” not ”take back,” because he knew very well how difficult it was to capture this Saint of Thieves.

Didn’t they see that the entire world was sealed by his Green Cloud Cauldron, yet the Saint of Thieves could still come and go freely?

There is no absolute Divine Skill or magical treasure in this world. If someone’s ability exceeds the limit of your Divine Skills or magical treasure, then you cannot stop them, defend against them, or their Divine Skill taking a different path can leave you defenseless as well.

Cyrveth naturally understood the subtext in the Master of Path’s words: as a fellow Quasi-Saint, the other might not necessarily fear him, and the most important thing was that the other was determined to escape, making it virtually impossible for him to catch him!

As for Cyrveth talking about exterminating the Saint of Thieves entirely, that was but words of fury—did he really dare?

The Heavenly God Sect disciples were always few, appearing and disappearing like phantoms, with identities rarely exposed; to kill, you have to at least find the other side first, right?

Even if you find them, would you dare to vent your anger on their disciples?

How many people are in the Heavenly God Sect?

How many are in the Skyreach Sect?

If the Skyreach Sect started to kill and hunt the Heavenly God Sect’s disciples, do you think the Saint of Thieves would not retaliate?

With so many disciples in the Skyreach Sect, how could they defend against a Saint of Thieves who came and went without a trace?

Cyrveth said gravely, ”The Heaven-devouring Altar is the prized treasure of our Skyreach Sect. No matter the cost, I must retrieve it!”

The Master of Path nodded slightly, a trace of chill flashing in his eyes.

Cyrveth’s thoughts didn’t bother him, but he was very angry.

As the Hall Master of the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain, Varric Combs showed him no respect at all, not only stealing the Heaven-devouring Altar under his nose but also rescuing Snow Zane!

The Heaven-devouring Altar belonged to Cyrveth; since the Saint of Thieves stole it, the Master of Path might not have been angry. One, because the Heaven-devouring Altar wasn’t his; and two, because it was too powerful—in Cyrveth’s hands, even the Master of Path had to be wary. It being stolen was a blessing in disguise for him.

But rescuing Snow Zane openly defied him, and that couldn’t be overlooked!

Cyrveth asked, ”How is Snow Zane?”

The Master of Path calmly replied, ”It’s nearly her dying flashback; even if she survives, it will be hard for her to fight again in the future.”

Cyrveth’s eyes brightened, ”Disabled?”

The Master of Path nodded, ”Yes, she barely advanced to the Quasi-Saint Realm, facing huge side effects by fighting there, expending fully on her Time Divine Ability, overdrafted completely. After taking so many of my sword slashes, recovery might be as hard as climbing to heaven.”

Cyrveth sighed in relief, ”That’s good, otherwise, with her ability, if she wanted revenge, it would probably cause big trouble. This time she sought a desperate fight, fell into our trap. If she doesn’t die, it becomes troublesome.”

The Master of Path’s gaze flickered slightly, ”Her last strike was strong; the Time Divine Ability is indeed the most enigmatic divine skill. If we were not attacking together with the help of the Innate Spiritual Treasure, I might have been hurt by her.”

Cyrveth agreed, ”Indeed very formidable, almost couldn’t hold her off!”

After a pause, Cyrveth added seriously, ”Although she is gravely injured, we must not overlook the pursuit. The Immortal Path holds countless mysteries, and even if she’s dead, there might be a way to resurrect her, let alone her being merely gravely injured. Once moved, pursue to the end, cut the weeds and eradicate the roots, leaving no potential trouble!”

The Master of Path nodded calmly, ”I will issue the Order of Ten Thousand Immortals, putting out a warrant for her, and have people guard the Domain Gate. In short, as long as she remains within the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain, I will eventually dig her out!”
