Capítulo 2040: Chapter 2040: He Has Made His Move!

“How far are we from the Celestial Palace?”

“Ten days’ journey.”

“What’s the situation now?”

“The number of the Battle Servant Troop has increased by about two thousand. Along the way, no one dared to resist…”

Sergio Wilkins looked up at the Pegasus Knight Leader in front of him: “Why is it only this much?”

The Pegasus Knight Leader respectfully answered: “Although there are many Sects along the way, these Sects have mostly been deserted, with no one left behind. Only a few who voluntarily surrendered are still waiting for us in place, so there are just around two thousand people…”

Sergio Wilkins sneered: “These people are still not giving up.”

The Pegasus Knight Leader hesitated for a moment and said: “Venerable, I’ve heard some rumors…”

Sergio Wilkins frowned: “Speak.”

The Pegasus Knight Leader said in a low voice: “According to those who voluntarily surrendered, they have received information that the Immortal Palace Envoy, Carson Flores, has already killed the Great Land Sovereign Tori Greene of the Three Saints Sect…”

Sergio Wilkins was silent for two seconds: “They said that, so do the rest of the Battle Servants know as well?”

The Pegasus Knight Leader nodded: “Everyone knows. They’ve been discussing it for a long time, but there’s no conclusive news. Some believe it, some don’t…”

Sergio Wilkins waved his hand, feeling inexplicably irritable: “Ignore them, let them talk. I’m here, who dares to cause trouble? Once we flatten the Celestial Palace, they will have nothing more to say.”

The Pegasus Knight Leader noticed the look in Sergio Wilkins’ eyes and his face showed a hint of peculiarity: “Venerable, could it be that Venerable Tori is really…”

Sergio Wilkins looked up, staring sharply at the Pegasus Knight Leader.

The Pegasus Knight Leader quickly lowered his head: “I’m sorry, Venerable, I spoke out of turn.”

Sergio Wilkins said in a deep voice: “That kid has a Great Land Sovereign with Space Divine Power by his side. Be careful when patrolling daily, don’t let that kid cause trouble. We’re almost at the Celestial Palace, he’s probably getting impatient to act.”

“Yes!”

The Pegasus Knight Leader dared not say more, bowing to take his leave, and then quickly departed.

As he exited the doorway, the Pegasus Knight Leader wiped his forehead with his hand. Just from the brief moment Sergio Wilkins stared at him, cold sweat had already broken out down his back.

Recalling how he nearly pierced through Carson Flores’ head with a single spear strike that day, and how Sergio Wilkins chased after Carson Flores, yet never spoke of the outcome, and in contrast, Tori Greene never returned.

Judging by Sergio Wilkins’ reaction, Tori Greene probably really was killed.

If that day, his spear had not paused and had blown up Carson Flores’ head instead, would the result have been different?

With these thoughts in mind, the Pegasus Knight Leader returned to his quarters. He had just sat down when a Pegasus Knight approached swiftly.

“Captain, something’s happened.”

The Leader turned abruptly: “What is it?”

The Pegasus Knight replied: “Two of our brothers are missing.”

The Leader asked solemnly: “Missing, what does that mean?”

The Pegasus Knight replied: “When we switched shifts, we found that they weren’t there, and they hadn’t asked for leave earlier… It’s as if they vanished into thin air.”

The Leader’s mind instinctively recalled the words Sergio Wilkins had just said, and his heart chilled.

There’s no way a Pegasus Knight would disappear without a trace, nor would they abandon their post without cause. The only possibility is that they were ambushed and silently eliminated.

“Lead the way.”

The Leader quickly followed the Pegasus Knight outside, where a group of Pegasus Knights were gathering, their faces a mix of anger and faint anxiety.

Their comrades had vanished without a trace; who would be next?

Could it be themselves?

The Leader scanned the group and asked: “Who is missing, and where were they stationed?”

One of the Pegasus Knights reported the names of the two: “They were in charge of patrolling the rear of the Battle Servant Team, preventing any escapes. We just went to switch shifts and found no one in the back, then checked the Lamp House, their Longevity Lamps were still lit.”

The Longevity Lamps of the Pegasus Knights traveled with the ship because they frequently went out to perform tasks. Observing whether the Longevity Lamps were normal could help confirm their current states.

If the lamp was extinguished, naturally it meant the person was dead; if the lamp was still lit, it meant they were not dead.

All the Pegasus Knights were Heavenly Immortals, yet to be silently captured without even a chance to alarm others showed how swift and quick their captors were.

“Increase the manpower, patrol in pairs, no lone patrols allowed!”

The Leader gave the order with a stern face, then turned again to Sergio Wilkins’ quarters, took a deep breath, and gently knocked on the door.

Sergio Wilkins observed the returning Leader, his gaze darkening slightly: “What happened?”

The Leader bowed: “Two of our Pegasus Knights have disappeared, their Longevity Lamps are still lit.”

Sergio Wilkins’ eyes narrowed slightly: “No signs of disturbance at all?”

The Leader nodded: “Yes, it didn’t alarm anyone, and my people inquired with the rearmost Battle Servants, who claimed they didn’t hear anything.”

Sergio Wilkins’ face was hard and cold: “He’s made his move.”

The Leader naturally knew whom Sergio Wilkins was referring to, and his mood was momentarily complicated.

Weren’t you the Dual Realm Venerable, didn’t you chase after him earlier, yet he managed to escape?
