She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer

Miss Han couldn’t care less about Hua Tianyou’s nervousness; her entire mind was on Zhao Zun now.

She considered that her feelings for Zhao Zun weren’t very deep; busy with her business, she rarely thought of Zhao Zun.

Yet at this critical moment of life and death for Zhao Zun, an indescribable anxiety grew in her heart, as if she were about to lose something most precious.

Riding the motorcycle in the night wind, Miss Han shouted, ”How much farther?”

Hearing this, Ping Chuan craned his neck to look at the lit area ahead, carefully discerning the scene before him amid the night.

”That’s Niuwei Slope over there. This wide official road is the necessary path for the Turkic army. If the Prince wants to ambush, he would definitely choose behind Niuwei Slope.”

Ping Chuan pointed at the hill not far ahead and answered loudly.

Having followed Zhao Zun for years, he was very familiar with the terrain within a hundred li outside the North Gate.

Hearing this, Miss Han glanced at the fuel gauge on the motorcycle. From Fufeng County to here, the needle had nearly hit the red line; it was evidently running out of fuel.

Using the motorcycle’s light, Miss Han took another look at the hill in front of her.

In the night, the hill stretched like a long ox-tail, resembling a mound in hilly terrain, not very high, with an estimated vertical height of eight to nine stories.

Refueling wouldn’t take much time, but if Zhao Zun and his men had already set the ambush, the roar of the motorcycle might disrupt his plans.

It’s possible it could even bring disaster to Zhao Zun’s two thousand men.

But if they climbed over the hill, it would take at most one hour.

Weighing her options, Miss Han finally decided to abandon the motorcycle and walk, climbing over the hill directly and quietly reaching Zhao Zun’s ambush site.

Once the motorcycle reached the foot of the hill, Miss Han immediately stopped and turned off the engine. In the darkness, the motorcycle’s roar stopped abruptly, and silence enveloped the surroundings.

”Why have we stopped?”

Hua Tianyou asked, puzzled, his heart in a rush.

Just over this hill lies Zhao Zun, and now Miss Han has stopped?

”Get off! We can’t ride the motorcycle anymore; we’ll climb over.”

Without an explanation, Miss Han ordered directly and jumped off the motorcycle first.

She surveyed the surroundings, listening intently, trying to catch any sounds of the army clashing in the night. But apart from the occasional night breeze and the sound of crickets in the grass, it was very quiet around.

This was good; it meant Zhao Zun’s ambush hadn’t started yet, and they should be able to make it in time.

Seeing that Miss Han didn’t answer, and Ping Chuan said nothing, merely following her off the motorcycle, Hua Tianyou reluctantly had to dismount as well.

At this moment, Miss Han took out a set of equipment similar to Ping Chuan’s from her pack and tossed it to Hua Tianyou.

”I’ll go handle the situation first; let Ping Chuan teach you how to put this on and how to use it.”

As Miss Han finished speaking, Ping Chuan stared at the equipment in Hua Tianyou’s hands with shining eyes, though his words were tinged with a certain acidity.

”Wow! Miss Han, you’re so generous.”

Throughout the journey, he had mastered using this equipment, not to mention its functions; he knew the material alone was undoubtedly expensive.

Moreover, there’s a handgun, a major weapon that could kill enemies from afar!

To give such invaluable equipment to Hua Tianyou, that pampered young master, isn’t that a waste of a treasure?

Miss Han raised an eyebrow, casting a glance at Hua Tianyou, while putting on a mask and saying to Ping Chuan: ”The opponent has two hundred thousand men; even if he’s a bit foolish, him learning means we gain another helping hand.”

”Oh! That’s true.”

Ping Chuan pouted, nodding.

Hua Tianyou’s heart was not in arguing right now, so even when he heard Miss Han openly call him foolish, his usual carefree self just glared at her without rebuttal. With Zhao Zun’s situation unknown, he had no mood for bickering.

”The motorcycle’s noise is too loud. To avoid affecting Zhao Zun’s operation, we must climb over on foot, hurry up!”

Ignoring Hua Tianyou’s disgruntled gaze, Miss Han left with these words, grasping an electric baton to go solve the problem. Meanwhile, Ping Chuan used the motorcycle’s light to patiently teach Hua Tianyou how to wear the equipment and handle the handgun.

Miss Han was right; even though Hua Tianyou as a helping hand wasn’t reliable, it was better than nothing.

Despite being clumsy, Hua Tianyou was still a man. Men naturally have a fondness and yearning for weapons and gear.

So, by the time Miss Han returned, Hua Tianyou, under Ping Chuan’s teaching, had nearly mastered it.
