She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer

Even the divine doctor says it’s troublesome?

Mr. Wei and his wife immediately became anxious.

”Divine Doctor, please, you must save my son!” Mr. Wei said with urgency on his face.

”Yes! Divine Doctor. As long as you can save my son, whatever conditions you have, feel free to ask.” Mrs. Wei also wiped tears from her eyes and sniffled as she spoke.

Upon hearing this, Da Jiu’s facial muscles twitched, trying hard to hold back his laughter.

Does he look like a divine doctor? They’re even calling him ’sir’. It seems the young lady was right; this family is clutching at straws in their desperation to find a cure.

Da Jiu appears to be in his thirties, weathered by years in the borderlands, looking older than his actual age.

On the battlefield, he faced all manner of challenges, and during the days spent with Han Lei, he even learned a word: calm.

After pondering for a moment, Da Jiu said, ”Your son’s illness has reached his lungs and heart. Medicine alone won’t suffice; it requires acupuncture as well. Moreover, this medicine cannot be stopped; it must be taken for at least three months. After three months, we’ll consider changing the prescription.”

Da Jiu said, slowly opening the wooden box in his hand, revealing a delicate white porcelain bottle inside. Da Jiu picked up the small porcelain bottle, poured a small green pill into his palm.

”This is my specially made elixir, capable of dispelling all poisons and curing all ailments.”

Da Jiu’s voice was calm and assertive, possessing an irresistible force.

Upon hearing it was the divine doctor’s elixir, Mr. Wei and his wife immediately instructed the maid to administer the medication to Wei Chengchao.

After about a cup of tea’s time, Da Jiu asked the maid to remove the cloth from Wei Chengchao’s nostrils, causing the remaining nosebleed to flow out, and miraculously, it stopped completely afterwards.

However, his nostrils had been stuffed with cloth for several days, causing them to swell and look like two large gate openings.

The nosebleed that numerous renowned doctors in the Capital City were helpless against was stopped by Da Jiu’s elixir. Such miraculous medicine left Mr. and Mrs. Wei stunned.

”Truly... truly a divine doctor!”

Mr. Wei exclaimed in amazement, with the worry on his face disappearing instantly.

”My son is finally saved!” Mrs. Wei cried tears of joy, covering her mouth with a handkerchief, thanking Da Jiu repeatedly. ”Thank you, Divine Doctor, thank you.”

Mr. Wei, that old scoundrel, has many sons from numerous wives and concubines by his side. Mrs. Wei is now old and has lost her beauty; if her son has any mishaps, her future days in the Prime Minister’s residence would be bleak.

Now that her son’s condition is under control, how could she not cry tears of joy?

Seeing the antidote’s effectiveness shocked them, Da Jiu finally contained his laughter and said calmly, ”All of you should leave now! I’m going to perform acupuncture on your son. If it’s not stabilized promptly, his condition will soon recur.”

”Yes, yes, we’ll all leave. Don’t disturb the divine doctor while he performs acupuncture.”

Mr. and Mrs. Wei nodded repeatedly in agreement and turned to leave, but Mr. Wei hesitated.

”Why... why does everyone need to leave?”

Mr. Wei frowned. It’s just acupuncture, so why can’t it be seen, and they need to be sent away? The divine doctor won’t have any issues, right?

Being someone who mingled in the court for many years, Mr. Wei naturally has a more meticulous and astute mind, allowing him to reach his position today.

Da Jiu anticipated that Mr. Wei would be hard to fool, so he had already prepared his response.

”The acupuncture technique I use is a secret passed down by my master, who decreed that it must not be observed by outsiders during the process,” Da Jiu replied, neither humble nor arrogant, making sense.

Mr. Wei naturally understood that skilled individuals from the folk have their own conditions when transmitting their skills.

Many ancestral techniques strictly forbade outsiders from knowing, which is reasonable.

But since it concerns his son’s life, he couldn’t be careless and wanted to ask more, but Mrs. Wei grew impatient.

”Oh! Why are you still being so indecisive? Our son’s condition cannot be delayed. You, you, all of you, hurry and follow me out.”

Mrs. Wei grabbed Mr. Wei’s arm and urged him urgently, afraid of delaying her son’s treatment. He was her heart’s treasure, the foundation of her life after middle age.

At this moment, Da Jiu looked at the two attendants and said, ”Let them stay to assist me. They can help.”

Da Jiu’s voice was calm and strong, without a hint of panic.

Upon hearing that the two attendants could stay and assist, Mr. Wei felt relieved. He waved his hand and led everyone else out.

As the door quietly closed, the room instantly fell silent.

However, Da Jiu did not proceed with acupuncture using silver needles as he had told them; instead, his expression darkened, and he suddenly pinched Wei Chengchao’s leg hard.

This unexpected action twisted the faces of the two attendants instantly, and they gasped in shock.

They grimaced and looked at each other, but dared not utter a sound.

Wei Chengchao groaned in pain, his heavy eyelids slowly opening. The eyes that once darted around the women now seemed exceptionally unfocused.

His gaze roamed over Da Jiu’s face, as if piercing through the layers of fog, finally fixing on this unfamiliar yet seemingly familiar face.

These days, he had moments of clarity, followed by confusion, as if experiencing hallucinations.

At times, he saw his concubines dancing gracefully like fairies, flying toward him from the clouds.

At other times, he saw the beautiful concubines transform into grisly ghosts with green faces and fangs, tightening Soul-locking Ropes around his neck, leaving him breathless.

”Hey! Are you awake?”

Da Jiu’s mouth curled in a mocking smile; his voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet room.

Wei Chengchao’s gaze fixed on Da Jiu’s face; he seemed to see one of his beautiful concubines smiling at him sweetly.

”Beautiful lady, why... why did you gain weight?”

Wei Chengchao’s voice was weak, his hand unconsciously raised, wanting to touch the increasingly alluring face in his eyes.

But as soon as his hand lifted a bit, it fell powerless.

Seeing this, Da Jiu couldn’t help but chuckle internally.

He could only marvel at his young mistress, who had managed to turn the Prime Minister’s son into such a wretched state—truly audacious. He had no idea about the filthy hallucinations playing out in Wei Chengchao’s mind.

Seeing Wei Chengchao still in a daze, he slapped Wei Chengchao on the face. The two guards beside him instinctively flinched, their facial features contorting, feeling the pain just by watching.

Smack!

”Little dance! Keep dancing if you can!”

This slap served both as punishment and a wake-up call. A faint handprint appeared on Wei Chengchao’s face, finally freeing him from his bizarre hallucinations.

Wei Chengchao blinked, his gaze gradually regaining clarity.

”You... why are you here?”

Wei Chengchao looked at Da Jiu in astonishment, his voice tinged with shock and caution.

”The young lady sent me to bring you the antidote! If I hadn’t come, your parents would have been preparing your funeral.”

Da Jiu playfully waved the small porcelain bottle containing the antidote before his eyes. Though there was no threat in his tone, the words sounded full of menace to Wei Chengchao’s ears.

Antidote?

Funeral preparations?
