Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1146: Chapter 1118: Tomb Raider Captain Chen Xiaoqian

Everyone reflexively looked over at Hu Zi’s shout, and he bolted up and ran, shouting as he ran, ”Come catch me, blah blah blah!”

This is straight out of a TV plot; in danger, shouldn’t you run to lure the pursuers away so the beauty can escape?

Hu Zi thought he was being very clever.

Qian silently lit a candle of sympathy for Hu Zi.

How did such a smart dad produce such a peculiar offspring...

Though his intention to protect her was good-hearted, this method was way too foolish.

Sure enough, there came a scream from Hu Zi outside; he probably hadn’t run far before being pinned down, and he was still protesting.

”Don’t press on my handsome face; the floor is so dirty and dusty—if I get a wound, how can I become a star? I’m going to be a big star!”

Though inappropriate, Qian inexplicably felt sorry for Hu Zi’s dad for three seconds.

She finally understood why every time Hu Zi’s dad chatted with Mr. Yu, there was always a tone of envy—he envied Mr. Yu for raising such excellent sons. Qian understood today.

”Kid, what are you up to?” Pao stepped on Hu Zi and asked.

”Move your smelly, athlete’s-foot foot off my back! I’m your ancestor! Ah!”

He got hit again!

”Pao, I think this kid’s got something suspicious going on. He even has a knife on him! Could he be here to steal?”

”We can’t let this kid leave; if he talks, our business is screwed. Overseas, there are bosses paying big money.”

”What? Pao, you plan to silence him?!” Xiaohui was shocked; he just wanted to make some money, not get involved in a murder case!

”Not necessarily, though what we’re doing isn’t good, it’s not as bad as asking for death. Here’s what we’ll do: beat him up, scare him with ghost talk, tie him up and throw him somewhere isolated until we sell the goods, then let him go.”

Upon Pao’s order, his crew surrounded Hu Zi and started beating him wildly.

Seeing this, Qian couldn’t stay hidden any longer.

Even though Hu Zi was somewhat indescribably foolish, he was the child of that person. If she didn’t protect this silly child and let him get beaten up badly, there would be big trouble later.

”Let him go.”

Qian walked out slowly from behind the sand pile, clutching the syringe Hu Zi had left behind in her fist.

”Oh? Another one! Tsk tsk, and she’s pretty! Who are you?”

”I’m Tomb Raider Captain Shirley.”

”What? Tomb what?” Pao didn’t understand.

”I mean tomb raiders. You guys robbing people’s ancestors is against our rules. Friendly advice: let them go and leave now, there’s still a way out, but if you wait any longer, it’s ghost-blowing-light time.”

This was one of Qian’s favorite novels from her past life. Counting the years, it was a bit too early to say, as the author hadn’t written it yet, she was just stalling for time.

It’s undeniable that Qian’s tactic was several levels above Hu Zi’s, and it delayed time quite effectively.

”What are you up to?” Pao was stunned by Qian’s words, as she moved towards him step by step. She knew she couldn’t run, as running would expose her ruse.

”My family has been tomb robbers for generations. Did you know there are four sects of tomb raiders?”

”Uh... why should I know?” Pao was confused by this unexpected plot twist—what’s going on? He was just quietly dealing some artifacts, and suddenly a blabbering pretty woman appeared?

”How can you not know these basics if you’re in this line of work? Our field is divided into four sects: Faqiu, Tomb Raider, Ban Shan, Xieling. I’m from the Tomb Raider Sect—a Tomb Raider Captain. We’ve been around since the Warring States Period. Aren’t your petty crimes a bit dull? Want to know the location of a great tomb?”

Thanks to reading so many random novels in her past life, Qian was proud of her eclectic knowledge, but she was calculating the time.

If Yu Minglang and the others moved quickly, they should be approaching the warehouse now, right?

”No, seriously, where did you come from, and what’s your goal?” Pao, confused by Qian’s deviation from the expected plot, couldn’t keep up. Normally, he should order these unexpected folks tied up and locked away.

But this woman wasn’t afraid and calmly walked toward him, talking as she went. This wasn’t following the script at all!

”Pao, this woman is weird,” Xiaohui whispered.

Pao felt the same. Qian knew her bluff could probably only buy a minute or two. Any person with a normal IQ would quickly realize she was bluffing. She was betting on Yu Minglang’s arrival, aware that the guilt of these thieves would slow their reactions as she behaved bizarrely. Just as Qian was only a step away from Pao, there suddenly came the sound of a loudspeaker outside.

”Hear me, people inside, you are surrounded. Put down your weapons and surrender immediately; it’s your only choice!”

They’re here!

Qian was delighted, while this group of startled cannon fodder was completely baffled—they just wanted money, when did they get into kidnapping? Hostage? Qian took the opportunity to quickly dash forward, pressing the syringe against Pao’s hand.

”Don’t move! What I have here is unspeakable—inject it, and you’re done. If you don’t want to die, cooperate with me!”

”Help! I’m a hostage!” Pao screamed, only for Qian to stomp on him, ”Shut up!”

In life, one has to learn to adapt to situations. Since the scenario was ruined, she would create one!

When Yu Minglang led his team over and saw the car outside, he sensed something was off.

Just how many kidnappers were there, and why would they boldly park a broken van by the roadside? Qiao Zhen also sensed something was amiss. There were so many footprints at the warehouse entrance, which made him uneasy. Wasn’t it supposed to be just a cameo extra? What’s with all these people?

The closer they got to the warehouse, the more anomalies they found. The warehouse had only one main entrance, nothing else. Yu Minglang decided to negotiate first before launching a strike. While they were calling out, they got news from the airport outpost.

They reported that Nong Yao had already landed and was being held by them. Yu Minglang ordered them to keep an eye on that person, then turned to deploy a rescue plan.

Meanwhile, Akka and Zheng Xu also arrived in Lishi. By then, Qian’s phone was unreachable, and Yu Minglang’s phone was off. Akka didn’t know where to start.

Calling the boss, the boss’s phone was also off.

”I’ll send someone to look.” Zheng Xu was about to mobilize his people but was stopped by Akka.

”They must be caught up in something; otherwise, we wouldn’t be unable to reach them all. Save your trouble,” Akka said calmly. Zheng Xu glanced at her.

Though this girl always seemed erratic, she remained composed in crisis, which surprised him a bit.
