Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1145: Chapter 1117: What Kind of Luck Is This? (Monthly Ticket 3200+ Update)

”...Are you sure you don’t want to be serious, Hu Zi?” Qian already knew who he was from his slip of the tongue. Sigh, with similar background, her own silly strongman was way more reliable than this guy.

The two were busy discussing the details for later, and realizing it was about time, Hu Zi took out a prop, a syringe with a mixture of milk and water inside. He planned to throw it on the ground to simulate an exhilarated state after a shot, all for Yu Minglang to believe their operation was real.

Qian knew she only had one shot at this. If she failed to pull it off, Minglang would surely suffer long-term consequences. In a hurry, she thought up this scheme using Qio Yu Xuan’s traitorous student, knowing it wouldn’t be easy to fool him. Now, it all depended on their relationship hoping love would cloud his judgment, just like when she hacked at cabbages this morning.

”Here they come!” Upon hearing footsteps outside, Hu Zi, entrusted with a crucial role, immediately assumed his part, grabbing a knife and preparing to take Qian hostage, embodying his role in seconds. His belly full of artistic talents finally had room to play.

However, Qian felt something wasn’t right.

”Wait, something’s wrong!”

She dragged Hu Zi to hide behind some burlap bags in a storeroom.

There were five rows of bags, the front row high against a wall filled with sand, and the last row partially empty, leaving a gap where both crouched folded in the confined space, Qian gestured for silence.

Hu Zi didn’t understand but wisely stayed silent.

Qian’s mind spun quickly; what kind of person was Yu Minglang?

An idol to many.

If he were to rescue someone, he wouldn’t have made such noise.

Moreover, it was slightly early; according to the plan, he and his team wouldn’t arrive for a few minutes. Feeling uneasy, Qian decided to hide with Hu Zi, hoping they were merely passersby who would leave soon.

But against her hopes, the footsteps drew nearer, accompanied by voices until the door was pushed open.

”Xiaohui, have you thoroughly scoped this place? No one’s here?” a voice called out.

”Rest assured, Pao, I checked it out a week ago, absolutely no problem!”

Qian rolled her eyes, damn it!

What luck!

Choosing the place was entirely left to the people above, who somehow thought it was a good spot claiming it was mostly deserted, not expecting its seclusion attracted other criminals!

This luck is simply...

Qian signaled Hu Zi to pass his phone; she was about to send a text to notify others about the situation but noticed Hu Zi innocently blinking his eyes, the phone... He had tossed it aside after his call, Qian dragged him in so quickly he hadn’t brought it!

This was just the beginning of misfortune, worsened as more people entered, from the safety behind the sandbags, she couldn’t see how many, but the echoing steps suggested there were many.

It’s over, completely over.

How could she be so unlucky to run into this?

If it were an illegal trade, Yu Minglang’s team wouldn’t ignore it; a collective strike would prevent him from shooting; then, wouldn’t her plan be wasted?

So many people outside, she and silly Hu Zi couldn’t possibly rush out, not worried about personal danger, just that Minglang’s treatment may be jeopardized.

At this point, there was little time for thought; she wanted to know what these people were up to.

”Pao, this stuff is definitely good; the guys risked exposure stealing it from the temple. The most valuable is the Buddha statue holding our ancestor’s body. They say he became a Buddha, guaranteed big money outside.”

Qian couldn’t believe it, what luck!

The people outside were terrible, daring to steal even ancestral statues for money, not fearing retribution.

”Where’s the stuff?” Pao asked.

”Afraid someone might see, I hid it here three days ago. Look, right behind this sand heap, buried in sand; anyone checking would assume it’s just sand.”

Qian thought, damn it; how coincidental?

She unknowingly stood on them, the very reason behind the odd sensation beneath her feet, was she trampling on someone’s ancestor?

Hence the full front of sandbags and the sizeable gap behind; it was merely a stash for stolen goods!

Seeing them approaching, Hu Zi panicked, struggling to earn this valuable opportunity from his father. If he botched it, wouldn’t his father despise him even more?

Watching him push Qian further back and signal for silence before dashing out without even a word!

Qian didn’t anticipate this silly guy to be so brave, risking himself against them to protect her?

Before moved, she heard something fall, then Hu Zi chanted a Buddha’s name.

”You unworthy descendants, even dare rob ancestors like me, kneel at once!”

Underpants!

Qian was thunderstruck, electrocuted till crispy outside tender inside.

This guy... thought of pretending the ancestor was spiritualizing!

Such an absurd scheme, how did he come up with it?!

”I am your ancestor, who diligently cultivated to become Buddha, intending to protect my clan’s prosperity. But you unworthy descendants perform such deeds, even considering selling ancestors?” Hu Zi sat cross-legged, speaking solemnly.

The outsiders collectively froze for several seconds.

Pao couldn’t figure out what the deal was, familiar with tales of anomalies in artifact trading, though all legends, unseen in reality, suddenly facing such eerie phenomena.

Pao secretly nudged a dumbstruck Xiaohui, whispering, ”Why is your ancestor’s accent not your local dialect, but Beijing slang?”

Qian rolled her eyes upon hearing; growing up near the Palace, why wouldn’t he speak Beijing slang!

”I don’t know... Oh my god, the ancestor’s spiritualizing...” initially Xiaohui’s legs quivered in fright, staring at the cross-legged Hu Zi, urged by fear from such sudden apparition during a sale.

Yet the fear didn’t last past three seconds, as realization dawned.

Why would the ancestor wear modern clothes?

Then Xiaohui realized, ”Hold on, our ancestor in the temple is a goddess...”

”Oh...” Hu Zi knew he was caught, his artistic ambitions dashed coldly, pointing at the ceiling and exclaimed.

”Look at that, isn’t it a South China tiger?”
