Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 979: Chapter 952: Since It Has Already Happened, Let’s Do What Needs to Be Done

Inside the house, Qian’s family was debating this matter.

Outside, after taking pictures with Shi Touyu and the others, Mrs. Yu also called Mr. Yu inside for an emergency meeting, leaving their son to entertain Qian’s friends and family.

Qian’s friends and family were temporarily controlled by Shi Touyu; they didn’t express dissatisfaction, but neither did they follow the car to the hotel, all waiting to see what Qian would decide.

If Qian came out saying they should go, these people would immediately head to the banquet with smiles, supporting Qian in style.

If Qian came out with a dark face, these people would immediately retreat with Qian to the Chen Family’s house, not attending the wedding banquet.

The current harmonious appearance was just giving Qian face, waiting for her to speak; it showed that Qian usually handled matters well and had loyal friends around her.

Mrs. Yu and Mr. Yu went into another room and closed the door, leaving just the two of them.

Mrs. Yu was the first to express dissatisfaction, and her way was very direct, pointing at Mr. Yu’s nose and starting to yell.

”Are you still letting people live like this? On my son’s big wedding day, he’s made to leave, what are you doing? Yu Weiguo, call our son back right now! This wedding banquet cannot be left to Qian alone!” Mrs. Yu was about to explode.

Mr. Yu also had his frustrations; he knew where the call came from and naturally understood his son was in a helpless situation.

Even though his son had left his old unit, he still had to be ready at any time, considering obedience to orders as his duty.

Despite feeling that this situation was not ideal, he still had to argue back.

”Why are you yelling at me? He was called for duty, if needed, he has to go, it’s his responsibility! Besides, old woman, calm down, if he was called away on a day like today, it must be something very important, we have to consider the bigger picture!”

Mr. Yu’s words were righteous and dignified, but Mrs. Yu, who was enraged, wasn’t buying it at all.

”What bigger picture? The bigger picture is that my son left his bride behind, leaving a bunch of people at the hotel waiting? What will people think of our family, how are you going to explain to the in-laws? You go, you go explain to the in-laws next door! Let me tell you, I understand exactly how the in-laws feel right now, frankly speaking, they would be justified in taking their daughter back home, and we would be at fault, do you know that?”

”Don’t make it sound so serious...” Mr. Yu’s rebuttal was obviously weak, he knew they were indeed at fault, but as the one handling the family’s affairs, he couldn’t express dissatisfaction as directly as Mrs. Yu.

”How is it not serious? You also have a daughter, our Xiaoxi isn’t married yet; imagine if such a thing happened on her wedding day, if the groom left the bride and ran off, would you be angry? You would be angry, and the in-laws would definitely have emotions too; it’s not handled this way! Tell me, what do we do now!”

Mrs. Yu was genuinely angry, her voice was a bit loud, and Mr. Yu looked around worriedly, fearing that her shouting would be heard outside. In a hurry, he tried to cover Mrs. Yu’s mouth, but she didn’t hesitate and bit down.

She was venting her anger, letting it out however she wished!

Mr. Yu grimaced from the bite but couldn’t argue back; he knew their family was at fault.

The wedding guests were relatives from all over, traveling a long way, and for the groom to run off alone, what kind of situation was that?

How would they face the in-laws in the future?

The key issue was that their son and daughter-in-law had such a good relationship; if this incident caused friction or even affected the marriage, where would they find another daughter-in-law as capable and wonderful as her?

Yet some things are truly beyond personal control, such as the sudden departure incident. Who could have foreseen that? It really is a case of swallowing yellow sap; there’s bitterness but no way to express it!

In the adjacent room, unable to argue with Mr. Liao, Qian’s mom reacted similarly to Mrs. Yu, pointing at Mr. Liao, ”Why are you talking so much today? I’m starting to dislike you!”

Like a child, her childish reaction clearly indicated genuine anger, confused by frustration.

Mr. Liao wasn’t angry, he stood beside her, trying to persuade her.

”Nobody wanted this to happen, there’s no fundamental conflict between our Qian and Minglang; venting our anger on Qian now wouldn’t be beneficial, how will she handle things in the Yu family in the future?”

This reasoning made sense, but the emotions involved truly aren’t something people can control.

Mr. Liao was rational, whereas Qian’s mom and Dalong were driven by emotions; they felt sympathy for Qian.

”Sis, Yu’s family is so influential, they couldn’t handle this small issue, doesn’t that mean they don’t care about you? Just don’t marry them, I’ll go and argue with them right now! Although I’m young, I’m a man from our family; Fugui, are you coming or not?” Dalong, in passionate outrage, was determined to stand up for his sister.

”Dalong, it’s not as simple as you think; you should listen to your sister.” Fugui’s leg was still a bit crippled and needed some days to fully recover, but his intelligence remained sharp.

”Enough, this non-blood brother doesn’t work well, fine, if you’re not going, I’ll go!” Dalong turned around to leave, but Qian grabbed him with one hand, intending to slap this idiot. However, remembering that today was supposed to be a day of celebration, she instead chose to push him away.

”You little brat, are your words making a mockery out of our brother? Apologize to him! For the past few years, how has he treated you? How can you say such idiotic things?”

If it hadn’t been for Fugui’s constant tutoring and overseeing Dalong’s studies one-on-one, the kid wouldn’t have been able to pass even third-tier universities.

”I’m sorry, brother, I was confused by anger.” Dalong realized he’d gone too far with the non-blood brother comment and hurriedly apologized to Fugui.

Fugui waved his hand, ”It’s no problem; I know you’re worried about Qian’s situation.”

A highly educated person exhibits such quality; an ordinary person would have been angry long ago.

”Learn from your brother Fugui! What does it mean to have a brain? A brain is a particularly good thing, and I hope you have one, as does your brother-in-law! I understand you’re standing up for me, I know you care about your sister, that’s kindness, but you need to think; what good is a kind heart without a clear mind?”

Qian was both touched and angry at her brother’s reaction, moved by his genuine emotions towards her, angry at his inability to see the situation clearly, and following their mother who was going through a menopausal phase.

”Sis! You haven’t even married over yet, why is your heart already leaning towards Yu’s family? Their family handled things like this, and you’re still siding with them!”

”Even when I say you don’t have a brain, you don’t admit it! You keep saying your brother-in-law’s family is powerful, do you know what power is used for? Power, in its ancient sense, is like the balance weight, the iron lump that can slide on a scale to observe weight; Mencius once said, power, then knowing weight and lightness, do you understand what it means?”

”...What does it mean?” Dalong fell victim to the intellectual’s words again.

”Your sister means knowing one’s limits in doing things; truly powerful people won’t misuse their power.” Fugui explained.

”How is a wedding misuse? It’s a matter of saying a single word!”

Qian didn’t argue with him; the reason for sending Dalong away to endure hardships was to fix this problem of always wanting to leverage power.

”Mom, Dalong, strictly speaking, my wedding with Minglang is already completed; the certificate’s long been received, the ceremony’s done, you’re just mad about his absence at the banquet, right? But realize this: who is this wedding for? It’s just for relatives and friends; the event happened, I admit I’m not as happy as how I appear, but what does unhappiness accomplish? What our family needs now is to get through this process to completion; a wedding banquet missing the groom might even yield an unexpected effect.”
