Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 965: Chapter 938: Let Me Show You His Strength

Watching the father and son at each other’s throats, Bai Jin spoke up again. She wasn’t trying to smooth things over; she just wanted Qiuqiu’s dad to know more about Qiuqiu, about how outstanding he really was.

”Qiuqiu’s tutoring classes are doing really well. Maybe in your eyes that’s just small change, but for him, that’s his dream, that’s his career. Since we started, we already have three martial arts classes and two taekwondo classes. We’re also recruiting more teachers. In the next six months, we’re planning to add some specialty classes, like Latin dance, folk dance, and we can even use the extracurricular classes to drive the main subjects, add English and academic courses. That’ll make even more money. As long as the model starts running, all this can be done in six months to a year. By then, Qiuqiu’s income will be very considerable.”

Bai Jin had helped Qiuqiu run the numbers and would also be involved in starting the school, so she had a clear idea of everything.

”Why are you telling me all this? You little girl, don’t tell me you’ve taken a fancy to Qiuqiu? The two of you are not right, break it off, quickly.” Qiuqiu’s dad refused to admit that after listening to Bai Jin, his attitude toward Qiuqiu had shifted, even if just a little.

He had always thought Qiuqiu was not a normal person, a twisted and broken child.

He hadn’t expected that outside, Qiuqiu had actually built a bit of a business. You have to know, when Qiuqiu opened the classes, the family didn’t give him a cent. In fact, to ”correct” Qiuqiu’s sexual orientation, a few years back his dad even cut off his college tuition, trying to force Qiuqiu to wear women’s clothes and live as a woman.

He hadn’t expected that not only did Qiuqiu earn his own money to get through college, he even did business with others and made quite a splash.

Among those nouveau-riche coal-miner bosses around Qiuqiu’s dad, none of their kids were this promising. Don’t be fooled by those guys with a whole bunch of sons and piles of money—most of their children only know how to spend and refuse to strive for anything. Compared to families like Yu Minglang’s with several generations of foundation, the gap for these upstarts was still huge, and it showed most clearly in their children’s education. It was rare among them to see a kid this driven.

What a pity, it was a daughter.

Why did it have to be a daughter.

If this were a son, if this were a son who could build something from scratch, Qiuqiu’s dad felt he could brag to his peers about him for a lifetime.

”Up till now, Qiuqiu and I are just friends, but in the future, I can’t promise I won’t fall for him. After all, he’s so outstanding—” Ah, she said it out loud!

Bai Jin’s face flushed red.

Ahhhh, she said it!

And she said it right in front of Qiuqiu’s dad!

She’d bottled these feelings up for so long; how did they just pop out at this moment?

She cautiously snuck a look at Qiuqiu and found that he didn’t look displeased at all; instead he seemed very happy. The two of them locked eyes, sweet and tender—while simultaneously treating Qiuqiu’s dad like nothing but background scenery.

Fugui quietly wheeled himself over toward Liumei. He couldn’t take it anymore; he had to hide. Broad daylight, and they were dumping dog food like crazy!

”You, you, you!!! I will never accept this!!!” Qiuqiu’s dad was badly shaken. The blatant affair was unfolding right under his nose—how could this be tolerated?

”We don’t need your approval. You’d better keep your mouth shut—Bai Jin, we’ll talk when we get back.” Qiuqiu was practically shooting sparks, feeling re-energized.

”Okay!” Bai Jin nodded hard.

Fugui, with his back to them, pushed his wheelchair with effort. In his ears it was as if a little love serenade was playing. Tsk tsk!

Qiuqiu’s dad was completely rattled. Qiuqiu, in a very good mood at this point, didn’t even find this annoying old man quite as unbearable. He lazily said, ”So, are you going to tell me or not? If you’re not, I’ll have them carry you away. You’re in the way anyway.”

Qiuqiu’s dad looked at his foreign fat-cat client, then at the totally disobedient Qiuqiu, and then at the medical team that still hadn’t left. Weighing the pros and cons, he could only put Qiuqiu’s love life aside for now and briefly explain the business situation.

After explaining, he still felt uneasy. ”You don’t get involved. How could you possibly handle this? To be honest, when I came, I wasn’t confident either. I just wanted to give it a try.”

”Isn’t mining making you plenty of money? What made you think of partnering with someone to open a factory? Isn’t it good enough being a nouveau riche?”

”I’m thinking of you too. Mining isn’t suitable for a girl like you. I only have this one child, you. I want you to have a stable family business after I die. If you have a factory, you can just hold shares and not manage it. Later I’ll find you a live-in son-in-law to run it. Then your later years will be secured.”

Qiuqiu rolled his eyes. ”You sexist old man, you really look down on women too much. See that woman talking with the foreigners? We all call her Qian; she’s absolutely a powerhouse. Don’t be fooled by her being a psychologist—she makes no less than any man, and countless men can’t match her. Stop looking down on women. The only difference between men and women is physical strength; in intelligence they’re neck and neck. Besides, I’m a man. How could I need a son-in-law?”

”No matter how capable Mr Chen is, she’s still a doctor. How can a doctor’s earnings compare to a businessman’s? Qiuqiu, listen to your dad, don’t be so stubborn. Get married, have kids, support your husband and raise your children—that’s the path you should be on. Dad’s already planned out your future. Later I’ll find you a live-in son-in-law, and I’ll leave all my money to you. The children you give birth to will have the surname Xiao, then our family will have incense to carry on.”

Qiuqiu’s dad could be said to be painstakingly earnest. In his eyes, this was already the best path he could choose for his only child.

But Qiuqiu didn’t appreciate it. With a wave of his hand, he ordered the medical team to forcibly tie the man to a stretcher, then patted the immobilized Mr. Xiao on the shoulder. ”Old man, I’m a man. How could I give birth to children? Wake up, stop dreaming those big Spring and Autumn fantasies. And another thing, don’t look down on people. Just wait and see how I pull off what you couldn’t! But let me say this up front—this time counts as repaying you for giving birth to me. From now on, stay out of my personal business!”

With that, he strode off toward the court. Qiuqiu’s dad watched him go with eager, burning eyes, so mad he could spit blood.

The medical team followed Qiuqiu’s orders, carrying his dad and preparing to leave. They’d already gone a few steps when the one who stayed behind, Bai Jin, suddenly spoke up.

”Stop! Put him down!”

”You?” Qiuqiu’s dad didn’t understand what Bai Jin was trying to do.

”I want you to see what an outstanding man he is! You stay. Sit here and watch!” In other words, he’d stay, but don’t let him off that stretcher!

As if sensing what Bai Jin intended, Qian saw Qiuqiu coming over and bent her head to whisper something in Xiaoqiang’s ear. Xiaoqiang nodded and headed over toward Qiuqiu’s dad.

”Hurry up and help me over there. Don’t let him mess things up. Quick, whatever it costs, I’ll pay!” Qiuqiu’s dad said to Yu Minglang.

Yu Minglang acted like he hadn’t heard a thing. He grabbed a bottle of foreign liquor from the table, asked someone for a glass, and filled it up for Mr. Xiao.

”Back then you abused him, locked him up, and only fed him plain cabbage. But we’re not that cruel. We’ll just let you sit here and watch. I’ll even treat you to a drink. Come on, my wife said the two of us are doing good deeds anonymously today, spreading warmth free of charge. She’s up there working with Qiuqiu to handle those foreigners, and as for me...”

With a wicked little smile, Yu Minglang said unhurriedly, ”I’ll do a live play-by-play translation for you, so you’ll know exactly what Qiuqiu is saying to them.”
