Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 972: Chapter 945: Finding the Cause to Solve the Present Effect

”Mom, you guys go to the hotel first. I have something to take care of, I’ll drive there later myself.” After what happened yesterday, Qian didn’t want to avoid Qiuqiu’s dad anymore.

”Try not to miss the start of the banquet—how about asking Liumei to go with you?” Qian’s mom knew that Liumei had practiced martial arts, and if there was a problem, she could easily take someone down with one kick.

Qian shook her head, ”No need.”

At this time, perhaps because of his lame leg, Qiuqiu’s dad looked completely different from the impressive entrance he made last time, and he appeared very haggard.

Seeing Qian’s family come out, Qiuqiu’s dad’s lips moved slightly.

He clearly remembered how Qian’s mom tricked him that day; he stood upstairs chatting with that seemingly dementia-stricken lady until he fainted from heatstroke!

This woman sure knows how to mess with people...

”Mr. Chen, I specifically came to find you! Can we talk?” Qiuqiu’s dad smiled apologetically at Qian.

”Let’s find a place. I’m getting married tomorrow, and today is my family’s banquet, so I can spare you half an hour.”

Upon hearing that Qian was getting married and hosting a banquet, Qiuqiu’s dad was surprised and instinctively wanted to take out his wallet.

”Mr. Chen, you see, I didn’t expect to find you, and I didn’t bring anything today, nor did I know it’s your joyous day—”

Qian stopped him with a hand gesture.

”Mr. Xiao, if you take out money, there’s no point in us continuing this conversation.”

Qiuqiu often said his father lacked culture and acted like a nouveau riche, and indeed, his way of doing things was very much like that, throwing money around with no sophistication.

Qiuqiu’s dad awkwardly smiled and sheepishly tucked his wallet back in.

Qian chose a café not too far from home and drove Qiuqiu’s dad there.

”Tell me, what’s the matter?” Qian ordered an iced water and asked him.

Both of them knew well that the reason Qiuqiu’s dad came to her must be because of Qiuqiu, just going through the formalities.

Qiuqiu’s dad rubbed his hands and sighed.

”I want to know, is there any treatment for my daughter’s condition? I know you’re one of the best psychologists in the country, you must have a way, right?”

Back then, he merely thought Qian was a leading figure and a good friend of Qiuqiu, viewing her with prejudice.

Qiuqiu previously said Qian was a famous psychologist among the upper social circle in China, but Qiuqiu’s dad didn’t believe it, thinking she was boasting.

Yet, he genuinely heard about a very good psychologist being in Q City, one who could be contacted only through layers of connections.

When he finally managed to trace it through various connections, he discovered this doctor was actually Qian, a revelation that was too shocking. Although he shouldn’t interact with someone he once wronged, he had no choice but to swallow his pride for Qiuqiu’s sake.

When Qiuqiu’s dad mentioned the word ’daughter’, Qian’s smile turned sarcastic.

”You have a daughter? Since when?”

”Of course, Qiuqiu. You’re good friends.”

”No, you don’t have a daughter. Your daughter was ’killed’ by you, personally. Now you have only Qiuqiu, and it’s not certain whether he acknowledges you.”

Qian uttered ’killed personally’, these four words lightly, but landing like a heavy blow to Qiuqiu’s dad’s hearing.

He painfully covered his face, ”I never expected...she’d end up like this!”

”From a medical perspective, gender identity disorders are related to physiological factors, genetic factors, and upbringing. I don’t know whether there’s any congenital hormonal imbalance in Qiuqiu’s genes, but I can definitely tell you that his current condition has a direct relationship with his upbringing. You are the one who killed that girl, aren’t you?”

”I didn’t mean to make her like this...” Qiuqiu’s dad expressed his agony; who would’ve thought that such inadvertence would lead to an irremediable situation now?

”You didn’t explicitly say so, but you brought him into this world without giving him the fatherly love he deserved, instead, hitting and scolding him, drilling into him the thought that girls are useless. Most of the patients with childhood-induced psychological issues I’ve seen had their parents divorce around the age of 5, or a father who was long absent. A father’s role is crucial during upbringing, so why did you treat him like that?”

Qiuqiu’s dad was pressed to tears by Qian’s inquiry.

Back then, he was under tremendous pressure, things were difficult everywhere, oppressed outside, and the wife left him, leaving behind the drag, Qiuqiu, who grew up looking like a boy but was actually a girl.

In Qiuqiu’s dad’s hometown, lineage was highly valued, outsiders would sometimes joke about not having a son, those who had sons laughed; those without felt severely insulted, this pent-up frustration had nowhere to be vented, and could only be unleashed on a vulnerable child.

Who would have thought the consequences would be this severe?

Qian paid no heed to Qiuqiu’s dad’s pain and instead turned her head to look at a kind of ornamental plant growing in the café. She didn’t know its exact name, but it was lush, with scattered red berries, very pleasing. She reached out to pluck one, playing with it in her palm.

”Outsiders think we psychologists are very magical. No matter what psychological problem comes to us, after a few test questionnaires, we can analyze the person’s childhood, like magic. Don’t you think? Many patients come to us with problems and we can accurately deduce their childhood family situations, do you know why?”

Qiuqiu’s dad helplessly looked at her, shaking his head.

Qian pushed the red berry towards him.

”A large portion of adult psychological problems are related to childhood experiences. Here’s an example: adults who have problems are like the fruit you see here. Suppose mental illnesses caused by congenital genetic issues are like seeds with inherent flaws, incapable of bearing good fruit. Can you understand this?”

This analogy was very vivid; Qiuqiu’s dad nodded quickly, Qian continued.

”Will seeds that are genetically normal definitely yield fruit? Not necessarily. During growth, there’s still a chance they encounter problems, like water, temperature, sunlight, etc. A good seedling changes in your care. Do you blame the seedling for not trying hard or the gardener for being careless?”

The biggest failure parents can have is saying their child has problems.

Because most problematic children are molded by their parents’ hands.

Qian’s words profoundly hit Qiuqiu’s dad, leaving him pale-faced and breathless, hurriedly pulling a bottle of medication from his pocket and swallowing some.

”My personality tells me I should ignore you because the fruit you see today is the consequence of the cause you planted originally. From a psychological standpoint, except for problems caused by congenital genetic issues, any psychological anomaly can trace back to a causal link; our responsibility is to find that cause, to address the current effect.”
