The hivemind is conquering for me?

Hailey got back to her office and waiting for her inside was Gabrielle, on her chair. Hailey immediately frowned. ” Out of my chair traitor. I can’t believe you are going on the expedition with my boyfriend. I am so pissed off about that.”

Gabrielle raised her arms in surrender. ”Whoa! Easy Hailey, It’s not my fault I have connections. I took advantage. You know with me by his side, you know he will be safer.”

”Thats not the point. You are my guardian, you are supposed to be at my side and-”

”Oh hush, you keep on going on about me being in your way. You are just jealous I get to fight with Apollo and you haven’t yet.”

Hailey turned icy. Not wanting to deal with banter at this moment, she already had to do something degrading in a moment, she wasn’t in the mood. ”Out of my chair, I need to make a call.”

Gabrielle immediately stood up. She could read the cracks in the ice and knew when Hailey was tense or was just in her resting bitch face.

”Woah, Hailey, who do you have to call? No, don’t tell me. Him? Why?”

Hailey sighed. ”Extortion mainly, but I have to be nice. So a peep from you and I will gut you, understood?”

Gabrielle nodded and smirked. ”Sure sure. Oh by the way, I am going to have my data pad out and pointed at you, but don’t worry, I’m not going to be recording or anything.”

Hailey simply sighed, not bothering. Her head was already stressed. A few minutes later, she had gotten her communicator out of the desk and initiated a call.

...

”I’m Coming! I’m Coming! I’m Coming! Don’t hang up! Don’t hang up! Don’t hang-Hailey My darling girl. How are you? How is teaching? Are you enjoying yourself? What can I do for you, my sweet girl?”

Dickon’s face was alight with joy. Even more now that his baby girl was in front of him. He could see a smile on her face and he almost broke down into tears, it was so beautiful.

Just as she was about to speak, someone yelled from behind him. ”Daddy! Come back to play! Who is that?”

Dickon panicked, he knew Hailey didn’t really get on with her siblings, the age gap was quite tremendous after all. ”Ugh, it’s your sister, Tobias. But it is important. Go and play with your brother and sister. I will be back shortly.”

The little dickon lookalike looked at the communicator screen first before recognising the woman from the pictures. She looked scarier in real life. ”H-Hello sister.” The child stammered out.

”Tobias, listen to your father. I need to discuss political matters... And eat your vegetables.” She said without changing her facial expression, but Dickon looked at the screen, his eyes almost bulging out of his sockets.

’She engaged? She said something positive?’ He was happy and scared about what was happening. After Tobias ran away to do something more fun, Dickon looked at the screen and his heart nearly gave out seeing his little girl smile at him.

Holding back emotions before she ran off, or he ruined the moment, again, he gulped heavily before asking. ”S-so Hailey, what can I do for you today?”

Contrary to the demands he was expecting, she actually spoke to him, asked him a question. ”How are you... Dad?”

Dickon’s lips began to quiver and his eyes became misty, but he held himself together. ”I- mmh! I am doing well, princess, how are you?” His whole body began vibrating in excitement. What was going on? He didn’t care, he just didn’t want it to end.

”I am doing well, thank you for asking. I am enjoying my new job very much. How is Elaine?” Hailey asked, her beautiful smile still present on her gorgeous face.

’She looks so much like her mother.’ Dickon couldn’t help thinking lovingly before replying.

”Um, Elaine and I are not on the best of terms right now... But don’t you worry about that. I doubt it has anything to do with you.”

Hailey then chuckled slightly. ’I think it might.’ but she didn’t say that.

...

She then went through five minutes of awkward, horrid back and forth with her ’dad’ before getting to the issue at hand.

”Dad... I need a favour.”

Dickon hadn’t even registered that he had been buttered up. He took this moment as a miracle and was rolling with it, so he replied. ”Anything, my darling. Anything. I would move the stars themselves for you.”

Hailey’s smile broke for a moment at being called ’darling’ only Apollo could call her that. The word felt dirty coming from shit fuck magoo in front of her, but she held on for her mans sake.

”I need you to use your direct line to uncle Sigismund and have him contact me immediately. Will you do everything in your power to do so now? Please?”

”Of course! I will do it now! Will you unblock me so I can call you back once its done?”

There was a pause after Dickon said that before Hailey simply said. ”Fine.” Before hanging up.

Upon hanging up, Dickon’s brain began working again and he suddenly realised what he just accepted. ”Oh shit...”

Being the civil king has certain benefits. One being that in times of emergency, he can bypass restrictions put in place and is able to override the military Kings personal communications network.

The last time he did it. Sigismund was piiised. If he knew Hailey was going to ask for that before declaring he would do anything...

’NO. I promised my little girl. I will do this for her.’

...

Sigismund was looking out through his view port, fist clenched tight. Before him a small fleet of Coalition ships were entering through their FTL lanes and landing on the planet below.

As per the agreement. He had slowly been pulling back the frontline bit by bit. Sending troops to the galactic east, north and south to support the war against the swarm. They had been ferocious. Attacking in numbers greater than ever seen. They weren’t even leaving husks of planets behind anymore. They were devouring everything.

They were even consuming stars! A vital energy resource. Just gone. Not even the Drakoshi commit such atrocities!

The thought of this forced his fist to tense even harder. Aliens, aliens, aliens. All of life’s problems were aliens. If only they could all just-

”Sigismund I need-”

”-WHAT THE FUCK!”

*BOOM*

Sigismund punched out full force hitting the glass before him. The glass that could withstand devastatingly heavy ordinance began to crack.

Sigismund stood there for a moment, eyes wide as it continued to grow a couple of inches before stopping. His eyes then lingered for a moment to make sure it wasn’t growing any further before he began to look around. Spotting some adhesive tape, unchanged in thousands of years for its usefulness, he picked it up, applied it to the crack as a temporary solution before pulling the communicator out of his pocket.

”Dickon what the fuck is wrong with you, you gigantic fucking donkey! Wait, did you use the bypasses? What has happened?” Sigismund was about to begin prepping ways to get back to the core worlds asap, thinking something terrible was happening to his people, but no...

”Actually, I just needed to talk with you about something. You see, my daughter-”

”Your DAUGHTER! I ALMOST SENT MYSELF FLYING OUT INTO FUCKING SPACE OVER YOUR FUCKING DAUGHTER ISSUES!”

Sigismund felt his body begin to swell up, he was not in conforming clothes so his toga ripped to shreds and was now in the nude. Looking at himself in the glass for a moment, he sighed and as per his current instructions declared.

”DICKON SHUT YOUR FAT FUCKING MOUTH A MINUTE AND LET ME CALM DOWN.”

...

A few minutes later ”Phew. Alright. What does Hailey want? This better be important.”

Dickon then scratched his head. ”Um, she didn’t really say what it was about. She just wanted you to contact her. Her communication crystal is still the same as the one I gave you over a decade ago. Do you still have that?”

Sigismund sighed. ”Yes, I still have it. Now, when should I call her? Right after this?”

”I’d give it an hour! I need to call her back and give her the good news!” Dickon declared delighted.

”Very well then. I-” Sigismund was about to hang up before he remembered something.

The formerly angry man suddenly was all smirks and eye squints as he looked at the weak king on the other end of the call.

”Hey Dickon?”

”Yes?” Dickon asked, confused due to the change in tone.

”I heard you granted sentinel status to the man fucking your daughter, what was going though your mind when that occurred, huh?”

”I-uh. Wha? uh she’s not. He’s not He isn’t I-” Dickon began stammering and that was followed up with,

”Bahahahahahahahahaha! Oh-hahahahaha!” Aarrrrhhhahahahahaha!”

Dickon just sat there for a good minute straight while he watched Sigismund full on belly laugh himself to tears. It was kind of freaking him out, Sigismund never laughs. Once he composed himself he spoke once more.

”Oh fuck I needed that. Ah, I’m just busting your balls Dickon. You take it easy. Give Hailey the word , I’ll call her in an hour.”

The call then ended and Dickon just sat there for a moment. frowning.

”At least I have balls to bust... Asshole.”

He then checked five times in terror to make sure the communication had actually ended before sighing in relief and called back up his daughter.
