The hivemind is conquering for me?

After playing around with the minigun for a minute, I nodded approvingly. Not only did I love my ’gift’, but with the material having Psionic properties, I felt like my armour could devour the materials and make it into the suit itself.

That way I wouldn’t have to hold another funeral for another piece of equipment. BUt for now, I took off the minigun, placed it back in the crate and willed my armour back into my arm.

”Fergus, thank you. I won’t forget this.” I said and went to give the hand a handshake. The man then grasped my forearm and I followed his lead.

”Don’t mention it, I basically just scammed you out of twelve billion credits. Just don’t die fighting in this expedition or it will be a waste.”

The two of us then shared a moment that was capped off with a simple bro nod. Nothing more needed to be said.

...

After leaving the building. I was now carrying a crate. The human puppy I was accompanied by, saw this and ran over, bouncing around me.

”Apollo! What’s in the crate! Show me! Show me! Is it something we can burn? Or will it go Kaboom! If I spark it up. Should I take a crack at it?” Show me!”

I ignored Lena’s antics, acknowledging her hyper makes her more hyper so I simply asked the question. ”Are you guys hungry? ’Cos I can really go for some food right n-”

Suddenly a wormhole opened next to me and a figure floated out from it. ”There you are! I’ve been opening wormholes all over trying to find you. Come on. While we still have time. We are in a time crunch now!”

Hecate then began to yank on my arm trying to pull me through the wormhole. I accepted my fate of no food and quickly handed the crate to Nerissa. ”Make sure it gets back home and don’t let Lena B-”

My words were cut off on their side as I was yanked through and the wormhole closed off.

Nerissa then opened the crate a smidgen, curiosity getting the better of her and what she saw inside. ”Most intriguing.”

”Hrrrrrrnnnn~” Lena proceeded to let out a high pitched squeak as she looked at the crate. She would do a lot of crazy shit, but she wouldn’t mess with the Pretorian. Still, the desire to see and or ignite the box was strong in her. It encompassed her entire mind.

Nerissa looked at Lena, then at Gabrielle. ”Come, let’s take this back home.”

...

”-Burn the box it was so expensive!” I said, but the wormhole cut out so I doubt they heard it.

Hecate wasted no time. She exerted force downwards on my shoulders to sit me down in a chair before she floated over her desk and did the same.

”So, Apollo. Your first expedition? Are you nervous?” Hecate asked, resting her elbows against her desk.

I shook my head. ”No, not really. While the news is extremely sudden. I feel like I am prepared enough to deal with a Drakoshi threat. Plus thanks to Yacob, I know more about Drakoshi biology than most. After all, if you know the enemy and yourself; you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”

Hecate looked at me surprised. ”Hmm.” Before she wrote what I said down. ”Very philosophical of you, Apollo. I didn’t know you had it in you. Very well spoken. Knowledge is power and thanks to my teachings, you have grown more powerful. Now, should we get right into it?”

I nodded my head. ”Might as well.”

...

My solo training with Hecate has been going excellent. The woman, I was humble enough to admit, was a force of nature when it came to Psionics. Using my own energy she had managed to teach herself how to fully use Gyrokinesis. And while she couldn’t use it as liberally as I could, because she had not awakened it, When she had my energy within her she could show me how to use my Gyrokinesis in alternate ways, allowing me to feel the flow of energy through her body better.

She was such a good teacher she would often expose herself entirely just to allow me to fully see how her muscles were flexing with the Gyrokinesis at play. Something I knew she would never do for anyone else.

Though she did make me promise not to tell Valerica about that part for spine preservation reasons.

As a result of her drive for teaching me, I was now off the ground entirely under a heavier than usual gravity due to Hecate pressing down on me with her stolen Gyrokinesis.

While I was off the ground. I was still unstable. My past issue, which kept me in that bottleneck, was that I was only generating counterpressure to gravity. That was not enough. I also needed to exert my Gyrokinesis in all directions Up, down, left, right, diagonal, diagonal of diagonal. Basically in order to levitate. I needed to create a sort of dome of energy around me that was made entirely of my own gyrokinetic energy in order to create balanced flight.

But that was easier said than done. Applying force in all directions was mentally taxing. I put pressure upwards, I lose concentration in another direction, weakening it and making my levitation wobbly. Same went for all directions. The key was finding true balance. Once I could manage it. My Gyrokinesis will pass a major hurdle, I just knew.

The other issue I was having though, was keeping the energy spherical around me. Because of the sudden jolts, energy I was controlling was going well past the line I had set for myself, forcing me to expend even more energy reigning it back under control. So many things happening all at once was a burden on both my body and my mind.

In the small part of me that wasn’t concentrating. I couldn’t help thinking about how much easier it was to manipulate no Psionic things with my Gyrokinesis. My mind went back to Jinx and I in that drug den. and how I used my ability to strangulate those people. It was almost too easy all I had to do was.

”!!!”

Idea.

I closed my eyes and imagined the sphere around me. I could feel it. Its surface. Lumpy, jumpy and all sorts of bumpy.

As sweat began to pour out of me even more I ignored my fatigue and imagined a hand wrapped around the sphere. Once it was in position, I began to squeeze. Instead of trying to keep my Psionics from reaching out, I was squeezing them back inwards. Back towards me. A lump tried to form? The hand would cover the area and squeeze harder.

The task was difficult. I could feel my energies begin to sap away at an even faster rate. But I kept squeezing. The sphere was getting smaller and smaller. Now it wasn’t as far away from my body, it was around me. Almost touching my outstretched arms.

I kept exerting and exerting. The mental toll was staggering, I feared passing out from exhaustion any second until.

”Oh!”

I exclaimed in surprise. Sudden clarity overwhelmed me and the burden suddenly lifted. For a moment I thought I had expelled all my energy and was now back on the floor. But opening my eyes revealed that not to be the case.

Looking down, Hecate was smiling at me, her hands over her chest, but she stayed silent, only observed. Giving myself a look over I realised. My elevation was stable. I wasn’t wobbling, my Gyrokinesis was not fluctuating.

I attempted to move to my right. I thought for a sliver for a second I would fall, lose balance, focus. But I didn’t. I tried moving to the left. No problem. Up, down. I span myself around and held it there.

I had done it.

I could fly!

Now I knew exactly what the sensation was like. The burden went away. It was as easy and autonomous as my passive Gyrokinetic adjustment to gravity. Though it still required a lot of Psionic energy to utilise.

I realised this as I finally expelled everything I had and dropped to the floor, head first. Still I was not annoyed by this fact as I could now fly! My biggest goal had finally happened! I broke the Gyrokinetic bottleneck!

I then got up and turned to Hecate. ”We did it!” I walked over to give my teacher a hug but.

*MWWAAH!*

Hecate pressed her lips against mine and gave me a single smooch on the lips. She then pulled back with an excited look on her own face before that look quickly turned to dread.

”Oh shit. Apollo. Do not tell Valerica I did that. That wasn’t a romantic kiss that was just me being so happy for you. You know I do not see you in that light and- Pause.” She said and walked away behind her desk muttering to herself as she began her timeout period.

”Now you have done it, stupid woman. Don’t diddle kids. It doesn’t matter how amazing their minds are. Stupid woman. Oh for shits sake what is wrong with you?...Please don’t tell Valerica, she will go feral.”
