The hivemind is conquering for me?

”All right, hand over your valuables, or I’ll gut you like a Fish!” A man wearing very little clothing said as he blocked my path. His right arm and leg were metal augments and very cheap ones by the looks of things. He was wielding a small knife as he threatened me and I just looked at him with pity.

Materialising Zircon from my Mindspace into my extended arm, I warned. ”Do you really want to do this?” The man looked between the sword and me, probably wondering where his mark had been hiding the weapon.

”Your weapon is bigger than mine.” He muttered, causing me to tut. ”Let’s not go there... So, are you ready to throw your life away?” Being given the option to walk away from the bigger weapon, he smiled and said. ”Ah, I was just kidding you posh’n Just kiddin’ I’ll be on my way now. Take care!”

He then tucked his knife into his waistband and began walking away with a whistle like he hadn’t just attempted to mug me. ’I mean, fair play to the guy, I had like two feet on him and he was still up for it until my amazing sword rescued me.’ I thought, causing Zircon to vibrate with pleasure in my hand at the praise.

Smiling at my sword sized hive queen for a moment, I then turned serious and spoke aloud. ”Still, I have a feeling you aren’t going to be enough of a deterrent on looks alone and I am going to have to use you at some point.”

Not even two streets later, a woman came screaming from a dilapidated building wielding a butcher’s cleaver. I was going to shout in warning, but I noticed a look in her eye as she charged me that I was all too familiar with. Hunger.

With the condition that only my lovely hive was allowed to look at me like that and get away with it, I barely placed any force into my strike as the woman lunged at me with zero form, causing Zircon to enter into her shoulder, cutting through the bone like it wasn’t even there and stopped once I reached her navel.

The woman’s screech of agony only lasted a moment, before she slumped to the ground, Zircons beyond razor sharp edge, causing even more damage as she fell. I then looked at the corpse below me and felt a pit in my stomach.

’Heh, even after that war, my moral compass is still hypocritical...’ I must have killed thousands just by myself in that war. Yet I was able to justify it because I was feeding my love and the enemies I engaged were warriors, sworn to fight.

However, when I looked down at the corpse before me, I felt guilt... A civilian, forced by her surroundings into a desperate act. She was still food for my Jewel at the end of the day and if Jewel was to suddenly invade, I wouldn’t even bat an eye at the woman’s death... So why do I feel this way?

Moreso, this left me to begin speculating about my unique otherworldly position. Was this feeling originating from my body, its chemical reactions causing me to feel guilt? Or was it my soul. My Psionic existence, that felt bad?

I don’t even remember my past life anymore. Simply fond memories, glimpses of events, songs, games and history. Clearly my former passions. Was there perhaps something I had forgotten that caused me to feel the way I do at the death of a not so innocent?

I ended up shrugging my shoulders. Now wasn’t the time to mull it over after all. I have had these questions before and the best thing to do was just acknowledge I felt a certain way about it and continue on with my task. Currently being to check the crash sight for survivors.

Now I could walk however far north I needed to go to reach home turf, but that was just effort. If anyone was alive from the crash, they would most likely receive a rescue drop, making my life a whole lot easier.

I then leaned down next to the woman and used a piece of her clothing to wipe Zircon clean. She was a picky eater after all and wouldn’t consume run of the mill malnourished women. With my partner in crime clean, I stood up and began walking north again.

Once I left the vicinity of the woman, like scavengers, the people who had been watching me from cracks in the buildings around me all ran out, taking anything of value the woman had. I swear I heard one shouting about harvesting her bone marrow for a nice broth and scoffed at the irony.

’Sure when my baby eats people because of her perpetual hunger, she is labelled a ’big bad’. But when these guys do it, it’s survival...’ Thinking about the misjustice towards my Dear Jewel, whom I already missed dearly despite seeing her every night through my Far sight as agreed, soured my mood as I continued to trudge ahead.

…

I had a couple more encounters with some wanna be thieves during my midday stroll, but fortunately I didn’t have to fight anyone else. While going over in my head the known justifications as to why Spartari allowed this half of the planet to remain the way it was, I rounded a street corner and finally spotted the crashed back end of the shuttle that was shot down.

As I approached, I was actually shocked to see that two of the soldiers had actually survived. They were both sitting and leaning against the side of the shuttle. One no longer had either of his legs and had tourniquets applied while the other had his helmet off, a large laceration on his balding head that even from where I was as I approached, I could see the skull bone.

The man was talking to someone hidden behind some debris and judging from the look on his face, he seemed angry. Just as I was about to get into earshot, a Loud boom sounded and the man and his friends’ heads were turned into meat chunks.

”Fuck me!” I exclaimed loudly, causing those that had just committed the execution to reveal themselves from the debris pile. As I continued walking, a gang of thugs began to surround me while the man who was holding a double barrelled shotgun and was wearing nothing except a hide harness and ragged pants stood there with a smile plastered on his face.

I eventually came to a natural stopping point in my stroll when the man raised his weapon towards me and said in a suggestive tone. ”Stop right there, good looking, before I change that trait of yours. Now what the fuck is a pansy, tree, noble uncle fucker like you doing in my territory? Are you looking to get skull fucked? Because if you keep on looking at me with that little smirk you have, that’s exactly what is going to happen to you.”

I was momentarily taken aback by the amount of insults just slung my direction. I was not even mad, more shocked how he came up with them so fast. And all of them were incredibly weird.

I had gotten used to Keyla being the ’crass’ one, so to meet someone actually crass... I couldn’t help snort out a laugh. Captain BDSM clearly didn’t like me laughing at his attempt at intimidation and with a single hand gesture, indicated to his goons to raise their weapons towards me.

I looked around taking stock of my surroundings, twenty six individuals. All with small arms. The leader took my looking around as being finally having the sense of fear knocked into me and tried again.

”So, why don’t we start again and you tell me why you are here before I have you service me hmm?” I grimaced at this point. I originally thought the dude was just being ’scary’, but I think he was actually into me and I decided not to play any games as I was uncomfortable.

”Well, I was shot out of that ship there and was about to investigate if anyone survived the crash... Thanks to you, that doesn’t seem to be the case does it? Now, if you don’t mind, I have quite the walk to get back north.”

As I took a step forward, a vein almost burst on the man’s head as he shouted. ”Don’t you fucking dare try to walk away from me you cunt! No, you aren’t going anywhere! You are a noble. Just look at you. So here is how it’s going to go. I am going to rape you. You are going to love it. Then my boys are going to run a train on you for the next few days until they are satisfied and only after all that, we are going to randsome you for a very hefty reward. Now, come here and get to work.”

The man started to lower his pants and I had now seriously had enough of this hemisphere after being back mere hours. ”Fuck this.” In an instant, my armour spread across my entire body and using my Gyrokinesis, I pulled the guy closest to my left through the air without warning towards me and decapitated him in an instant.

There was a pause between the boss man pulling up his pants again in shock and me killing a second person with a thrown rib I pulled out of my first victim before all the goons began opening fire in sheer terror.
