Awakening The Only SSS-Rank Class! Now Even Dragons Obey Me

Chapter 878: A Deal With An Old Man I

Daniel gave no answer for a few moments.

The thin strand of golden-silver light that gleamed between his fingers slowly faded, as if it had never existed. At that same moment, all the changes that had appeared throughout the temple also receded one by one.

The water droplets fell from the waterfall once more. The ancient runes on the columns went dark. And that thousand-year-old silence once again cast its shadow over the founder’s realm.

The only difference was that this time, the silence between them was no longer as before. The temple’s air had grown heavier, naturally due to the question that had formed in the mind of a thousand-year-old being.

”It doesn’t matter where I got this power from.” Daniel lowered his hand quietly and said without the slightest change in expression.

What he had just shown was the purest form of the power and Law of Eternity. Not something just anyone could obtain if they wanted to.

Ordinary Awakened could reach the power of eternity by cultivating the Law of Eternity.

But what he had shown was something that only he, who was practically the concept of eternity itself, had access to and could use.

And of course, the Prophet of Eternity should also be able to use the purest form of eternity. That was also the reason for the founder’s reaction.

He was a Demi-God and could recognize various types of powers and laws better than anyone.

He paused for a few moments and looked directly into the founder’s eyes.

”What matters is that it exists.”

The founder gave no answer. He was still staring at the spot where the strand of the Law of Eternity had appeared moments before.

His eyes slowly narrowed. His gaze was no longer that of someone who knew all the answers.

Rather, it was the gaze of a researcher who had encountered an unknown phenomenon. Like someone who, after thousands of years, had finally found something he didn’t recognize.

That itself was like a joke, because until now he was sure he knew all the world’s secrets... but he had been wrong.

”This power... belongs to which being?” He asked quietly. He couldn’t accept that a young man could possess such power.

Daniel remained silent, and the founder continued:

”Which god stands behind you?”

But again, he received no answer. A few seconds later, with a quieter voice than before, he asked:

”Or... are you yourself the heir to this power?”

A very faint smile settled on Daniel’s lips. He neither confirmed... nor denied.

This silence alone occupied the founder’s mind a thousand times more than any answer.

He had lived for thousands of years. He had seen kings fall, civilizations form and be destroyed.

He had even seen beings that humans called legends.

But he had never seen a being who could make the very concept of the surrounding world react just by showing a fragment of the Law of Eternity.

Daniel took a few quiet steps along the waterfall. The sound of water striking the rocks again filled the temple’s space. Without turning around, he said:

”You spent a thousand years searching for a vessel.”

”A thousand years investing time to find the most suitable body. A thousand years watching people. A thousand years changing others’ futures to reach your goal.” Daniel stopped quietly.

”But it never even crossed your mind that perhaps... the quality of a vessel could be changed.”

This sentence fell like a massive stone into a calm lake. For the first time, the founder had no answer.

His eyes quietly returned to the waterfall. In his mind, thousands of calculations were being made with unimaginable speed.

If what Daniel said was true... if there truly was a law that could elevate a body to such an extent...

Then was his entire thousand-year project... all those sacrifices... all those murders... all those plans... built on a false assumption from the very beginning?

He unconsciously clenched his fist slightly.

Not from anger... but from doubt that, after centuries, had entered his mind for the first time.

Daniel broke that same silence.

”It seems to me you spent a thousand years on the wrong path.”

The temple’s air suddenly grew heavier. From the wounded pride of a being who had considered himself the most complete mage in history for a thousand years.

The founder finally took his gaze from the waterfall and fixed it on Daniel again. This time, there was no trace of his usual smile. He said in a quiet voice:

”If your claim is true, prove it right now.” He himself knew that the power of eternity, originating from the concept of eternity, could multiply the quality of a vessel several times over, and that increased quality might help him reach the peak of the world.

But he wasn’t foolish enough to believe a young man so easily.

Daniel shook his head without a moment’s thought.

”No.” His answer was so decisive that even the founder paused for a moment. He continued:

”First set Lioran aside. Then I will prove it myself.”

A few seconds of silence passed, and then a quiet laugh escaped the founder’s lips.

”You want me to abandon my greatest investment of a thousand years, without any guarantee?”

Daniel shrugged.

”And you want me to show you my greatest trump card right now, without any guarantee?”

Two gazes locked again. Neither was willing to take a single step back. After a long silence, the founder sighed.

”So there’s no agreement.” It seemed in the end, they still couldn’t reach an agreement.

Daniel just nodded.

”That’s enough for today.” Though he had never planned to give up on his plan, and he already had an idea of how to achieve his goal.

In fact, he had already achieved more than he had expected.

His main goal had been to simply plant a seed of doubt in the founder’s mind. But looking at the current situation, it seemed he had even managed to create a significant temptation for the old man.

Based on this, perhaps his plan really might succeed.

He moved quietly toward the temple’s exit. He had nothing more to say.

But just as he reached the threshold, the founder’s voice echoed through the temple again.

”Wait.”

Daniel stopped, but didn’t turn around. The founder was silent for a few moments, as if searching among very distant memories.

”Until today... only one person had shown me such power.” Then he said quietly

Daniel paused briefly. The founder’s eyes were fixed on the waterfall.

”And that person... long before I reached this position... disappeared from this world.”

The sound of water flowed between them again.

If Daniel wanted to guess, it was easy. The only other person besides him who had and still has such power was the Prophet of the Eternity religion.

After a few seconds of silence, the founder spoke his final sentence; a sentence he himself seemed not to have believed he would ever utter.

”If you truly are the heir to that power, perhaps for the first time in a thousand years, it might be worth changing my plans.” His gaze quietly fixed on Daniel’s back.

”But you must prove it to me. Show me that you can truly give me something better than Lioran...”

”If you succeed, I am willing to set that boy aside.”
