Awakening The Only SSS-Rank Class! Now Even Dragons Obey Me

Chapter 860: The Mother Spell

The endless white space fell into absolute silence for several moments.

A silence born not from the absence of sound, but from the weight of an unknown concept. From the moment the name ”Mother Spell” had echoed through the Sea of Concepts, it was as if this realm itself had forgotten how to breathe.

The hundreds of spells that had been arguing over whose turn it was to ask questions just moments ago now stood motionless.

The small flame spell had lowered its head. The wind spell no longer wore its childish laughter on its lips. Even the darkness spell, which from the beginning had looked at humans with contempt, was now utterly still and silent.

Daniel’s gaze moved among them. He could see respect in their eyes... but it wasn’t just respect. Something deeper also existed.

A quiet fear, mixed with reverence.

As if the name they had heard belonged not to a being they merely obeyed, but to the very source of their existence.

And this caught Daniel’s attention. The name ”Mother Spell” sounded powerful on its own, and even bore a striking resemblance to ”Mother System.”

This made him curious. Could the two share the same origin? Or might they be connected in some way? If his reasoning and guesses were correct, it certainly seemed that way.

This Mother Spell was probably considered the mother of all of them, and the First Spell would be its first child.

Finally, Daniel fixed his gaze on the old man made of floating runes.

”What is the Mother Spell?”

No answer came. Not from the First Spell, not from the other spells. Even the Sea of Concepts seemed to prefer not to speak of that name.

A short while later, the First Spell quietly opened his luminous eyes.

”That question... is still too early for you.”

Daniel frowned very slightly, but said nothing. He knew that some answers cannot be obtained through insistence.

The First Spell held his staff made of ancient runes quietly beside him and looked at the white horizon.

”Humans always imagine this place was made for their own education.” His voice was quiet, but every word spread like a wave through the entire Sea of Concepts.

”They think the tower’s founders built this place to pass magic on to future generations.” A very faint smile appeared on the old man’s face.

”But the truth... is completely the opposite.”

Daniel listened silently.

”This place... was never built for humans.” The surrounding spells quietly raised their heads.

”Long before the first human understood the concept of magic... this place existed.”

”Long before the first tower was built... this place breathed.”

”And long before even the first language was formed... we lived here.”

Daniel’s eyes narrowed for a moment. He had heard these things from Azreon and knew about this history, but why did this spell need to remind him of it?

The First Spell continued.

”We were once like you.”

”Incomplete, inexperienced, meaningless. To become complete... we built this place.”

The small flame spell smiled bitterly.

”Back then, I didn’t even know what flame meant.”

The wind spell laughed quietly.

”I was just movement.”

The time spell muttered under its breath.

”And I... didn’t even understand flowing.”

The First Spell continued.

”The thousand spells you see today... were all once students. Over thousands of years, we grew, made mistakes, learned.”

”We changed and gradually developed personalities.” He looked around quietly.

”Then... humans found this place. They only saw part of the truth. They saw that whoever enters here receives spells. They saw that they learn something.”

”And from what they learned, they built magic.”

”They named this place... the Trial.” He smiled briefly.

”While this place... was never a test for humans. It was our school.”

For the first time, even Daniel was silent for a few seconds. This was far more than what Azreon had told him, and he doubted anyone other than the tower’s founders knew this truth.

If this was true... everything the magic tower had known about the Trial of a Thousand Spells for thousands of years... was just a great misunderstanding.

They thought these spells were the foundation of the magical world, while clearly these spells looked at the current magical world with contempt and saw it as stagnant.

The First Spell turned his gaze back to Daniel.

”But from this moment on... the real test begins.” He raised his staff slowly.

”We no longer want to know what you know. We want to see... whether your way of thinking can grow alongside us or not.”

”We need a candidate to become complete. A being who can be our body, our soul, our form... If you succeed, all our power will be yours.”

At that moment, three lights separated from among the hundreds of spells. The first light was the Time Spell.

Its body was made of broken clocks of light, and each step made moments of past and future fade around it.

The second light was the Gravity Spell.

A heavy being with black rings constantly spinning around it, bending even the white space itself.

The third light was the Light Spell.

A radiant figure that was almost impossible to look at directly.

All three stood before Daniel simultaneously.

The Time Spell asked:

”If time stops... does change disappear, or is it just the observation of change that disappears?”

The Gravity Spell asked:

”If no mass exists... does gravity cease to exist, or does it simply have nothing to act upon?”

”If no observer exists... does light still have meaning?” the Light Spell said quietly.

Three questions. Three concepts. Three different answers.

But Daniel knew that if he answered them separately, he would fail. He closed his eyes.

All sounds quieted, and then he sank into deep thought, using every cell of his brain to find the answer.

He knew that these spells expected a specific, extraordinary answer, and if not, they would be disappointed.

A moment later, he opened them again.

”All three questions... are just different appearances of the same question.”

The three spells watched him carefully.

”You didn’t ask about time, gravity, and light. You’re asking about the relationship between concept and observation.”

The Light Spell trembled for a moment, as if excited.

Daniel continued.

”No concept depends on observation. But without something for the concept to affect... its existence cannot be proven.”

”Time without change still exists.”

”Gravity without mass is still a law.”

”Light without an observer is still part of reality.”

”The only thing that disappears... is the ability to prove them.”

The three spells were completely silent for a few moments. They had received answers to their questions, but still felt the answers were too strange.

And Daniel hid a smirk, because this answer was more of a word game.

Then... the Time Spell was the first to speak.

”Accept him.”

The Gravity Spell objected.

”No, there’s still a flaw. He separated concept from observation, but said nothing about the cause of the concept’s existence.”

The Light Spell whispered quietly.

”That’s true... but his perspective... is different from everyone else’s. None of the previous participants approached it from this angle.”

The three spells began to argue with each other.

Daniel understood that even among the spells themselves, there was no absolute consensus. They too were searching for truth.

And they too argued with each other to reach better answers.

At that moment... outside the trial... all eyes were fixed on the stone pillar beside the gate.

The number ”1” that had been glowing on the pillar since the start of the test...

Suddenly vanished. It didn’t turn to two, didn’t turn to another number. It just disappeared.

Simultaneously, thousands of runes on the ancient gate began to shift. Designs that had remained unchanged for hundreds of years were slowly transforming.

Azreon lost his color for the first time. His aged eyes trembled with disbelief.

”The number broke?” Lioran asked with slight surprise.

”...No. The trial... is no longer proceeding by standard measures.” Azreon said quietly, without taking his gaze off the gate.

”Is such a thing even possible?” Another professor said in disbelief.

The old man took a deep breath.

”I... can no longer measure its progress.”

A murmur rose among the professors.

Even Varcas had become completely serious for the first time.

”In my entire life... I have never seen such a thing.” Azreon didn’t take his gaze off the gate.

He had only heard from the founders that when an unparalleled genius appeared, the trial could behave differently...

But to this extent? He couldn’t even understand what was happening.

And on the other side, Serys also had a bad feeling. She felt everything could end in disaster.

She just hoped the entire trial wouldn’t suddenly collapse, otherwise they would be in trouble.

Meanwhile, inside the Sea of Concepts... the First Spell quietly approached Daniel. The initial grandeur and distance were gone. The gap between them was only a few steps.

”I want to see your nature. Is that a problem?” he asked.

”Is it necessary?”

”You don’t smell like a human. You smell like something very ancient that should no longer exist in this world. I want to be sure.”

Daniel nodded in agreement.

The old man raised his hand made of luminous runes and placed his palm on Daniel’s forehead.

At that moment, millions of tiny runes began to move around both of them.

The First Spell’s eyes widened slightly. For the first time... astonishment could be seen in his gaze.

”Now... I understand.” His voice was quiet.

”Now I understand what makes you different. You... are a concept yourself. I had my doubts... but now I’m certain.”

”I don’t understand what you mean.” Daniel asked without reacting, though he had a guess.

The First Spell answered quietly.

”You are from the Primals. A race that was born at the same time as us. You are from the same root from which we originated.”

For the first time, Daniel was slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected the First Spell to recognize his race, because he thought everyone had forgotten about this race’s existence.

But now that he thought about it, perhaps it wasn’t so strange. These spells were practically the concepts that shaped the magical world.

So their power and knowledge must be unrivaled throughout the world.

The spell continued.

”But that’s not the most important part. You... are Eternity itself. A human... who managed to become Eternity, to reach the status of Eternity...”

The First Spell looked deeply into Daniel’s eyes.

”But... there is a problem.”

”What problem?” Daniel asked immediately.

The First Spell was silent for a few seconds, then with a voice very quiet, but heavier than any word spoken until that moment, he said:

”You don’t think according to the laws of this world. And if the Mother Spell finds out about this...”

”Either it will choose you as its heir...” The old man’s eyes darkened with worry.

”Or... it will personally destroy you.”
