Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Ruan Ping’s Essence fell into Zhang Yi’s hands. Instead of hastily absorbing it, he stored it away first.

This battle had cost him considerable energy, but thanks to his home-field advantage and the assistance of the Tianshui City cannons, he secured victory without too much trouble.

However, Ruan Ping’s strength, along with the fact that he had been hiding in Tianshui City for an entire year, still left a shadow of unease in Zhang Yi’s mind.

Zhang Yi’s gaze swept coldly across every direction, like a lord surveying his own domain.

Tianshui City wasn’t as safe as he had imagined, was it?

Could there still be enemies lurking in the shadows?

And this Ruan Ping fellow—who exactly was he? Where did he come from, and what was his true purpose?

None of these questions could Zhang Yi answer at the moment.

After several flashes of movement, he returned to where the Shadow Troop was stationed and released everyone from his dimensional space.

That battle just now had already sent Baili Changqing and the others into a dazed, stupefied state.

Even the mere residual shockwaves of that fight could have effortlessly annihilated all of them in an instant.

Zhang Yi looked at the remaining twenty-nine members of the Shadow Troop and said flatly, ”Every single one of you must strictly follow the procedures and undergo Miss Yang’s testing!”

Who among them would dare raise any objection now? They quickly and obediently shouted in unison, ”Yes, all for the supreme glory!”

Zhang Yi personally watched as each of them went through Yang Xinxin’s test one by one.

Fortunately, the subsequent process went very smoothly. No second Ruan Ping was discovered, and no one had known that a mole like Ruan Ping even existed.

Though this was good news, Zhang Yi still found it hard to feel relieved.

Because Ruan Ping had died by self-detonation. After his death, his body was completely blasted into ashes, making it impossible to obtain any biological tissue or extract any intelligence from him.

”Xiao Honglian!”

Zhang Yi called out.

”Here!”

Xiao Honglian ran out from the crowd and stood before Zhang Yi at rigid military attention, her right hand placed over her chest and her back arched high.

”Supreme One, what are your orders!”

Zhang Yi pointed at her and said, ”You were once part of Tianshui City’s law enforcement apparatus and are highly skilled in criminal investigation. I’m giving you three days to investigate every single person in Tianshui City! Make sure their backgrounds are completely clean, and absolutely no suspicious individuals exist!”

”Xinxin, go to Blizzard City and request the residential records of Tianshui City, then provide them to her!”

Zhang Yi assigned the tasks crisply and efficiently.

Yang Xinxin nodded. ”Okay, big brother!”

Xiao Honglian’s expression was one of excitement—this was the first mission she had received since joining the Shadow Troop.

Now, she once again had the chance to get close to Zhang Yi.

So this opportunity, she would grasp with absolute seriousness! She would work hard to make Zhang Yi see her value.

”Yes, Supreme One!”

Xiao Honglian shouted loudly.

Baili Changqing walked over and looked at Zhang Yi with a concerned expression. ”Captain, about this matter... should we coordinate with Blizzard City?”

Zhang Yi thought for a moment, and a cold smile suddenly crept across his lips.

”Of course! Tianshui City was attacked, with an Epsilon-class Transcendent lying dormant here for a full year. Every major region of the Huaxu Nation deserves suspicion!”

”Even if it wasn’t any of them, it could also be foreign Transcendents plotting something sinister. This matter, I’m going to put on the table for open discussion!”

Fortunately, this time, the enemy had severely underestimated his strength. Otherwise, if that person had struck a year ago, Zhang Yi couldn’t even imagine how terrifying the consequences would have been.

However, he was also well aware that this matter was most likely not orchestrated by any of the Huaxu Nation’s major powers.

Otherwise, they would have informed Ruan Ping about the level of Zhang Yi’s strength.

Zhang Yi brought Yang Xinxin back to the shelter and immediately contacted the leaders of the major Huaxu Nation regions, informing them of the incident.

”Just now, I was attacked by a Transcendent with an ability index of 20,000+. He had been lying dormant in Tianshui City for a full year, which suggests he had been plotting against me for a long time.”

”Everyone, what are your thoughts on this matter?”

Upon receiving this news, all the regional leaders were greatly shocked and repeatedly stated that this had nothing to do with them.

Zhang Yi couldn’t be bothered to talk to them one by one, so he directly set up an online meeting for everyone to discuss the issue together.

If anyone truly had a problem, they would be more likely to reveal cracks in front of the high-ranking officials of all the regions.

Soon, the online meeting convened, and everyone’s 3D holographic projections appeared in Zhang Yi’s living room.

Even Zhu Zheng, the representative of the Jiangnan Region, came in person.

Since Tianshui City had been attacked, he naturally had to express his concern to Zhang Yi.

”Chaos, what exactly happened with this incident? Could you explain it to us in detail?”

The speaker was Xuanwu, Meng Yingchuan of the East China Sea Major Region. He had the appearance of a youth, but whenever he pondered a problem, he always knitted his brows, giving people a sense of youthful maturity.

The others also fixed their eyes on Zhang Yi, hoping he would give a clear account.

Zhang Yi said flatly, ”Today, I discovered a Transcendent in Tianshui City. He had been in the city for at least a year, and when I exposed his identity, he erupted with Black Chariot-tier strength!”

His gaze swept across everyone present.

”Since when did Black Chariot-tier Transcendents become so common? They actually sent one to spy on me, Chaos!”

Zhang Yi’s tone was somewhat mocking, but in truth, this very fact made him less suspicious of the other regions.

A Black Chariot—that was someone capable of standing at the very pinnacle of the Transcendent pyramid in the Huaxu Nation!

Currently, the only Transcendents openly known to have reached the Black Chariot-tier were himself and Houtu.

Who would be willing to waste such a crucial combat asset on lurking in Tianshui City for an entire year?

Sure enough, Li Changgong spoke up first, his tone extremely agitated.

”This is absolutely absurd! A Black Chariot-tier Transcendent—I... I’d like to know who would waste such a resource like that? And across the entire world, which nation even has that kind of audacity?”

He had originally wanted to say that even he, the King of the Northwest, was only at 18,000 points right now, but the words stuck in his throat and he couldn’t bring himself to say them.

In the Shengjing district, the newly appointed Supreme Commander Meng Yuanjun appeared to be a mild-mannered middle-aged man.

He also said with a smile, ”Indeed, no matter how you think about it, this just doesn’t add up! Whether it’s our Huaxu Nation, or Colombia, Freemonts, Britannia, Gaul, or Prussia, Black Chariot-tier Transcendents are few and far between.”

Zhang Yi’s expression was extremely grave, his hands crossed and placed beneath his chin.

”That’s precisely the most troublesome part!”

”If that person wasn’t sent by any of you, then who could it be?”

For a moment, everyone fell into silence. They looked at one another, and a powerful sense of shock gradually rose within their hearts.

Just how powerful would an organization have to be to send a Black Chariot-tier Transcendent undercover?
