Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

The next day, Zhang Yi visited the Shadow Troop’s training academy for the first time.

To welcome his arrival, the Celestial Hound Squad survey team members led by Baili Changqing, along with Ma Wenzheng and all thirty trainees, stood at attention in full gear on the academy’s training ground.

In the morning, a silver-gray snow combat vehicle pulled up to the academy.

Zhang Yi and Yang Xinxin stepped out of the vehicle.

The moment everyone laid eyes on Zhang Yi, barely contained excitement immediately appeared on their faces.

The eyes looking at him practically rippled with adoration.

Even those who had known Zhang Yi before had undergone a noticeable shift in their feelings toward him under Ma Wenzheng’s education over this period.

That look in their eyes spelled out four words in unmistakable letters: reverence like a god!

Such training results pleased Zhang Yi immensely. What he needed was a Transcendent force completely loyal to him.

And more importantly, one that would not hesitate to die for him at a critical moment!

Ma Wenzheng pressed his right fist to his chest and shouted at the top of his lungs: ”For the supreme glory!”

The trainees behind him, including Baili Changqing, executed the same motion in perfect unison, their war cries piercing the sky.

”For the supreme glory!”

Watching this scene, Zhang Yi couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Something about it felt strangely familiar.

Fortunately, Yang Xinxin had briefed him before they arrived.

Zhang Yi raised his right hand. ”You’ve all worked hard!”

Baili Changqing stepped forward a few paces, standing with hands clasped behind his back and legs apart.

”Supreme One! Shadow Troop Training Class 101, thirty trainees assembled and ready! Please give your orders!”

Zhang Yi’s gaze swept across the gathering. He recognized many of the faces there, though a few were new to him.

”Let me see what you’ve learned so far!”

Zhang Yi couldn’t be bothered with formal pleasantries, so he spoke plainly.

”Yes sir!”

Baili Changqing turned around and immediately issued orders to the group.

What followed was the training demonstration segment.

A full month of completely above-standard military drilling meant the first thing on display was basic combat proficiency.

Obstacle crossing, and comprehensive hand-to-hand combat.

Zhang Yi pulled a sofa chair out of his dimensional space and set it on the ground. He and Yang Xinxin sat down at leisure, quietly enjoying the show.

Baili Changqing truly lived up to being a top-tier soldier. These ragtag fighters from Tianshui City had fallen into his hands, and in just one short month, he had already whipped them into respectable shape.

Zhang Yi had spent three grueling years training under Liang Yue himself, so he qualified as something of an expert in this field. He could clearly see that these Transcendents had made remarkable progress and now possessed preliminary soldier-level fundamentals.

However, that wasn’t the most important part.

For Transcendents, the key was always the use of their supernatural powers!

And the second phase of the demonstration was exactly that, their abilities!

Zhang Yi called Baili Changqing over and said to him, ”This dry, scripted performance is boring! Just have them fight each other one-on-one!”

With him present, no one would die. Even severe injuries could be quickly healed.

Only real combat was the best way to elevate a Transcendent’s strength!

Baili Changqing nodded without the slightest hesitation upon hearing this. He turned around and began assigning opponents for them.

”You and you! Pair up for combat. Go all out, with the goal of killing your opponent!”

”You two, pair up and head over there!”

”You support-type Transcendents, pair up with combat-type Transcendents for 2v2 matches!”

”Medical Transcendents, be ready to provide treatment at all times!”

...

In less than a minute, Baili Changqing had arranged everything.

The training ground was more than spacious enough, and soon they split into groups and began engaging in battle.

Zhang Yi pulled out some snacks and sat off to the side with Yang Xinxin, watching at a relaxed pace.

His attention, however, lingered most on a few familiar faces.

Xiao Honglian, Xing Tian, and Lu Dahai.

These three were the veteran ”powerhouses” of Tianshui City. Before entering the Shadow Troop, their ability index had only been 5,000-6,000 points. That was because Zhang Yi hadn’t given them the conditions to improve their strength, and he had also deliberately suppressed them to some degree.

Now, with ample training resources and professional instructor guidance, their power had reached a whole new level.

Xiao Honglian’s opponent was a Transcendent who could control earth and stone.

During the fight, he directly made the ground tremble, destabilizing Xiao Honglian’s footing.

”Rumble!”

The earth split apart, and a massive fissure opened up right beneath Xiao Honglian’s feet.

Unless one possessed the ability to fly, fighting on the ground was extremely vulnerable to such tactics.

Sure enough, although Xiao Honglian’s feet remained firmly planted on the ground, the shifting of the entire terrain made it impossible for her to maintain her balance.

Her opponent immediately drew his gun and fired at her without hesitation!

The moment he reached for his weapon, Xiao Honglian decisively rolled to the side multiple times in quick succession.

She pressed her right hand against the ground, and crimson patterns like molten magma crawled up her arm. Scorching heat surged into the earth, rapidly melting the ice and snow all around her.

”BOOM!!”

A torrent of magma erupted violently from beneath her opponent’s feet, blasting straight up toward his groin!

The Transcendent’s face went white with terror. He instinctively reached down to protect his precious parts, but the boiling magma still engulfed his lower body.

”AAAAHHHH!!!”

He let out a blood-curdling scream as flames roared over his body, leaving him with severe burns.

”Hurry, hurry, someone save him!”

The medical team nearby immediately rushed over. Only they hadn’t expected that in this kind of weather, they would actually have to figure out how to put out a fire!

It was Xiao Honglian who, seeing that her opponent had lost all ability to resist, extended a hand toward him. The flames on his body were immediately drawn away, flowing into her palm.

Xiao Honglian clenched her fist and shot a proud smile toward Zhang Yi in the distance.

Zhang Yi nodded.

”Very good. This woman’s talent really does have something to it.”

Xiao Honglian’s talent had never been lacking. At the very least, compared to Uncle Yu, hers was only higher, never lower.

It wasn’t that her ability was especially powerful, but rather that this woman was exceptionally clever. As a result, she was better than most at studying her craft and pushing her ability to its maximum potential.

Yang Xinxin said, ”With proper nurturing, she’ll be another captain-level Transcendent in the future! This woman has excellent cost-effectiveness.”

Yang Xinxin liked to quantify things, even people.

Delta-level Transcendents could theoretically almost all reach captain-level. It just came down to talent, which determined how much time and resources each one required.

Simply put, Xiao Honglian had higher cultivation value.

Zhang Yi nodded. ”Indeed.”

Meanwhile, on the other side, Lu Dahai’s combat performance was equally outstanding. He was someone Zhang Yi had given special attention to.

His fishman transformation granted him tremendous physical prowess even on land. If he entered the deep sea, he would become even more formidable.

As for Xing Tian, his individual combat ability was fairly average compared to his group support ability. But his strength lay in excellent overall versatility.
