Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

The thirty members of the Shadow Troop’s inaugural training class gathered in a classroom at the academy that morning.

Calling it a classroom was generous, it was really just a slightly larger tiered meeting room.

Thirty Transcendents sat scattered throughout the space, and looking at them now, they were practically unrecognizable compared to a month ago!

They wore specially crafted combat suits, and on the left chest area was embroidered a black character, [Yi].

Every single one of them radiated vitality and confidence. In just one short month, their abilities had improved dramatically, so their faces were practically etched with pride.

In fact, a month ago, some of them had only grasped the crudest methods of using their supernatural powers, barely stronger than ordinary people.

But now, they had all long since separated themselves from the ranks of common mortals.

We are the favored children of heaven!

Many members of the Shadow Troop believed exactly that.

Only Lu Dahai and the others, who had followed Zhang Yi for a long time and were also high-ranking figures from the Three Major Bases, appeared far more composed.

Compared to those trainees who had only recently awakened their supernatural powers, they had a much clearer understanding of just how vast the gap was between their current strength and that of the people in the shelter.

They didn’t yet have the capital to be arrogant.

But whether it was Xiao Honglian, Xing Tian, or Lu Dahai, all of them desperately yearned for the day when they too could become Zhang Yi’s right and left hands, just like You Jiguang and Xu Chunlei.

Lu Dahai raised his wrist, pulled back his sleeve, and revealed a solid gold Patek Philippe watch to check the time.

”Eight-fifty. Almost time.”

Although all sorts of smart systems were incredibly advanced now, and there was absolutely no need for old-fashioned mechanical timepieces to tell the time, Lu Dahai still had a special fondness for them.

Before the apocalypse, he had been a poor fisherman. Luxuries worth millions like this, he had only ever seen on television.

So now, whenever he had the chance to obtain these luxuries that were once beyond his wildest dreams, he would collect them with fervent enthusiasm.

By now, his room was practically stuffed full of these things. Even though they weren’t worth much anymore, they still brought him a sense of satisfaction.

A man with messy, long hair and an unremarkable appearance sidled over.

”Brother Dahai, what are you looking at?”

”Checking the time.”

Lu Dahai pulled his sleeve back down, a little embarrassed to have anyone see his watch.

After all, things like this, nowadays he was the only one still playing with them.

He looked toward the classroom door and said softly, ”Yesterday the instructor said today we’d have a cultural class arranged for us. I’m curious, what exactly are they going to teach us.”

The long-haired man was named Ruan Ping. He rubbed his stubbly chin and said with a puzzled expression:

”Yeah, weren’t we trained to fight? What’s the use of a cultural class?”

From not far away, Xing Tian laughed and chimed in, ”Pfft, old Zhang can’t escape convention either! This is just like those corporations from the old days, bored out of their minds every day, so they have to come up with all this pointless stuff. They think it’ll unite their subordinates, but everyone’s sick of it. Let’s just half-listen and get through it!”

He couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to this kind of cultural class at all.

Xing Tian had already planned it, he’d just sit in the back and use his smart device to watch a movie.

Anyway, just coast through until class was over.

But Lu Dahai shook his head.

”No, it’s not that simple!”

He frowned, thinking very seriously: ”Mr. Zhang is an extremely intelligent man. He wouldn’t engage in this kind of empty formalism. No matter what he does, there must be a profound reason behind it!”

Xing Tian curled his lip. ”You’re being a bit of an idol worshiper there, aren’t you?”

Lu Dahai chuckled. ”Mr. Zhang is indeed my idol!”

Just as the two were chatting, the classroom door swung open.

Baili Changqing’s burly figure appeared in the doorway, and every Shadow Troop trainee immediately sat up straight, their backs ramrod stiff as telephone poles.

After a month of training, Baili Changqing was nowhere near as easygoing as he was around Zhang Yi.

With these trainees, he really did drill them within an inch of their lives!

He tormented them relentlessly, but it truly did rapidly improve their combat capabilities.

Baili Changqing stood at the door, his cold gaze sweeping across the classroom, making every trainee feel like needles were pricking their backs.

At that moment, another figure walked in from behind Baili Changqing.

A man only about 1.6 meters tall with an unremarkable appearance, hair neatly combed, wearing a thick overcoat, stepped up to the podium.

His coat was far too large and he was quite short, so he looked somewhat comical, like a child who had secretly borrowed his parents’ clothes.

Xing Tian muttered under his breath, ”Isn’t that... Ma Wenzheng?”

After Ma Wenzheng arrived in Tianshui City, he had been assigned to Xing Tian’s Qingpu Base, where he’d been helping Xing Tian manage the base. Over such a long time, the two had worked together quite well, and under Ma Wenzheng’s professional management, the Qingpu Base had become quite well-organized.

Ma Wenzheng stepped up to the podium and scanned the unruly Transcendents below with a genial smile.

He clasped his hands together and said with a smile, ”Hello everyone, I am your political ideology teacher, Ma Wenzheng! I believe some of you in the audience already know me. Starting today, I will be conducting courses related to political ideology for all of you!”

Hearing this, the Transcendents below couldn’t help but start muttering among themselves.

Some of them began complaining in low voices.

”Seriously, this same old routine again!”

”How boring.”

”What a drag. Are they treating us like three-year-olds?”

They weren’t children anymore. They had heard and seen this kind of tactic countless times, and no one took it seriously at all.

Only Gao Tianwu, who had just returned from Shengjing, earnestly pulled out his smart device, intending to record Ma Wenzheng’s lecture so he could review it repeatedly later.

As a newcomer to Tianshui City, his seniority wasn’t high, so after returning he had remained fairly low-key.

Accumulate in silence, then stun everyone with a single explosive showing, that was his style.

But the expression on Ma Wenzheng’s face turned serious.

”As you all know, since the Ice Age descended, humanity across the entire planet has been struggling to survive. Countless of our compatriots died in that brutal catastrophe. And we are the lucky ones, surviving to this very day!”

”But in these past three years, has the world truly been as peaceful as we imagine it to be?”

Ma Wenzheng looked at everyone present.

The group couldn’t help but lower their heads and begin to ponder.

Although they had never left Tianshui City, that didn’t mean they were completely unaware of the situation beyond.

Of course, this owed much to Yang Xinxin’s deliberate dissemination of certain information.

There was no need to exaggerate anything, because the outside world was already extremely dangerous!

Outside Tianshui City, despite Blizzard City holding the dominant position, the entire Jiangnan Region was riddled with warlord Transcendents carving out their own territories.

Those vicious Dissidents were utterly ruthless, killing people as easily as eating a meal, truly in the most literal sense.

Using humans as food had become a common occurrence in these resource-scarce years of the apocalypse.

And beyond the Jiangnan Region, things were only worse.

The only reason they had been able to survive peacefully for three years, almost never facing a life-threatening crisis, was simply because they lived in Tianshui City.
