Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

When Deng Shentong said this, Zhang Yi was naturally more than willing to go along with it.

After all, the Deng family was handling the matter, so he bore no responsibility whatsoever. However, when it came to the benefits from this affair, he intended to claim the lion’s share.

Zhang Yi didn’t bring up the topic of profit distribution.

This operation had filled his pockets to the brim.

Two Essences, one from Kami-musubi-no-Kami and one from the Ultimate Evil Boy, the original copy of Wang Yangming’s Philosophy of the Mind, and a mysterious small golden dragon specimen.

Oh, and that enormous skeleton of an ancient creature, suspected to be a giant dragon, also held considerable research value.

Deng Shentong didn’t touch on that subject either. Instead, he brought Baili Changqing and Wu Di along and left the shelter, heading to patrol the coastline.

That night, Tianshui City was calm and tranquil.

Zhang Yi enjoyed a good night’s rest.

However, this trip to Neon had stirred up no small storm on the international stage.

No matter who currently held the real power in Neon, it remained an outpost of Colombia.

Zhang Yi’s brazen assault on Edo City and annihilation of the Demon-Sealing Court was hardly a trivial matter.

Soon, the upper echelons of every major region in the Huaxu Nation received word of what had happened.

And Colombia had also begun to stir.

The negotiations between the parties were complex and lengthy, but those weren’t things Zhang Yi cared about.

Early the next morning, as he woke up and sat down for breakfast, Deng Shentong brought up a few matters at the table.

”Colombia, along with the interim representatives from Neon, have filed a formal protest. They’re demanding an explanation from us regarding this incident!”

”Last night, Shengjing launched an inquiry against Blizzard City without delay. The Commander-in-Chief summoned my uncle, and the two of them talked through the entire night.”

Zhang Yi stirred his milk oatmeal porridge in the bowl and asked casually, ”So, did they manage to come to some conclusion?”

Deng Shentong looked at Zhang Yi and smiled. ”It’s not really a big problem. We’re living in chaotic times now. Whoever has the bigger fist gets to call the shots.”

”We’ll just say that we discovered Neon had long been colluding with underground civilization forces, plotting to overthrow human rule. They’re all ’traitors to humanity’!”

”Besides, Canero and the others witnessed with their own eyes those non-human beings appearing in Edo City. The evidence is solid! And since all the Demon-Sealing Court members have been eliminated by us, whatever we say, they can only listen and accept.”

Zhang Yi said flatly, ”That’s good then. But from what I know about them, this matter won’t be resolved so easily.”

Deng Shentong spread his hands. ”You know them better than anyone! The foreign powers can be handled by the higher-ups, but since we acted on our own, they won’t just let this slide.”

Zhang Yi continued sipping his porridge without saying a word, just calmly watching Deng Shentong.

They’d agreed on this before: handling subsequent troubles was the Deng family’s problem.

Deng Shentong let out a helpless sigh.

”We have to let them taste some sweetness too, don’t we?”

Zhang Yi dropped his spoon with a clatter.

”Is Zhu Zheng expecting an explanation from me?”

His expression carried a hint of a smirk.

Deng Shentong’s tone faltered for a moment, and he quickly said, ”That’s not what I meant. It’s just that the things we obtained this time will naturally have to be shared with the region’s upper echelons.”

”Moreover, Shengjing has learned about the ancient creature fossil we recovered from Undying Mountain, and they’ve expressed great interest in it.”

Zhang Yi said, ”As per our agreement, I’ll be studying the original copy of Philosophy of the Mind for some time. Once I’m done with my research, I’ll let you take a look.”

”However,” he rubbed his fingers together, gazing at Deng Shentong with a knowing look, ”we never discussed how to split the golden dragon specimen and the ancient creature fossil.”

”They’re both things I snatched back, aren’t they?”

Deng Shentong’s face immediately fell.

”Zhang Yi... you can’t do this to me!”

If that were really the case, wouldn’t he end up drawing water with a bamboo basket, achieving nothing at all?

Seeing Deng Shentong’s aggrieved expression, Zhang Yi burst out laughing.

”Hahaha! I’m just pulling your leg, don’t take it seriously!”

In reality, last night he’d already had Zhou Ke’er run tests on the ancient creature fossil and the golden dragon specimen.

But the results were less than satisfactory.

According to Zhou Ke’er, the golden dragon specimen hadn’t existed for very long, no more than a thousand years, so traces of biological genetic residue could still be detected.

Zhou Ke’er had preserved a small slice of that genetic residue.

As for the ancient creature fossil, did you hear that? ”Fossil,” those two words are quite telling.

Because so much time had passed, it had already turned to stone. There was nothing left to extract from it!

According to Zhou Ke’er, aside from preserving the shape of the creature, there was nothing of value left inside.

Though the bones were indeed incredibly hard, even surpassing certain rare metals.

Still, its practical utility was extremely low. Its greatest significance might be displaying it in a museum for exhibitions in the future.

Zhang Yi wasn’t foolish enough to wait around for someone to ask before investigating the value of these items.

He crossed his fingers, resting his elbows on the table, and looked at Deng Shentong. ”I’m a man of my word. Whatever I promised to give you, I’ll give you.”

”What you want, I can give you. But you need to tell me: what do you plan to do with them?”

With that, Zhang Yi directly produced the small golden dragon specimen from his dimensional space and placed it on the table.

Deng Shentong’s eyes locked onto it, then he said to Zhang Yi, ”It might possess a power that can drive biological evolution! I hope to find a breakthrough to the Epsilon-class from it!”

His gaze was deadly serious, and his hands clenched tightly.

In front of Zhang Yi, he knew that lying served no purpose and would only invite Zhang Yi’s disdain.

So he had to tell the truth and move Zhang Yi with sincerity.

”A power that drives biological evolution?”

Zhang Yi looked at the little golden dragon and couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

He’d studied this thing before, so why hadn’t he sensed anything?

Could it be that its effects varied from person to person?

A dragon?

Was it really a dragon?

Or was it just some kind of mutated lizard?

In the field of genetics, the Deng family was ahead of world standards.

Zhang Yi thought it over and decided to hand it over to Deng Shentong, letting Deng Corporation Technology conduct the research.

”Fine! Since you’ve put it that way, I’ll entrust it to you. Good luck!”

”But I want a research report from you every single day!”

Zhang Yi said to Deng Shentong with a beaming smile.

Deng Shentong was overjoyed.

”Of course! The Deng family will always be friends with you!”

Zhang Yi thought to himself: That would be for the best.

”By the way, about that ancient creature fossil, you see...”

Deng Shentong rubbed his hands together, his face full of anticipation.

”You mean the one Shengjing wants?”

Deng Shentong nodded.

”Right now, Shengjing represents the Huaxu Nation in all matters. This time, they’re also the ones who’ve shouldered some of the international pressure.”

”How strange. What do they want with a fossil that’s at least several million years old?”

Zhang Yi didn’t have much interest in that fossil, but since Shengjing wanted it, he was happy to do them a favor.

So he readily agreed to Deng Shentong’s request.
