Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

The next morning.

When Zhang Yi got up, he was about to head to the dining room for breakfast when, passing through the hallway, he saw Deng Shentong leaning against the wall, seemingly waiting for him.

”Are you waiting for me?”

Zhang Yi asked.

Deng Shentong lowered his crossed arms and smiled. ”Sorry! I didn’t sleep a wink all night.”

With the mission a failure, how could he possibly sleep?

”Is there something new you want to tell me?”

Zhang Yi walked forward, with Deng Shentong following closely behind.

”Even though the items aren’t at the Daliangdu Museum, they’re definitely at Undying Mountain! Whether it’s the original Philosophy of the Mind or the dragon specimen, both are incredibly important to us. So I hope you can help me!”

Zhang Yi didn’t look back. ”I’ll give you time to convince me. If you don’t have a strong enough reason, let’s shelve this plan for now.”

Deng Shentong said, ”The global arms race has never stopped. For the past few decades, it’s been about electronics and the space race. But with the arrival of the Ice Age, the role of conventional weaponry and troops has been greatly diminished.”

”Now, Transcendents are the focus of research for every nation!”

”If we don’t get stronger, we’ll be overtaken by other countries sooner or later. Our ancestors tasted the pain of isolation and closed-door policies centuries ago.”

Zhang Yi looked at him. ”So you’re saying those two items are worth more than we imagined?”

Deng Shentong smiled. ”The handwritten notes of one of only two sages in Huaxu Nation’s five thousand years of history. The specimen of a mythical dragon. Do you think their value is significant enough?”

Zhang Yi smiled faintly, but his eyes turned deep and thoughtful.

He had seen one page of Wang Shouren’s notes, and the content had indeed benefited him greatly.

If he could obtain the complete notes, he might find a shortcut to increase his power.

In this world full of variables, only by constantly growing stronger could he ensure the safety of himself and those around him.

”This is a reason to go to Edo City, but it’s not a sufficient condition. If you want me to act, you’d better bring greater support!”

Zhang Yi let out a scoff. ”Otherwise, you really expect me to handle the Ocean Fleet and the top Transcendents of the Demon-Sealing Court all by myself?”

Deng Shentong seemed to have been waiting for Zhang Yi to say exactly that.

”I have a way to keep the Transcendents of the Ocean Fleet from acting!”

This statement stunned Zhang Yi for a few seconds. He looked at Deng Shentong with suspicion.

”You have a way? Looks like I’ve really underestimated your Deng family. Your clout rivals the entire East China Sea fleet!”

Zhang Yi’s words carried a hint of teasing.

Deng Shentong shook his head.

”Of course I don’t have that kind of influence! But I know the principle of relieving the besieged by besieging the base of the besiegers.”

Zhang Yi raised an eyebrow, crossed his arms, and said, ”Get to the point! Tell me how you can manage that.”

The smile on Deng Shentong’s face grew a bit more intense, but Zhang Yi felt there was something almost manic about it.

”Zhang Yi, do you still remember the Mist Valley on Star Island?”

”Its location is actually closer to the Ocean Fleet than to Huaxu Nation.”

”The situation there is dangerous now. The toxic fog on the island has been spreading toward the ocean. Faced with this mysterious place, both perilous and full of treasure, the Ocean Fleet is both greedy and terrified.”

”If we do something to it, what do you think will happen to the Ocean Fleet?”

Zhang Yi’s expression suddenly became focused.

The Mist Valley on Star Island had always been one of his headaches.

The Sky Dragon King was suspected to have fallen into the hands of the Mist Valley creatures and been transformed into a monster. His dying warning still unsettled Zhang Yi.

During the last Mist Valley anomaly, Zhang Yi couldn’t participate because he had to go to the Southwest Region.

Both the East China Sea Major Region and the Ocean Fleet sent people.

In the end, Zhang Yi only knew that Qinglong had successfully obtained a share of God Essence and advanced to become an Epsilon-class Transcendent.

The Ocean Fleet lost five warships but also gained something in the end.

”Your meaning is to artificially trigger an anomaly on Star Island, forcing the Ocean Fleet to send people to deal with it?”

Deng Shentong nodded.

”The forces closest to the Mist Valley are the East China Sea Major Region and the Ocean Fleet. Other neighboring small countries lack Epsilon-class combat power and don’t even qualify to participate.”

”As long as we keep the Ocean Fleet’s top combat power occupied, we can charge into Undying Mountain! Then retrieve our national treasures!”

After hearing this, Zhang Yi took a deep breath and forcefully exhaled.

”Do you know how dangerous this is?”

Zhang Yi stared at Deng Shentong with sharp eyes.

”Provoking an underground civilization could have terrifying consequences! You were there during the Qinling Mountains expedition. But you never experienced that kind of horror!”

”Deng Shentong, this might bring a huge crisis to the human world on the surface. Do you understand?”

Deng Shentong pondered for a moment, then suddenly looked up at Zhang Yi and said, ”But even if there is danger, it won’t face us first. It’ll be the nations in the Southeast Sea region and Colombia’s Ocean Fleet, right?”

He spread his hands. ”Using a tiger to drive out a wolf isn’t a bad plan. Unless Colombia is willing to completely abandon the Southeast Sea and let Huaxu Nation take control of that outlet. Otherwise, they have to send troops to suppress it!”

Zhang Yi let out two cold laughs.

”Deng Shentong, as expected of someone from an elite family. On the surface, you seem refined and gentle, but when it comes to problems like this, you’re more ruthless than anyone!”

Deng Shentong said, ”The invasion of this world by mysterious civilizations has already begun. I’m just accelerating the process, and doing so helps us achieve our goals. Why not?”

Zhang Yi stared at Deng Shentong for several seconds.

He didn’t rush to give an answer, because this approach was too crazy. Even he wouldn’t dare to lightly provoke those mysterious underground civilizations.

”Let’s eat first.”

Zhang Yi turned and walked toward the living room.

During breakfast, everyone ate in remarkable harmony, and Deng Shentong didn’t bring up the matter again.

He knew Zhang Yi needed time to think.

Around ten o’clock in the morning, Zhang Yi called Deng Shentong to the door.

”Come on, let me take you to see the people of Tianshui City. You haven’t been here many times, so you’re probably not familiar with this area, right?”

Zhang Yi drove out his snow vehicle and let Deng Shentong get in.

Then the vehicle headed toward the Chaoyu base by the seaside.

Deng Shentong said, ”Indeed, with you protecting this place now, it should be very peaceful.”

”Peace is only temporary.”

Zhang Yi said calmly. ”I can feel it very clearly—this kind of life won’t last much longer. The world is getting more dangerous, too many mysterious civilizations are merging with this world. Sooner or later, there will be violent clashes between different civilizations.”

”I need enough power to protect everything I have.”
