Lord Shadow

Chapter 2043: Meeting An Old Friend

”What a peculiar tree. What a peculiar fruit” he could not help but exclaim to himself.

Azief waves his hand and the leaves of the oak tree flew to his hand.

He opens up his palm and one of the leaf rested on top of his palm.

He narrows his eyes looking at the leaves and he could not help but smiles

A trace of ancient magic flows in the lines of the leaves.

This rows of trees are not transported there but it was already there.

The trees probably are connected to some energy lode below the earth.

The energy then courses through the veins of the trees all around here.

Not only the trees but the grass, the animals, the water, all of it is infused by this pure energy of the energy lode.

The land purifies it and when it reaches the surface, it is the best kind of energy to consume, to inhale and to digest.

It is in the air, the grass, the animals.

But unlike the world before the Fall where such kind of spillage usually means spillage of the worst kind of chemicals or substances, energy spillage and seeping or jutting out from the ground, is the best kind of spillage.

Energy is nourishing. It is strengthening.

”The roots are strong, the nuts are nutritious and the shades brings down energy nutrients to the ground, creating a virtuous cycle” Azief could not help but be amazed at this.

”So, she simply made her residence here to match the aesthetic” Azief thought for a moment but he shook the thought out of his head.

The massive branches arched overhead, interlocking to form a grand shadowed canopy that seems to swallow the midday light

He is walking down that long road. He felt the wind and smell the earth.

The wind brought the scent of flowers, the earth brings forth the scent of life

For a moment he did not think anything else but this moment. He did not use his Divine Sens and he did not force anything.

He simply enjoys this feeling.

And then he saw the house.

He did not go to the garden, or the lake.

After he confirmed certain things before, he is no longer rushing.

The house is beautiful. A striking two-story Neoclassical mansion of gleaming white stucco, bright against the dark woods behind it.

A massive, double-story portico dominated the front, anchored by four soaring Ionic columns that held up the roofline with aristocratic grace.

Evenly spaced, towering windows stared back like dark, silent eyes, each capped with a sharp stone pediment.

There was no sound here but the crunch of gravel underfoot and the distant caw of a crow.

Azief walk to the front of the house.

And before he could even have the chance to knock on the door, the door opened and someone appears in front of the house

A woman.

Wearing thick green clothes.

She looks more like a warm, outgoing aunt in the countryside.

”Sina, it has been quite some time since we see each other”

Azief only chuckles

The old friend. Almost like a sister.

His family.

the friend is none other than Sina the Divine Alchemist.

Even now he could smell herbs and chemical on her.

Sian face show a wry expression

” I was....not expecting this” that is the only words she could say right now

Azief only smiles

”How about some tea then? Let share some stories and appreciate this scenery” Sina sighed and nodded as she gestures him to enter inside

..

In the back of the mansion

Azief and Sina is sitting on a wicker rattan chairs. in between them is a round glass table. And there is a pot of tea and two teacups

Azief did not need to drink or eat.

But it did not mean he did not like eating.

It could not just be considered a habit.

It is more like a want more than a need when you reach his realm

After all, even though he had reached this realm , some of human’s delights are still the same. Eating, having sex, sleeping.

This common natural desire are all delights of human existence

Azief did not need it but that did not ema he would not take it when he is offered

Azief take a sip of the eta while he looks at the green grass in the distance. The backyard has a pond.

There is duck and there are fishes, there is also other things.

Magical and not so magical beast.

He tastes the tea and then he smiles

”This kind of tea is not normal tea. What do you use to brew it?”

”Some magical herbs here and there. I have created new recipes. It has the effect of cleansing energies and also strengthening the body. Though....it would not help much for person of your realm. But for those in the lower level this could help the immensely and make further breakthrough easier. It also has the effects of detoxifying poisons” Azief nodded.

”You are more used to alchemical reactions and alchemical potions. This kind of stuff...tea and medicine are more of the Sage of Medicine methods”

”I learned it from him in the previous conference. As repayment, I thought him how to create the Philosopher Stone” hearing this Azief could not help but chuckle.

”what use would the philosopher stone is for people of this world?”

Sina did not answer immediately instead she took a sip of the tea while Azief put down his cup on the tea cup saucer

”it would not be useful for the people of this world. But it would be very useful for people of other worlds”

”he is hopping worlds? Instead of focusing his matter here on Earth” Azief paused for a moment before adding

”I have been to countless world. None have the kind of energy that Earth have. There is no need to go to other worlds if he wanted to research his medicine”

”he has his own paths.” Azief frowns for a moment before asking

”where he is now?”

”among the multiverse probably”

”Then who is holding the fort”

”probably one of his disciple”

Azief think about it for a moment an then he shook his head.

He did not care where the Sage of Medicine is going or what he is doing.

He had seen that person but it is not like he has a deep connection with the Medicine Sage.

He never needed that person help. And just like Sina, since Azief is a higher level than anyone else, his realm usually trumps other by two or three realms, and even more, the kind of injury that he sustained would not be cured by a healer of a lower realm

If anyone has a deep connection it would be Sina. He is just making small talk.

Sina also notices it.

”Making small talks with me. I did not know that you are so leisurely right now” Azief only smile at this

He closes his eyes and feel the wind blowing and hear the sound of the grass rustling, enjoying the sunshine like there is nothing wrong in the world

Sina then put down the cup on the saucer and then she asks

”Will you not do something about it?” Azief lazily opens his eyes.

”Do what?”

Sina face turns hard and her eyes narrows

She is trying to see....see how much this brother of hers had changed.

Sina and Azief, their relationship is like of a brother and sister.

They are family. Just like how Azief view her as family, she also views Azief as family.

But....even family change.

And she wonders....after a decade....jhow much he had changed

As for her, she knows what changed about her.

But she doesn’t know what changed about Azief.

She had learned a few things while se was involved in this war.

Shocking things. Unbelievable things that made her change the way she looks at Azief right now

And the things she learns make her feel her faith wavering. She could not believe what she heard but she also could not dismiss it.

And since she knew about that ”thing” she, instead of going to the capital and participating in the battle between Sasha and Wang Jian, she is here in a secluded forest inside her large mansion

After knowing some things, she had tried to persuade Sasha to stop.

Sasha did not stop.

Then she even sent message to Wang Jian hoping he would stop.

He also would not stop.

Then, only after these two rejected her, these two that would never disobeyed her words and would always listen to her, she understood something

It is not that those two people did not want to stop.

They wanted to stop.

But both of them have reached a point where they could not stop, could not turn back.

And the only solution is to see this until the end

The people that have died, family, friends, comrades, allies.

The force behind these two, the hopes and dreams of all those people were entrusted to those two. And probably those two also realizes it.

That they have gone too far and could not longer turn back.

Turning back means defeat.

Defeat means death.

Death is nothing to those two.

But they are people that believe in them.

And they are also their own belief and their own conviction of how the world should world and how things should be handled.

So, whatever she says, it would not change anything.
