Lord Shadow

Chapter 2017 2017: Darkness of the World I

They themselves do not know their feeling and sometimes they would make different decision that is unlike them

Even though they did not kill the people…. That does not mean people does not die. There are always unintended consequences when war started.

Even though those two have tried to limit the war only in the capital, there is many ambitious people in the world

When those two are fighting in the capital, other forces are also fighting inside Pandemonium.

Some fight under the banner of Sasha, some fights under the banner of Wang Jian, but all banners in the end, is using loyalty as their motto.

The loyalty toward Death Monarch

Using his name to legitimize their war. The longer the war continues, the more people would be ambitious.

Some people know he is alive.

But they donʼt know his intention.

Some thought that he is in seclusion and will not come out unless the victor is decided.

Some believe that this is attest by him to see who is worthy.

Some of these people that have risen up, some of them believe that Death Monarch allows this.

Some of them even believe that Death Monarch is doing this to let the two people under him fight and the wiener would eb rewarded and the loser to be punished. Many have these thoughts

After all, Death Monarch did not appear even once.

It is inevitable that they would have such ideas.

”You are confident you could, do it?”

Azief smiles

”Now I am ninety percent sure” Katarina frowned

”Knowing your calculations...That is basically one hundred percent”

Azief shook his head.

”Nothing is ever perfect”

At this Katarina nodded. Sometimes, even things she thought was perfect…. there could always be an anomaly. Of course, such kind of anomaly is extremely rare. If itʼs not rare, one would not call it an anomaly

”Do you want to end the war now? If you go to the Palace and show yourself upon Sasha, even though she might doubt your identity in the first place, as long as I stand beside you and you bring out your aura…. then the war would end”

”As for Wang Jian, an imperial edict is enough to make him put down his weapon and come inside to pay respect”

Azief nodded. If he wanted to end the war…. this is the fastest way. Sasha would surely doubt it. He knows Sasha. That woman is not a trusting person. Even more so after she witnessed all kinds of methods to deceive.

She is the head of his intelligence agency. And her long tenure there had thought her that there are many ways to disguise, many ways to confound, enchant and dazzle a person sense and vision.

Even if Azief papers in front of her, unless she detected something definitive, compounded with the current situation, she might not believe him

Like Katarina said, if she is there, shows her power and aura and he shows a sliver of his aura only then Sasha would believe him

Even then she might interrogate him.

After all, the current situation of Pandemonium is in chaos and surely there is people who would try to disguise himself as him

This is one of the countermeasures that Azief himself had devised.

He believes that if he is not in Pandemonium, someone could even pretend to be him.

That is why he also put Disguise Revealing Array in the palace but while that could deter those with mediocre talent in disguising, the ones that have mastered the method of disguising could bypass such arrays

And even if there are beings that shows the same kind of power and aura like him, even then Sasha was warned by Azief himself that there are beings in the Omniverse that could even mimic his aura.

Of course, since he had created such counter measure and put such warning toward Sasha, he also has methods for Sasha to distinguish himself if they do meet each other and Sasha is suspicious.

There is no need for such many verifications.

He and Sasha knows the methods.

And yes, if Sasha acknowledges him then one edict is enough to make Wang Jian put down his weapons.

There is nothing wrong about what Katarina proposed.

The only problem…. Azief look around, his eyes shining golden, looking at the energy foe heaven and earth, the corruption that is now reaching the skies and he shook his head

”It is not enough”

The problem is that Azief did not yet want to end the war.

He had put such a large bait…but only a few that dares bites it

It seems these people have become smarter after repeated failures.

However, he also did not have enough time.

Things he had learned from Wargod, Odin and the Divine Monkey Sage…. all of it pointed that it is time for him to stop to care too much about these worldly matters and focus on the threats above the sky

He also had somehow understood a bit of what will happen to him.

after talking to Wargod and seeing all kinds of vision from the Creator to the one that Odin and others had showed him he somewhat understood what is expected of him and what his original fate and destiny

Even though this is just a speculation on his part, he believes he had cracked the code.

Only thing is that these beings could not tell him directly.

Before he did not understand.

But knowing cause and effect, knowing the binding effect of the power of fate and destiny…. he understood

Wargod just wanted to say his name and the tribulation of heavens descended on him. The entire Omniverse seems ready to spit him out of reality.

That alone shows him what would happens to beings who knows too much and wanting to touch a terrible cause and effect and revealed the heavenly secrets.

”Haish” Azief could not help but sigh. It is good that he is awakened early

He now learns what he should do, and what he should not do.

And some plans he decided to delay should also be brought forward

Certain things he did not want to do before…. he should do.

He sighed.

Then he looks at Katarina. Katarina is now plucking another fruit from the tree. Azief looking at this could not help but chuckle

She always looks like this.

Beautiful…. otherworldly beautiful.

The stronger she is, the more beautiful she became. The power of faith and belief. The most beautiful woman in the world. There is a trace of beauty in everything she did.

Even now, just plucking a fruit from a tree…. if one looks at her, it is like some kind of an elegant painting.

But this woman that is this innocent has also learned how to plot and schemes.

”it seems you also have learned a bit about this kind of stuff” Katarina only smiles

”If you always are surrounded by these kinds of people, even if you donʼt want to learn it, you would also learn about it unintentionally”

Azief chuckles at this.

The Senators in the Senate of the Republic…. all of those are not only military men.

They are people who survived the early years of the Fall

And as people that survives those harsh days, and reach such a high position, none of them are people that could easily be manipulated.

Instead, these are the kind of people that knows how to manipulate other people. The Republic, regardless of some of its flaws, managed to make the entire continent they rule to be peaceful.

Wars rarely broke among the Senators and governors.

It is truly a regime controlled by the law.

Even Boris who had the support of the High Chancellor could not just return to power because of the law.

Even Katarina who loves her brother more than she loves herself, would defer to the law.

Of course, he also knows that the reason why Katarina could still follow the law is because her brother is not threatened to death.

If the scale is about the law and her brother, she would damn the laws. After all, he and her knows it the best

Laws are for order.

It is to maintain order.

And to whom these orders are maintained for?

The rulers.

Even the so-called democracy, most of them were not for the people.

The only difference between authoritarian rule and democracy before the all is only in a few things

One lives in literal cage, the other lives in illusion.

One lives in 1984, the other lives in a Brave New World.

In authoritarian regime, there is no right of free speech and there is no free media.

In democratic nation, there is free speech and there is free media, you could speak but there are different kinds of ways to make sure even if you speak the truth, your words could be distorted, your character could be assassinated, your past flaws could negate all of the truth you speak.

Your media listen and talk to everyone, but for those views which the rulers behind the curtain does not like, they would silence it with criticism, employs all kinds of ”experts” to dissect every word and to fool the common people

If that didnʼt work, character assassination always works.
