What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 888: What Does She Want From Me?

The dealer pushed the cards forward on the table, namely the eight, nine and ten of hearts.

”Straight flush beats two pairs,” The dealer announced before marking me as the winner for everyone on the table to see.

I didn’t even have anything to say to that...

It’s not like I was really cheating or anything like that... I really just got these cards legitimately...

If Amber was here, I might even believe that she had done something to help me get these cards but since she’s not here... This was quite literally just pure luck.

Everyone at the table was looking at Vieretha, clearly waiting to see how she would react as she watched her buy in money disappear to reappear in front of me as part of my earnings within a single round.

She blinked at it before a small smile appeared on her lips as she looked at me.

”My, my~ It does seem like you are favoured by luck aren’t you, Lady Tera?”

I scratched my cheek, ”Umm... I don’t know....”

”Fufufu~ This is interesting~ Now you really have my curiosity, Lady Tera~ Care to join me for a little while?”

At this point, I don’t think it would be good for me to reject her so I nodded and let her lead the way as I cashed out from this game.

She effortlessly glided away from the table through the water and I followed suit, though I did notice that there were a few of her bodyguards that remained at her table.

When we were a little further away, those guys started moving towards the three players who had tried to accuse me of cheating.

I did not get to see what happened before I had turned a corner and disappeared down the side with Vieretha still leading the way.

I really wonder how she was moving through the shallow waters so easily since she was leaving barely any wake behind her as she moved forwards.

It felt almost like the water was the one pushing her forward or something instead of her moving her legs herself to wade through the water.

That was when I realised she was using her tail to propel her forward as it waved behind her like a propeller.

That’s cool.

I was wondering what she wanted from me until she stopped at a section of the casino that was more secluded than the area that we had been in and there were clearly fewer people around as compared to the place we had been in earlier.

Vieretha then turned back to me and giggled, ”Ehehehe~ Hello Lady Tera~ It seems like we meet again~ This must be fate, don’t you think?”

I gave her a pointed look, ”Fate, Lady Vieretha? I’m afraid this is just something you arranged for beforehand, is it not? Have you not been following us since we entered this water park?”

I had a feeling that someone was following us the moment we stepped inside the park but I didn’t really know who it was until now. Which meant that they had been practically standing at the entrance the entire day just to wait for us for some reason.

The Dragonling didn’t even seem upset that she was found out and merely just giggled, ”Fufufu~ I make my own fates, Lady Tera~ And this encounter is certainly fated.”

I’m not really sure if she was trying to insinuate that my fate was in her hands or that she just believes that she controls her own fate or something else entirely.

Still, I decided to just change the topic.

”So... What did you need, Lady Vieretha?”

”Mmm... Didn’t I tell you to call me by another way?”

”That would be disrespectful of me...”

”Fufufu~ And deliberately continuing to call me a certain way is not disrespectful when I already told you not to?”

Tsk... She’s got me there.

Ah fuck it, what’s the worst that can happen anyway?

I gave her a bow, ”Lady Vier.”

”My, my... I said to just call me Vier, Lady Tera.”

I sighed internally.

”Vier.”

She suddenly hugged herself and started squirming around, letting out a weird noise before she relaxed and looked at me again, ”Ahhhh.... Can I call you Tera? Lady Tera?”

”Ummm... Sure?”

She did the same thing again, this time squirming even harder than earlier like she got possessed or something.

It didn’t look like she was going to stop without some outside interference so I called out to her, ”Umm... Vier?”

She immediately snapped herself back to face me, ”Yes, Tera? Mmmmmm~”

Is she alright? She’s not having a stroke is she?

I cleared my throat, ”So umm... The last time we met you said you needed to deal with something important or whatever it was... So what’s this about?”

She smiled at me before she suddenly waded forward and got into my personal space, the Dragonling looking up at me with a sparkle in her eyes.

The kind of sparkle that you might see when a predator has caught its prey and was preparing to devour it.

”Tera~ What do you think of me? Be honest~”

I blinked at her, wondering what this was about.

Maybe she wants to know what my opinion of hers is after meeting her like this several times?

I decided to be a little honest with her, ”I would say you are a beautiful and charming woman who knows what she wants and you’re not afraid of doing what you need to get what you want.”

I intentionally left out the part where I thought that she was also a little scary and I’m worried that she might use her connections to make me disappear or something.

She giggled, ”Ehehe~ I see, I see~ It seems like I did not prepare for nothing then~ In that case... Here you go~”

She gestured at one of her bodyguards who waded over to present a personal terminal to her before leaving.

She tapped on the screen and a holographic display appeared in front of her which she then moved to show it to me.

”There you go~ I would be happy if you were to sign at the bottom here~”

I narrowed my eyes at it, reading what was displayed on it as there was no way I was going to sign something without first reading its contents.

Let’s see... This is to certify that... New owner... Full ownership rights... Kaito Business Holdings...

Wait, what?!

I jerked my head up to look at Vieretha in shock and it seems like she expected my surprise because she let out a giggle when she saw me looking at her.

”Fufufu~ It is what you are thinking of, Tera~ This is not a trick~ Go ahead~”

I shook my head, ”Wait, wait... Let me get this straight... Did you just... Go and buy over that company to give it to me?”

”Fufufu~ That’s right~ I heard that you wanted it, didn’t you? And since that company’s board of executives and the owner had also all died under mysterious circumstances, there’s no reason for them to reject a takeover by me~ And since I took over that company, I can do whatever I want with it so this is for you~”

”No... Wait... Why?”

”Mmmm~ Would you believe me if I were to say that it’s payment for the food that you made for me?”

”It’s definitely not worth this much... It’s not like I used my own ingredients or even my own facilities to make the food after all.”

”Fufufu~ That doesn’t matter. Your skills and your expertise is what made that meal possible~ So this is normal~”

”But... This is way too big of a payment just for that...”

”Consider it a gift then~ A gift to you for entertaining me so much these few days~”

I shook my head, ”No, no... I don’t think my entertainment warrants a gift of this size... And besides... I’m a Mercenary, not a business manager... I wouldn’t even know what to do with something like this. That company would be wasted in my hands...”

”Mmm~ That doesn’t matter at all~ It’s your company, you can do with it however you wish~ Perhaps... You might even want to hire someone to manage it for you?”

Her tail swished lazily behind her while she gave me an expectant look.

Ah... I think I know what her goal is now...

After ’gifting’ this company to me... She wants me to hire her as the manager of the company so that she isn’t the owner in name but is the one controlling it behind the scenes...

So if anything happens, I would be blamed for it since I was the owner in name and she could just do whatever she wanted especially since I was inexperienced in--

”Whatever you are thinking about, that’s not it,” She interrupted my thoughts, her demeanour suddenly serious instead of the teasing atmosphere she had before.

Ok... Are you really sure this person isn’t a Psionic?
