The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 623: Chapter 623: Roasted Pheasant Smells Really Good

Red feathers flew all around, and multicolored tail feathers had been taken to make shuttlecocks; while Shen Cang was roasting the pheasant, Little Taotie was joyfully playing with Big Black and Little Black at the entrance to the Ancient Castle.

Watching the entire process, Hua Jinyan asked, ”Are you sure it’s edible?”

By now, the ”Pheasant” had been plucked, revealing skin red as if dyed.

Shen Cang calmly asked, ”Have you ever eaten black-bone chicken?”

Hua Jinyan pursed his lips. He had indeed eaten it, under whose dark skin lay delicious white meat.

”The concept is the same, just that the skin is a bit red. Once cooked, the inside will turn white and be very tender and fresh.”

Before Hua Jinyan could respond, an exhausted Little Taotie, who had tired of kicking the shuttlecock, came in wiping her sweat.

Seeing the red-skinned pheasant on the chopping board, she swallowed her saliva.

Hua Jinyan remarked, ”You have an appetite for something that looks like this?”

Little Taotie turned to look at him, dead serious, ”Don’t judge food by its appearance.”

Hua Jinyan fell silent.

What Shen Cang was making was roasted chicken. He first chopped off the claws and head of the red-skinned ”Pheasant” and then stuffed its belly with scallions, ginger, and mushrooms to remove the gamey taste.

The light inside the oven was beautiful, glowing a radiant orange.

Little Taotie’s eyes seemed glued to the oven’s glass door.

Suddenly, a pair of hands covered Little Taotie’s eyes.

Leading her away from the oven, Qin Xin released his hands from her eyes.

Little Taotie looked up dazedly, meeting her brother’s gentle smile, ”The oven’s light is bad for the eyes; don’t stay too close to the oven, it has radiation.”

”Big brother, how did you get here?” Little Taotie nodded obediently and moved about ten meters away from the oven; still not quite reassured, she took several more steps back, patting her chest with lingering fear, ”I need to stay far away from the radiation!”

Qin Xin had just happened to be nearby on business. Seeing the time was about right, he decided to swing by and pick up his sister.

Seeing her still moving back, Qin Xin was puzzled, ”That scared?”

Little Taotie touched her own hair, her voice soft and milky, ”Radiation can make you go bald.”

The aroma of the roasted chicken began to drift away...

Mo Haihao and others arrived, attracted by the scent. Mo Haihao was somewhat worried, ”Chief, could this pheasant be lethal, like it’s got some skin disease with its entire body red?”

Xiangxiang remarked, ”Although it smells good, its appearance sure is scary.”

Yuanyuan drooled heavily, his hand wet after the last wipe.

”It looks really tasty, can I get a piece of the chicken?”

Thinking of her whole chicken, Little Taotie, protective of her food, said, ”There’s only one.”

The implication was simple—if you wanted to share, there needed to be two.

Xiangxiang frowned, ”I smell something not quite right.”

”What smell?” Mo Haihao asked.

Xiangxiang replied, ”Can’t tell clearly...”

Shen Cang stated, ”It’s the scent of Chaos.”

Xiangxiang slapped her forehead, ”Right, the scent of Chaos! How can Little Taotie eat something containing Chaos, what if...”

What if she was bewitched, possessed by it.

Out of regard for Little Taotie being present, Xiangxiang didn’t continue.

Shen Cang lightly touched Little Taotie’s head, murmuring very quietly: ”Taotie was born from Chaos, consumes Chaos.”

He spoke so softly and vaguely that no one but him understood exactly what he had said.

There had been rumors that the first Fierce Beast to appear in this world was—Chaos!

Little Taotie’s gaze intently fixed on the roasted chicken, licking her lips, her Little Dimples shallow, like a little cat craving a taste.

”Ding!”

Little Taotie was the first to rush towards the oven, ”It’s ready, the Pheasant is roasted!”

On top of the oven’s rack there was a glass jar, probably meant for holding food; but now, a Spiritual Body was shivering inside it...
