Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

The dim light made the man’s face opposite look even more pale and feeble.

This paleness was different from Fifth Master Foster’s. His was like a handsome young man stepping out of a painting, while Flower Snake’s was due to never seeing daylight, even his lips were a bit grayish. Dressed in a black, buttoned-up cotton-padded jacket, he looked even more eerie, like a ghost in a movie. Ten years ago, his health was already poor, and now it seemed even worse.

Atlas Hallow wouldn’t actively seek out Flower Snake, and Flower Snake wouldn’t look for him either.

It’s been ten years, this kind of relationship is very strange.

”Tell me what you want me to do...” Flower Snake took a drag on his cigarette, choked for a moment, then started coughing violently. Atlas Hallow waited until he finished coughing to speak slowly.

”I need you to quickly find out something for me, you know Ava Walker, someone is funding her to go against the Hallow Family. I’ve discovered that those working for her have no personal relationship with her, it’s just money-driven. Help me find the intermediary connecting them, and then find out whose money she’s using.” As Atlas Hallow finished speaking, the back door of the room was pushed open and someone brought in a cup of tea, placing it on the table next to Atlas Hallow.

The tea was the finest Da Hong Pao, not available on the market, and even at a high price, it remained unobtainable. Yet, someone would naturally choose the best tea that Flower Snake loved to be sent over, which was Flower Snake’s talent.

”Come back in ten days for the results.” Flower Snake nodded, despite the weakness in his voice, Atlas Hallow knew that when he said ten days, there would indeed be results in ten days.

Some people don’t need to speak loudly, yet their words are worth a fortune.

”By the way... I’m going to be a father. I hope you can be my child’s godfather.” As Atlas Hallow was leaving, he turned and whispered to Flower Snake.

”Of course, just don’t let my courtyard scare you.” Flower Snake stretched his mouth as if smiling, and Atlas Hallow waved his hand and left Flower Snake’s courtyard in large strides.

The past between him and Flower Snake wasn’t easy to explain in a few words, but he knew that with Flower Snake as his child’s godfather, it was like having an oiled paper umbrella in a snowy world; no matter how heavy the snow, it wouldn’t fall on his child’s head. Moreover, Flower Snake possessed many qualities that should be passed to the next generation. He hoped his child could be noble and trustworthy.

In the past, he avoided coming here or contacting him to prevent exposing Flower Snake’s whereabouts. Now he came because he knew too much time had passed, Flower Snake had faded from everyone’s sight, and it was now much safer to visit.

The car was parked at the mouth of a distant alley. After a few steps, some snowflakes fell on him. Flower Snake was peculiar like this; even in such weather, when he was around, snakes wouldn’t hibernate. Who knew why. The car gradually drove away from this old city area, distancing itself from those entangled past grievances.

In ten days, Ava Walker and her mother, along with the mastermind behind them, could be identified, and then bundled up and thrown far away.

He no longer wished to stain his hands with blood; he already had a child to think about. Before this child was born, he didn’t want to be tainted with any more bloodshed, so Ava Walker and Ella Johnson had better show some restraint. Otherwise, they shouldn’t blame him for being merciless and ruthless.

He was a bit concerned about Fifth Master Foster now. Strictly speaking, Fifth Master Foster was more like a brother to him than Amir. Of course, Fifth Master handled matters way more brutally than Amir. If he hadn’t uncovered Ava Walker’s affair, it was perhaps because they knew each other too well, so their suspicions were similar, and that led to no findings. But Flower Snake was different; he searched in another direction, so he firmly believed in getting results in ten days.

Arriving at the Foster Family’s courtyard, the housekeeper came up wringing his hands: ”The Eldest Young Master Hallow is here. Are you hungry? Shall I have the kitchen prepare some snacks for afternoon tea with the young master?” The housekeeper was naturally anxious, considering what little Atlas Hallow had eaten for lunch; he could count the grains of rice. What he feared most was when the old lady called, asking what the young master had eaten and how much. His heart would almost jump out of his chest.

The dozens of people in this courtyard all hoped the young master could eat more, more eagerly than anything else. If the young master ate a lot, it would be like a festival for everyone, not an exaggeration at all. Actually, the young master was not weak; the housekeeper had secretly watched Fifth Young Master practice boxing, and it was extremely fierce, with speed and force that were quite frightening. How could it be as worrisome as the lady thought?

But in every mother’s eyes, her child never grows up, perhaps especially so for the elder lady, given the four children ahead of Fifth Young Master who hadn’t made it to birth, this situation made her somewhat neurotic. Of course, these thoughts could only exist in the housekeeper’s mind, never spoken aloud.

In short, their young master was the most precious man in the world, and had to be carefully attended to.

If the Eldest Young Master Hallow could stay and have afternoon tea with the young master, it would be the best.

”No need.” Atlas Hallow’s voice was as gentle as the falling snow, suddenly chilling the housekeeper.

It seemed today was destined to be not a good day.

As Atlas Hallow walked into Fifth Master Foster’s room, Fifth Master Foster frowned and pointed to a nearby room: ”Go and clean up before you come over. I’ll have the housekeeper prepare fresh clothes for you. Toss out this whole outfit.”

Atlas Hallow sat down carelessly, ”You couldn’t handle it, so I went to find him. Actually, I should have gone to him earlier. This person is surely one we can’t contact, but he can figure it out.” Fifth Master not finding this person wasn’t because he was incapable; it was because this person was hidden in a blind spot they couldn’t think of, so Atlas Hallow also looked forward to what the ten-day outcome would be.

Fifth Master stood up from the Arhat Couch, picked up the Vermilion Painted Rhombic Lid Box on the table, took out a tiny piece of grayish-white wax-like substance, flicked it into the air, and it beautifully landed into the copper fire bowl burning with silver charcoal. Instantly, a peculiar fragrance spread throughout the room.

Ambergris?

The housekeeper, unwilling to give up, brought in some clear tea with a few exquisite snacks. Without a word, he placed them on the table and promptly retreated.

Atlas Hallow took a sip of the tea, ”Your tea isn’t as good as his.” This was the plain truth.

”That’s because I don’t want to serve you good tea at all.” Fifth Master sulked, and Atlas Hallow, not being a fool, could probably guess why he was displeased.

”If you like her, just tell her directly. Are you afraid she won’t agree?” If Fifth Master could fall for a woman, it wouldn’t be surprising. Perhaps something suddenly clicked in his twisted mind.

”Who said I like her?” Fifth Master was almost about to jump off the Arhat Couch, walked up to Atlas Hallow with a face full of indignation, saying, ”I don’t like her at all.”

A smile spread across Atlas Hallow’s lips. How is this not liking? It was like a child looking at candy and saying, ”I don’t want to eat it.”

In matters of love, the famous Fifth Master Foster was really a child.

”What? That tomboy didn’t come today?” Having the rare opportunity to tease him, of course, Atlas Hallow wouldn’t miss it. Smiling, he took another sip of tea and jabbed again, ”Though it’s not good tea, it’s drinkable.”

Fifth Master scowled and called the housekeeper, who practically flew upstairs at the call, appearing instantly.

At this age, to still be this quick, he had to be admired.

”Fifth Master, what are your orders?” Upon bursting into Fifth Master’s room, the housekeeper adjusted his steps carefully, bending his waist in respectful speech.

”Take all these things down, all of them...” The cold voice rang through the strangely fragrant air, and the housekeeper hurriedly cleaned the table of those snacks and of course, Atlas Hallow’s cup of tea too.

”If it doesn’t taste good, then don’t drink it.” He was already quite irritated, and seeing Atlas Hallow’s smiling face made him even more irritated, wanting to punch it awry.

Fifth Master paced the room twice, then went up to Atlas Hallow, puzzled, ”She said she’d come in the morning, and said she had already left. Why didn’t she come?”

Daring to stand up Fifth Master Foster, what a gutsy act! He wouldn’t even dare do such a thing. Fifth Master had a notoriously bad temper, pampered by the entire Foster Family to heights untouchable. The housekeeper’s demeanor clearly showed, Fifth Master had a natural aura making people wary of him, but that tomboy wasn’t afraid?

”She was probably delayed.” Atlas Hallow seriously suggested, which was a normal deduction, yet Fifth Master Foster jumped up hearing it, ”Delayed by what?”

”How would I know?” Atlas Hallow shrugged. What happened to that tomboy had nothing to do with him.
