Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

At the same time, the helicopter spun completely out of control, hurtling toward the building across the street and crashing down with a deafening ROAR.

The massive explosion and the piercing screech of malfunctioning machinery suddenly echoed throughout Zone 3, drawing all the zombies in the area to swarm excitedly toward the commotion.

The zombies surged madly toward the fresh blood splattered from the helicopter, beginning a frenzied feast.

Xie Ning took a deep breath, her expression exceptionally calm as she looked down at the dense horde of zombies piling up at the base of the building.

She kicked open a glass window on the side of the floor and vaulted inside the sixteenth story. Raising a hand, she flung out a handful of Golden Needles, slaying a zombie couple that had charged at the sound.

Glancing down at the thousands of zombies continuously gathering, churning, and even starting to climb up, Xie Ning’s lips curved into a cold, thin smile.

Xie Ning opened the door and rushed out, killing seven or eight zombies on her way up to the rooftop.

Looking down through the open spiral of the staircase, she saw the horde had already broken into the building and was screeching excitedly as it sped upstairs in pursuit.

A chaotic cacophony of zombie roars and messy footsteps echoed from the stairwell, growing ever closer.

Unfazed, Xie Ning sprinted all the way to the rooftop terrace, took out a bottle of Energy Water, and chugged it down.

With a flip of her hand, she retrieved a bundle of bombs from her underground garage space, picked out half of them, and carried them to the edge of the rooftop.

Xie Ning glanced down at the dense mass of zombies ceaselessly climbing upward, and without hesitation, she dropped half the bombs.

At the same moment, the small iron door to the rooftop was smashed open by the surging zombie horde. Hundreds of zombies came roaring and screeching toward her.

A sky-shattering explosion erupted, instantly engulfing the thousands of zombies below in a sea of fire.

The moment the zombies broke through the small iron door, Xie Ning had already spread her Metal Wings and shot into the sky.

But the power of half a ton of explosives was truly terrifying. A fraction of the shockwave that erupted from the ground actually reached Xie Ning as she soared into the sky.

Her whole body wobbled, and for a moment, she lost control and pitched to the side.

The terrifying explosion sent a massive shockwave surging toward her.

The building floors fractured and collapsed from the blast. The zombies that had reached the rooftop were thrown about by the shaking, and some near the edge were flung straight off.

Xie Ning blinked, struggling to mobilize her Gold Ability to fly higher. ’That was reckless,’ she thought.

’No idea what kind of advanced weapon Xiao Gu gave me. Did he modify it himself? The firepower is pretty intense.’

Beating her Metal Wings, Xie Ning ascended while turning toward a nearby building.

’Let those zombies enjoy a little stroll through the sea of fire.’

As she struggled to fly, her figure suddenly froze in midair, a rare look of astonishment on her face.

’How could this be?’

Her Metal Wings suddenly retracted, and with a bewildered glance at her own body, Xie Ning abruptly vanished from sight.

At the same time, dozens of kilometers away, Gu Chen suddenly felt the ground tremble violently.

The source of the sound was still from the ten o’clock direction.

Two massive tremors, no more than half an hour apart. He didn’t know what had happened, but a sliver of unease crept into Gu Chen’s heart.

The military helicopter had already reached him. Without a word, Gu Chen climbed the rope ladder.

Lu Wei patted Zhai Ruobai on the shoulder. ”It’s starting to snow a little. You take them back to base first.”

With that, he followed Gu Chen onto the helicopter, leaving the bitter, baby-faced man to feel utterly lost in the wind.

’You can’t just do this to me!’

’First, they make me their miserable driver, and now they’re just casting me aside because I’m in the way.’

The baby-faced man smoothed his slightly messy bangs, feeling disgruntled.

...

Meanwhile, Xie Ning was utterly astonished, standing in a field of yellow and green, hardly daring to believe the sight before her.

’My Space has a farm?’

’So that Fourth-Rank bigshot from the Space System I just killed was the Space Ability User named Zhu Zihao from Huang Shi Yao’s team?’

’I can’t believe he hid his abilities so well.’

The intel Shijun gathered said he was a First-Rank Space Ability User.

But in reality, he was Fourth-Rank, just like her, and so low-key about it.

’And this Space has more than just ”some” farm?’

’It’s way bigger than the eighty square meters he claimed it was.’

Inside the massive 500-square-meter Space, a plot of farmland spanning over 300 square meters lay to the left. Next to it was a simple thatched hut, which must have been where Zhu Zihao usually ate and slept.

Many types of vegetables were planted on the plot, which looked lush and green at a glance.

Bok choy, pea shoots, potatoes, cabbage—Zhu Zihao had actually planted a variety of common vegetables, and they all appeared to be growing quite well.

Not only that, but two or three rows of fruit trees were also planted next to the vegetable patch. There were many varieties, all crowded together.

Zhu Zihao had actually managed to grow both fruits and vegetables in this Space, and some of the trees were already heavy with fruit.

With a slight pulse of her superpower energy, Xie Ning plucked a plum from a distance. She drew a stream of water from her personal supply to give it a quick rinse, then took a bite. Her eyes instantly lit up.

’Sweet and juicy. That short, fat man Zhu Zihao really knew how to live!’

This Space didn’t just have a farm—there was even a well next to it!

Not a single true word ever came out of that guy Zhu Zihao’s mouth. He clearly had well water inside his Space, yet he was always crying poverty to the team, claiming he had no water to irrigate his fields and that his vegetables would die.

Xie Ning walked to the well and looked down at the shimmering water. With a nudge of her Space Ability, a stream of water shot out and landed in her favorite little bear-themed cup.

Afraid the well water might be too cold, Xie Ning took only a small sip, but it tasted as sweet as spring water.

It wasn’t bone-chillingly cold; on the contrary, it was unusually warm and smooth. After she swallowed, her spirits were slightly lifted.

Since it wasn’t cold, Xie Ning took a few more gulps and instantly felt her exhaustion vanish.

Although this well water couldn’t replenish a Superpower User’s depleted superpower energy, it could wash away fatigue and restore stamina.

’Zhu Zihao was a truly capable person,’ Xie Ning thought. She felt he was even more amazing than she was.

After all, since the apocalypse began, she had never been able to enter her own Space.

But Zhu Zihao’s Space was one that people could enter!

That kid Song Shijun was right. Zhu Zihao’s Space was like a small farm stay—a true treasure in the apocalypse!

No wonder even Cres’s Spirit Lock had nearly failed to hold him before.

He could escape into this farm-stay Space at any time!

Thankfully, her Metallic Scimitar had struck him, preventing him from slipping into his Space. Otherwise, where would they even have gone to find him?

If he had escaped, he would have become an endless source of trouble.

’That was close.’ A trace of fear lingered in Xie Ning’s heart.

Xie Ning walked past the large fields, continuing excitedly toward the right side of the Space.

Just as she was about to pass the hut, she suddenly heard a familiar yet strange voice from within: ”Who’s there?”

Xie Ning froze, her footsteps halting in front of the thatched hut.

She truly hadn’t expected to find someone else in Zhu Zihao’s Space.

Xie Ning cautiously approached. With one hand, she pushed aside the rickety thatched door, revealing the scene inside.
