Medical and Martial God

Speaking of her master, Qing Luan was at a loss for words. ”As for his position as the leader of the Official Family Martial Artists, the Official Family didn’t appoint him. He went to the leaders and demanded it himself.”

Ye Xiu was dumbfounded. ”He asked for an official position?” he asked. ”And they just gave it to him?”

Qing Luan smiled bitterly. ”They couldn’t refuse. My master showed off a shocking level of martial power in front of the officials and arrogantly boasted that he was Invincible, claiming that even Huang Quan couldn’t withstand a single blow from him.

”On top of that, the pressure from the three Judicator Families, the Eternal Kingdom, the Restorer Alliance, and the various global Totem and Special Abilities organizations was immense.

”Considering the bigger picture, and since Yan Long is our master—the master of the Eight Great National Protector War Gods—the officials agreed to let him establish the Official Family Martial Artists department.”

Ye Xiu understood the Official Family’s concerns. It wasn’t just the ruling classes of various nations; even he felt powerless against the three Judicator Families, the Eternal Kingdom, and the Restorer Alliance. There were simply too many of them. Although Yan Long was brash, having him organize the Official Family Martial Artists at least brought some sense of security.

”What kind of person is your master?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Actually, Master Yan Long isn’t a bad person, just somewhat stubborn and self-righteous. He’s desperate to quickly gain control over the Official Family Martial Artists and establish his prestige and influence, but he lacks experience in this area, so his only method is to establish his dominance and impose harsh rules.”

At this, Qing Luan’s expression turned serious. ”At the end of the day, he took the eight of us as his disciples and had us serve the country, so he does have a patriotic heart.”

Ye Xiu was skeptical of Qing Luan’s assessment. Right in front of her, he took out his phone, dialed Meng Yinwan’s number, and asked directly, ”Do you know Yan Long?”

”Is Yan Long still alive?” Meng Yinwan replied. ”I heard he was killed by experts from the three Judicator Families during the last Mist Chant Martial Meeting.”

”So you do know him. Tell me what you know,” Ye Xiu said.

”I don’t know much about Yan Long,” Meng Yinwan said. ”Just that he has a mortal feud with the three Judicator Families. He isn’t part of the Restorer Alliance. In fact, there are many Hidden World experts like him who fight the three Judicator Families single-handedly.”

Ye Xiu hung up and asked Qing Luan, ”Did you hear that?”

Without waiting for her reply, he answered his own question. ”Yan Long took the eight of you as disciples and placed you in the Ministry of Military Affairs, making you the Eight Great National Protector War Gods. Perhaps he did it all to gain control over the Official Family’s Martial Artists. That way, he could use the full power of Xuanse to get his revenge on the three Judicator Families.”

Upon hearing this, Qing Luan laughed. ”My master doesn’t have the brains for that, does he?”

”That depends on whether he has someone backing him.” Ye Xiu couldn’t make a definitive judgment just yet. ”Go back and tell Yan Long not to abuse the power in his hands or disturb the lives of ordinary people. Otherwise, I’ll crush him.”

”Okay!” Qing Luan nodded, understanding that Ye Xiu was worried Yan Long would lead all the Official Family Martial Artists down the wrong path.

”By the way, why didn’t you tell him my identity?” Ye Xiu asked.

”He kept clamoring for a match with Huang Quan to boost his influence. We didn’t dare tell him your identity. Besides, back then we all believed his bragging and thought you really couldn’t beat him,” Qing Luan said with a wry smile.

”Keep my identity a secret,” Ye Xiu said.

Qing Luan nodded and said hesitantly, ”Um... my master sent me to ask you to treat his illness. About that...”

”Tell him we’ll see when I have time,” Ye Xiu said dismissively.

”Okay!” Qing Luan said. She understood now: Ye Xiu wanted to investigate her master’s background before deciding whether to treat him. ”If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first.”

Ye Xiu nodded.

Just as he was about to get into his car, he suddenly sensed something and flipped his hand over to reveal the Stone Mirror.

He saw a message from Leng Yue. ”Young Master, Ming Yue reports that Kristina insists on leading her army of nearly 3,000,000 to swim to Biluo Island. What are your instructions?”

Ye Xiu took out a cigarette, lit it, and replied after a moment of thought:

”Cloud Mist Island is an island for Fourth Rank individuals—people who have a talent for Cultivation but haven’t inherited a Totem or Special Abilities.

”Kristina’s decision to relocate all nearly 3,000,000 people from the island to Biluo Island is extremely foolish.

”Among these nearly three million people are many infants and children with a talent for Cultivation, as well as a large number of trash-tier First and Second Grade Martial Artists. At most, only twenty percent of them have strength at or above a First Realm War God, which is about 600,000.

”Among these 600,000 Martial Artists, the strongest are Pseudo Fourth Realm, and their numbers are estimated to be around 100,000.

”These people have already traveled a long way, nonstop from Cloud Mist Island to Seven-Star Island, which has greatly depleted their stamina and Martial Prowess.

”Now, they’ll exhaust even more stamina and Martial Prowess swimming in the sea. By the time they reach Biluo Island, very few of them will still be able to fight.

”You will lead the army of hundreds of thousands of Mutated Beasts to launch a surprise attack on their landing site. Hit them once and run, then hide deep in the mountains near the Abandoned City.

”After your initial victory, Kristina will regroup her forces and begin a slow search of the mountains. That’s when you can engage them in guerrilla warfare...”

At that moment, Ye Xiu was like a Chief Military Marshal, remotely commanding his army. This feeling is pretty exhilarating!

Leng Yue replied, ”Understood!”

「...」

Yan Long paced back and forth anxiously at the entrance of Zhaolu Farm. Seeing Qing Luan approaching from the distance, he hurried over to meet her. ”What were Ye Xiu’s conditions? What do I have to do for him to agree to treat me?”

Qing Luan answered honestly, ”He said he’ll see when he has time.”

”The nerve!” Yan Long erupted in fury. ”He’s just a doctor, and I already sent you, a mighty National Protector War God, to beg him. He still refuses to give me face? Damn it! Go tell him that if he doesn’t come treat me, I’ll strip him of his position as an instructor for the Red Flame Army!”

”He isn’t on the official roster,” Qing Luan said. ”His title as an instructor for the Red Flame Army is just an honorary one everyone uses. He’s never acknowledged it himself.”

Yan Long was choked speechless. He had intended to use his position to pressure Ye Xiu, only to find out the man wasn’t even his subordinate.

Angrily, he demanded, ”Tell me where Ye Xiu lives. I’ll go find him myself. If he refuses to treat me, I’ll beat him until he agrees.”

You’d better not go get yourself beaten up... Qing Luan thought to herself, but said aloud, ”When I went to find Ye Xiu, I ran into Huang Quan on the way. He asked me to give you a message.”

At the mention of Huang Quan, Yan Long felt his left cheek throb and swell again. ”What message?”

”He warns you not to abuse the power in your hands or disturb the lives of ordinary people. Otherwise, he’ll crush you,” Qing Luan said, struggling to hold back a laugh.

HISSS!

Yan Long sucked in a sharp breath of anger, but he was powerless. Faced with a ruthless man like Huang Quan, he didn’t even dare entertain the thought of resisting. He asked, ”Is Ye Xiu a Martial Artist?”

”Yes!” Qing Luan nodded.

”Haha! Since he’s a Martial Artist, beating him up won’t count as disobeying Huang Quan’s command,” Yan Long roared with laughter, praising his own cleverness. ”Quick, take me to Ye Xiu’s house.”

Qing Luan wanted to slap herself. She shouldn’t have admitted that Ye Xiu was a Martial Artist. Great. Now my master is going to get beaten up again.
