Medical and Martial God

The people of Medicine King Valley watched the approaching helicopter, all of them incredibly nervous. It wasn’t that they were timid, but Huang Quan was in Guoyang, which was simply too close to Medicine King Valley. Who knew if that murderous scoundrel would get drunk one day and decide to go on a killing spree in their valley.

There were some things the people of Medicine King Valley were too embarrassed to say out loud. Ever since they learned that the Long Family was on Huang Quan’s hit list, they had started living their days with their hearts in their throats.

Hearing Dongfang Chaonan’s voice, the leader of Medicine King Valley’s neutral faction spoke up. ”It’s not Huang Quan, it’s Dongfang Big Square.”

Because Dongfang Chaonan’s head was square, everyone in Medicine King Valley secretly called him Dongfang Big Square.

”A false alarm!”

”That scared me to death! I thought Huang Quan had come for a visit!”

”I feel like my heart is about to jump out of my throat. I need to go home and drink some water to calm down.”

Everyone in Medicine King Valley breathed a sigh of relief, and some found their backs soaked with cold sweat.

The helicopter flew directly over Medicine King Valley, and Ye Xiu’s group jumped out. The aircraft then turned and flew to a nearby mountaintop to wait for him.

”Well now, Big Square,” Valley Master Baishan Jun chided with a laugh, ”what’s with the flashy entrance? Coming in a helicopter... you scared me to death! I thought it was that killer Huang Quan.”

In all of Medicine King Valley, not many people dared to call Dongfang Chaonan ”Big Square” to his face.

”What can I say? The Dongfang Family has the resources. I even take a helicopter to the toilet these days,” Dongfang Chaonan boasted brazenly, puffing out his chest without batting an eye. Joking aside, there was still a generational gap between him and the Valley Master.

He turned to An Dongye and the others. ”Show some respect, all of you. Hurry up and greet your Grand Master-Uncle.”

An Dongye, Dongfang Dazhuang, Dongfang Erlang, and Dongfang Meili quickly greeted Baishan Jun and the other elders of Medicine King Valley with the deference of juniors. Valley Master Baishan Jun and the others all responded politely.

Then, they noticed that Ye Xiu had no intention of greeting anyone. Instantly, everyone from Medicine King Valley felt a surge of displeasure, silently cursing Ye Xiu for his lack of manners.

”Big Square, who is this?” Baishan Jun asked.

”This is my brother, Ye Xiu,” Dongfang Chaonan said proudly. He didn’t ask Ye Xiu to greet the Valley Master and the others as a junior. Although Ye Xiu was young, his strength was immense, and his influence was far beyond anything Medicine King Valley could compare to.

”Ye Xiu?”

The name made everyone from Medicine King Valley turn solemn.

”Are you the Medicine King of Xuanse, Ye Xiu?” Baishan Jun asked.

Ye Xiu’s gaze swept across the crowd, seeing no hostility in their eyes. This must mean the conservative and neutral factions of Medicine King Valley either don’t know about my feud with Jiang Yuan, or they know but don’t side with him.

With this in mind, Ye Xiu finally offered a greeting. ”I am Ye Xiu. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Senior Bai.”

Confirming that the man before them was indeed the Medicine King of Xuanse, Baishan Jun and the people of Medicine King Valley all stared at Ye Xiu in shock, sizing him up.

”The famous Medicine King of Xuanse is so young and handsome. The younger generation is truly formidable,” Baishan Jun praised with the air of a senior. He was doing this intentionally. In his view, although Ye Xiu’s Medical Skills were exceptional, they were nothing compared to those of Medicine King Valley. After all, Medicine King Valley’s medical knowledge had been passed down for over two thousand years; its sheer foundation was something Ye Xiu could never hope to match.

”Ye Xiu, I’ve heard you represent the peak of outside medical science and are the most skilled physician in the world. Do you dare to compete with me?” a young man of about twenty stepped out from the crowd, his chin held high in arrogance. His very posture was a display of contempt for Ye Xiu, radiating boundless conceit.

”Changqing, do not be so insolent! Mr. Ye is a guest from afar. How can you be so rude?” Baishan Jun rebuked before turning to Ye Xiu with an apologetic expression. ”He is my great-grandson, Bai Changqing. His talents in both Medical Skills and Martial Arts are quite good, making him one of the best in Medicine King Valley. My constant spoiling has led to his disrespectful attitude, and I’m afraid I can’t do anything about him. Perhaps Mr. Ye could teach him a lesson on my behalf and show him that there’s always someone better out there?”

He wanted to use Bai Changqing to gauge Ye Xiu’s true abilities.

The rest of the Medicine King Valley members stared intently at Ye Xiu. They had no interest in worldly fame, but the prospect of defeating the Medicine King of Xuanse greatly intrigued them.

An Dongye, Dongfang Chaonan, Dongfang Dazhuang, Dongfang Erlang, and Dongfang Meili all looked displeased. Ye Xiu had come with them to visit Medicine King Valley, only to be deliberately challenged.

”Go on, little brother,” An Dongye urged. ”Show him what you’ve got and let the people of Medicine King Valley see your Medical Skills.” She wanted Ye Xiu to put them in their place.

”Let’s not. I came to visit Medicine King Valley today. We shouldn’t let a competition ruin the peaceful atmosphere,” Ye Xiu politely declined. He was confident he could defeat Bai Changqing, and even everyone else in Medicine King Valley. But if he did that, the valley would surely lose face.

”Hmph! I don’t think you’re afraid of ruining the atmosphere. I think you’re afraid of losing to me!” Bai Changqing scoffed.

The others in Medicine King Valley were also disappointed. They hadn’t expected the great Medicine King of Xuanse to be so timid that he lacked even the courage to accept a challenge.

”Changqing, you must not be disrespectful to Mr. Ye,” Baishan Jun chided again before turning to Ye Xiu. ”Mr. Ye, please, just do this old man a favor and humor Changqing a little.”

Heh. He calls Bai Changqing rude, but it’s not rude for him to force my hand like this? Ye Xiu saw right through it. Baishan Jun was dead set on probing the depths of this so-called Medicine King of Xuanse.

An Dongye couldn’t stand it any longer. ”Grand Master-Uncle, my little brother came to visit you. Isn’t it going too far for you and Bai Changqing to push him like this?”

”Cuihua, don’t misunderstand,” Baishan Jun explained, though his words showed no intention of letting Ye Xiu off the hook. ”This is just a friendly match between two juniors, Mr. Ye and Bai Changqing. I mean no offense to Mr. Ye.”

”Ye Xiu, if you’re too scared to accept my challenge, that’s fine. But I expect that when you leave Medicine King Valley, you will publicly declare that you are unworthy of the title ’Medicine King of Xuanse.’ Because in Xuanse, you are no Medicine King. Everyone here possesses Medical Skills superior to yours,” Bai Changqing sneered, looking down on Ye Xiu with disdain.

An Dongye was enraged and about to retort on Ye Xiu’s behalf, but he stopped her.

”Sigh,” Ye Xiu sighed. ”I came here with respect. Since you people of Medicine King Valley insist on being so rude, don’t blame me for crashing the party. Very well, Bai Changqing, I accept your challenge.”

At this, he turned his gaze to Baishan Jun. ”And I hope that Senior Bai will accept my challenge as well.”

Today, I am determined to rub Medicine King Valley’s face in the dirt!

”You challenge me?” Baishan Jun let out a laugh. ”Alright, I accept your challenge. But you’ll have to defeat Bai Changqing first.”

”Fine,” Ye Xiu nodded, then asked Bai Changqing, ”What’s the competition?”

This question stumped everyone in Medicine King Valley. Since it was a competition of Medical Skills, they needed a patient. But everyone in Medicine King Valley was healthier than the next. How could they possibly compete?
