Slime Evolution

Chapter 180: 180 - Benefits

”So, how much money did you guys save up in Novato Village? How much did you bring to the Open World?” Lisa asked as she walked alongside the group toward an equipment shop.

Alice promptly replied, reluctantly tearing her gaze away from the beautiful Thalendor landscape around them and looking at the little fox walking beside her. ”Well, considering our expenses on equipment, food, and other things, at the end of the day we had 40 to 80 copper coins left over, depending on how much our equipment got damaged.”

Both Lisa and Halon were surprised to hear that.

Compared to the 25 silver coins each of them earned on average per day, that was 3 to 6 times more than what this group earned!

For someone from the Lower Zone, earning an average of $60 credits a day would amount to a fortune of $1,800 a month, enough money for a family of three to live ”comfortably” under the conditions the Lower Zone could provide.

But for people from the Upper Zone, that amount was far too low.

Just the rent for houses and apartments in the Upper Zone would already be much more than that amount, not to mention all the other factors that would increase the cost of living there.

So obviously Alice was paying this group a large sum of money as a salary outside the guild.

Thinking about it, Lohan felt that anyone from the Lower Zone in his place might envy that, but he, who knew the potential he could reach, knew that the potential earnings he would have from Astralis Requiem in the future would be much greater than the $6,000 to $8,000 credits these soldiers were receiving now.

Considering the amount of Gold a guild typically handled in the games, earning tens of thousands of gold per day was entirely possible, which would convert to tens or hundreds of millions of credits at Elysium’s basic 1:1 exchange rate.

Looking at the group’s equipment, Lohan realized that the quality of that armor was far inferior to the quality of the gear worn by the Level 8 humans they had killed to save the two Elf children.

”We have good news for you, then,” Lisa said in the cold tone she used when speaking to strangers. ”Halon secured a supply contract for a alchemy shop here in Thalendor. the average pay for monster hunting services below Level 11 is 30 to 40 silver coins for a day’s hunt, at least at our pace; split that among you, and it would average out to 500 copper coins each. If we increase the difficulty by hunting more powerful monsters, the earnings would be even higher.”

Hearing that, the soldiers’ eyes lit up!

Even if they had to pay a portion of their earnings to the Guild, the rest of the money they received was theirs as a bonus on top of their salary.

So if they could earn 5 silver coins a day each, as Lisa said, that would be a bonus of $15,000 credits a month!

Just thinking about it, even Justin, the suspicious archer in the group, was tempted.

They were prepared for Lisa to say they might receive at most 1 silver coin, but 5 silver coins a day?! That would be even more than their salary!

”Bosses, just tell us what to do and my blade will be at your disposal!” Dee, the knight of the group, was the first to speak up. Thinking of the wife he had at home to take care of and how much this money would help the family’s finances, the man got very excited!

He worked as a mid-level office employee at an advertising firm on a small planet.

His salary was just enough for him to get by with the basics in the Upper Zone, but with this bonus, he could finally buy some tickets to visit beautiful planets, or maybe even buy his own car!

Just like Dee, Wyrm, Tunder, and Samantha also looked at the two little monsters with a gleam in their eyes, as if they had just struck gold!

Lohan then spoke. ”It’s great that you’re excited. The list I got is long, but with your skills, maybe we can finish it in no time. If we show what we’re capable of, I can use that to get lists from other shops, and thus expand our business in Thalendor before any other Guild.”

Hearing that, the sparkle in the group’s eyes grew even brighter.

The pay as soldiers in a group like Vance had already been incredible for them, but it might still have been insufficient to make them dedicate themselves so fully to something that wasn’t theirs. But knowing now that they could earn so much thanks to the Guild shifted their perspective from working to help the Guild to working to earn money for themselves, with helping the Guild as a side effect!

Sure, it wasn’t the perfect mindset, but Lohan knew that for a new group, the best thing to do was to paint a big picture they could start enjoying right away.

Even Alice got excited about this idea, even though she didn’t need money like they did, given her family background, and the more she listened to Halon speak, the more excited she became about the Guild’s future.

So with that settled, the group headed to an equipment shop, ready to spend the coins Halon and Lisa had accumulated, and set out to power farm Experience for the two leaders, who would finally reach Level 11.

Lisa also agreed with what Lohan was doing, pleasantly surprised by how easily Halon was handling that group.

Although she didn’t harbor any ill will toward his background, it was still uncertain how he would act when dealing with the Guild members, especially those from the Upper Zone.

Seeing that he handled them with even greater ease than she did was a very pleasant surprise.

Lisa hated having to deal with other people, often preferring to stay out of the spotlight while letting Alice handle it, but seeing how Halon was doing so far, a bold idea began to form in her mind.
