Slime Evolution

Chapter 156: 156 - Putting It into Practice

[Vacuum Detonation Lv 1] — 200 Biomass

[Allows for the extreme compression of Mana at the extremities of the body to manipulate atmospheric pressure through high-frequency physical movements. By striking the air or the ground with explosive force, the user is able to collapse ambient pressure, creating a sudden vacuum that pulls everything around it, resulting in a kinetic detonation.]

Reading the description of this evolution, Lohan was amazed.

’Yeah! That was exactly what I wanted!’ He thought excitedly.

Considering that his current combat style was to be as ’omnipotent’ as possible, acquiring a group control skill like this would be incredible.

He could already think of various applications for it, the main one being using this attraction to pull enemies toward his high-viscosity clones, or even toward his magical webs, making it even harder for the enemy to avoid them.

Once the enemy got stuck in the magical web, Lohan could begin draining the enemy, and little by little the battle would turn in his favor.

”Feeling your excitement, I suppose we now have that Vacuum Explosion in our combat repertoire?” Lisa asked with a laugh, finally relaxing upon realizing that Halon hadn’t lost his mind.

She had been really tense; during the 20 minutes he was unconscious, she had focused 90% of her attention on him and 10% on her surroundings, to ensure no other rabbit could come and disrupt his process.

Fortunately, neither happened, but her mental exhaustion was very high after that.

”Yeah, definitely! I think with this extra card up our sleeve, our battles from here on out will be much easier!” Lohan said excitedly, quickly forming four obsidian paws beneath him, running off to test this new skill.

Lohan propelled himself with his four obsidian paws, feeling the Mana compress violently at the extremities of his biomass as he coordinated the movement of his paws exactly the way he had learned by observing the rabbit’s memories.

The sensation was like that of an internal vacuum seeking immediate fulfillment; as he struck the air at high frequency, he heard a crack and felt the atmospheric pressure collapse, generating a sudden suction that pulled dry leaves and debris of stone and earth from the clearing toward the center of the impact, and then stopped.

Lohan was surprised; the power was much less than he had imagined, even considering that this was a Level 1 Evolution, and thinking about the cost of leveling it up, he felt a little uncertain.

Lisa watched in silence, feeling a slight tug on her own white fur as the air around her was sucked toward the spot where Lohan had attacked, but she also realized that the power of this was nowhere near as strong as when the Level 11 Rabbit used it.

Thinking about the strength of the monsters they were currently facing, she commented. ”Did you use the full power of that skill? Because I think at this level, using it will be much more situational than using it as a main attack like that rabbit did...”

Lohan was thinking the same thing. ”For now, yes, I might be able to make it more powerful in the future, but for the time being, we’ll have to use it as a support skill.”

Lisa nodded in agreement, her white tail swaying slightly as she processed the utility of the new tool. ”Considering the idea was always to use this as a support skill, I don’t think we should worry.”

They resumed their march toward a section of the Mythlorien Forest where the scorched ground was more frequent, signaling a territory densely populated by other Explosive Rabbits.

Thanks to his keen perception and echolocation, it didn’t take long for Lohan to pick up the frantic rhythm of four approaching heat signatures.

”There, Lisa! I think there are three Level 10s and a Level 9 scout; let’s test the new setup.” Lohan warned via the mental link.

This time, Lohan didn’t wait for the rabbits’ initial impact.

He used his Partial Division to expel two clones that camouflaged themselves among the roots, spreading out laterally with extreme viscosity.

Meanwhile, the main body above Lisa began to pulsate a deep blue before darkening completely, with obsidian plates covering the fox’s neck and flanks as a precaution for when an attack arrived.

The Level 9 rabbit was the first to warn them and initiated the explosive leap, but mid-air, a clone of Lohan struck with an explosion.

The sonic crack was accompanied by a sudden suction, which, though it lacked the force to crush or completely suck in the creature, created a vacuum strong enough to deflect the monster’s trajectory by a few centimeters, a deviation large enough for it to crash head-on into the trunk of an oak tree instead of hitting Lisa.

Seeing the rabbit disoriented and confused, Lohan didn’t hesitate.

In the millisecond the scout rabbit hit the trunk, dazed, translucent biological threads shot from Lohan’s membrane, pinning the monster’s paws to the tree bark and initiating the immediate drain of Mana, leaving that little monster weaker by the second, and nourishing Lohan once more.

Seeing their companion trapped, the two Level 10 rabbits attempted a pincer attack against that strange black fox, moving at speeds that would blur the vision of any ordinary player.

Lohan, maintaining his composure through his parallel processing, waited for the point of convergence. Just as both were about to strike Lisa from the side, he had an idea and formed a second tail on the fox’s back, then activated Vacuum Detonation directly beneath Lisa’s paws.

The sudden suction pulled the two monsters toward the center, causing them to lose control of their trajectory and collide with each other mid-air!

The clash of their metallic masses produced a shrill sound of impact.

Taking advantage of the imbalance, Lisa spun in an arc of greenish-white spiritual fire, capitalizing on the fact that they were very close to each other, and incinerated their defenses before they even hit the ground.

[Experience: +480]

Lohan began collecting the biomass while vibrating with satisfaction.

”Great, even if we don’t have the raw power that Level 11 rabbit demonstrated, we just need to break their rhythm for a second and the battle is in our hands!”

Compared to the first battle they fought against these rabbits, the difference in their attitude was as clear as day.

Lisa sat back, satisfied and unharmed this time, watching Lohan digest the metal scraps.
