Slime Evolution

Chapter 47: 47 - Evolutions

”Are we already in the Open World?” Lisa asked in shock. ”But why are only the two of us here?”

Thinking about it, the only things the two had in common were that they were non-human and had Legendary Races or higher.

But with only the two of them, it was impossible to determine the real reason for this.

”Anyway, although this is good news for us, since we won’t have to worry about relocating our Guild after going to the Open World, we should be even more careful, because here we may encounter monsters of level 11 or higher,” Lisa explained.

Lohan nodded. After all, Aeliana had already given him a Mana Stone from a Level 11 Weaver Spider, and if she had a Mana Stone like that, it meant that a monster of that level existed.

”Although this information is important, the most important thing now is to get stronger,” Lohan commented.

Lisa agreed and approached him, looking away, still a little embarrassed, but already treating Lohan climbing on her back more naturally than the day before.

Lohan was not shy either and climbed on the fox’s back.

Today’s hunt would no longer be against Kobolds, since despite killing a few, Lohan had not achieved any new Evolutions.

Sure, he received some free evolutions of the skills he already had, but nothing new.

[Viscous Flow Lv 14 → Lv 16] 0.81 m/s → 0.98 m/s.

[Efficient Digestion Lv 14 → Lv 15]

[Hemolymphatic Tissue Lv 5 → Lv 7]

[Structural Stability Lv 9 → Lv 10]

They only farmed for two hours yesterday, which would have yielded Lohan 57 Biomass if he had just been passively forming, but with these extra upgrades, adding up the costs he would pay to evolve, the efficiency of this practically doubled.

The increase in viscous flow increased his movement speed from 0.81 to 0.98 meters per second, which still didn’t even reach the running speed of a 2-year-old child.

Sure, this explosive speed was better than the 0.61 m/s he had when he started hunting with Lisa, almost doubling his previous speed, but it was still insufficient for efficient solo hunting.

The improvement in [Efficient Digestion] to Level 15 was a huge increase, and combined with the improvement from rising to Level 02, the total biomass digested per hour rose from 28.54 to 39.67, an improvement of 11.13 Bio/h! Something even Lohan didn’t expect to be so big.

That was the advantage of exponential growth. When his biomass gain per hour rose from 0.1 to 0.11, it didn’t seem like much, but adding the 10% growth in base Mana, plus 210% from [Mass Expansion Lv 7], plus 50% from [Passive Digestion Lv 5] and 30% from [Partial Division Lv 3]... the 10% increase in his base value was not just a 10% increase, but much more.

[Hemolymphatic Tissue Lv 7] is also a skill that could not be ignored, increasing his digestion speed by 20% per level. During combat, Lohan’s digestion now reached a terrifying 95.2 Bio/h... in a few minutes of combat, Lohan was able to make entire limbs of the Kobolds disappear in his digestion.

He even thought about causing himself damage to try to activate this skill constantly, effectively more than doubling his biomass consumption, but it didn’t work.

Apparently, just as a person cannot hold their breath until death because the body’s survival instinct kicks in, the lack of danger in mutilating himself to activate this skill also prevented it from working.

But as long as he remained in battle for a long time, Lohan could take advantage of the bonus from this Evolution.

Sure, being constantly in battle meant that his Biomass consumption was also high, to compensate for the damage he suffered when hit, but the profit was still greater than the consumption!

Finally, there was [Structural Stability Lv 10]. Upon reaching this level, Lohan decided to spend Biomass to evolve this skill once again to gain a Trait in it as well.

So while Lisa rode through the forest, Lohan did not hesitate and evolved this skill.

[After 10 minor evolutions, Structural Stability is undergoing a qualitative evolution...]

[New trait obtained, Morphological Memory!]

[Structural Stability Lv 10 → Lv 11]

[Improves control over one’s own body.]

[Trait - Morphological Memory: After understanding a new physical deformity, it is possible to learn and memorize that shape, reducing the cost and energy required to maintain that shape.]

Upon reading that, Lohan’s eyes lit up!

He quickly tried to form the small child’s hand, and surprisingly, not only was it easier to form this human hand that he used constantly, but keeping the hand in that state was much easier than before!

Excited, Lohan tried to make a face for himself, but his jelly couldn’t hold it and quickly returned to its natural form.

’It’s still very difficult to make details... at my current level, I can probably only make two hands, and with how fragile they are, that’s practically useless in combat.

On the other hand, with two hands, Lohan’s communication with Aeliana could work even better, as it would be easier to wave and interpret with two hands to represent different things.

Satisfied, he didn’t even notice that he had already arrived at the new location and Lisa was crouching down waiting for him to come down.

”The hospitality of my back has a limit, Halon.” She said, her voice devoid of emotion, but cutting like ice.

Lohan awoke from his thoughts and quickly climbed down. ”I’m sorry, I was distracted.”

She just rolled her eyes and didn’t answer, running in a certain direction.

Lohan knew she was going to lure the monsters to him, but he had no idea what monsters he would face.

As he evolved, Lisa was saying something he didn’t pay attention to, and from her reaction, she was upset at being ignored.

As he finished adjusting his evolution notifications, Lisa had commented on the topography of the terrain and the attack patterns of the creatures he would face.

Lohan, immersed in his own numbers, didn’t respond right away.

Lohan didn’t care much. He had already apologized before, there was no point in humiliating himself further for something so small.

Before long, a white head appeared among the trees, running at high speed, and behind it, three bloodthirsty black creatures were chasing.

Reaching the ideal distance, Lisa made her body translucent as she ran through the tall grass, leaving the three creatures confused.

The leader of the group, a gray wolf twice Lisa’s size, stopped abruptly, confused.

The fox’s trail had disappeared, replaced by an appetizing smell coming from the tall grass.

Looking there, a greenish ball was almost camouflaged among the grass.

Without thinking twice, the leader of the trio of wolves howled and ran in that direction, ready to take this delicious meal.
