Slime Evolution

Chapter 19: 19 - Mana Stone

Although he was afraid and didn’t know what this girl would do to him, Lohan knew that he was still too weak to resist, and a battle now had a high chance of resulting in his death, so he didn’t even use his digestion on the girl, leaving her leaf clothes completely intact.

The girl held him in her arms and was surprised that she wasn’t being corroded, even though she wasn’t afraid of a Slime’s corrosion.

From all her experiences with Slimes, even the largest slimes posed no danger to her, so what could a slime as small as this do?

What neither she nor Lohan knew was that with [Efficient Digestion Lv 8], Lohan already had the ability to corrode her clothes, albeit a little slowly, and if he used it on her skin, the girl might even feel pain!

But Lohan didn’t want to risk an attack, and the girl didn’t imagine that this little Slime had such advanced Skills even though it was so small, so nothing happened.

”Your body is different... you’re still very soft, but it seems that your skin is different from the other Slimes I’ve held.” She asked in a low voice, as if talking to herself.

Lohan didn’t want to reveal any secrets, but to keep the girl interested, he used [Structural Stability Lv 5] and [Reinforced Exoskeleton Lv 2] to make his ”skin” harder and softer in sequence.

”You can control that!!!!

Wow, you’re the most unique Slime I’ve ever seen!” The girl said, jumping up and down with excitement as she watched Lohan’s demonstration.

”Should I take you to my master to see? But she hates slimes... I’m afraid that if I take you to her, she’ll destroy you before I can explain your situation... what should I do?”

Hearing that, Lohan was so scared that his body even began to tremble slightly in the elven girl’s lap.

Seeing the little Slime trembling at her words, the girl remembered that he could understand what she was saying and felt guilty. ”I’m sorry, don’t worry, I won’t take you to my master, okay?! As an apology, you can have this Mana stone.”

Saying that, she put Lohan on the ground and handed him a small blue gem the size of a fingernail.

Lohan looked at it curiously, having never seen a Mana stone like that before, and confused as to how useful it could be considering how small the gem was.

’This looks a bit like the core of a slime, but its density is much higher...’

Looking at the little Slime who just stared at her and the Mana stone without doing anything, the girl explained. ”Don’t be afraid, this is a Mana stone. As far as I know, Slimes love Mana stones and can undergo great evolutions after absorbing one.”

Curious, Lohan extended his ”hand” and ”took” the Mana Stone, or rather, he extended his tentacle and the stone entered his skin.

Starting digestion, Lohan was shocked by what he saw.

[Organic Matter Detected]

[Mana Stone (Low Purity)

>> Biomass: 98 Units

Do you want to absorb it?]

...

Looking at the window that appeared, Lohan was shocked.

’98 Units of Biomass in just this tiny little Mana Stone?! Yes, of course I want to absorb it!’

Starting the absorption, Lohan’s jelly began to bubble and the Mana Stone inside his body slowly began to be digested.

The amount of Biomass in that gem was so great that Lohan had to focus completely on digesting it, ignoring the grass beneath him and focusing his digestion solely on the Mana Stone.

Seeing the little Slime digesting it, the elf girl smiled excitedly. ”Very well, I don’t know how much this can help you, but even the big slimes go crazy for Mana stones when they see them. If you like it, I can bring you more tomorrow, little girl!”

Hearing that, if Lohan had eyes, they would be shining right now.

’Yes! Yes, of course, why wouldn’t I want that?! Even if I can’t absorb it all right now, I can store several Mana Stones in my body and digest them little by little, right?!’

Excited by the proposal, Lohan gave a thumbs up with his ”hand” and continued digesting.

Smiling, the girl reached out and stroked Lohan’s round head, or body. ”Very well, then hide well and develop yourself better. In a little while, my master will come looking for me, and if she sees you, something bad might happen, so try to find me here again tomorrow.”

Hearing that her master could come at any moment, Lohan waved goodbye to the girl and rolled away at full speed, not corroding anything on the ground to leave no trace of where he went as he focused on digesting the Mana stone itself.

”Even though she’s small, this little girl is really fast... wait, is this slime a boy or a girl? I guess she could be either, right? If I’m not mistaken, slimes don’t have a gender, so she shouldn’t mind me treating her like a little girl, right?” The girl thought contentedly, remembering how cute that little slime had been.

Lohan, who was a few dozen meters away after a few minutes of rolling at full speed, had no idea that he had become a ”little girl” in the eyes of that teenage elf.

Being at a safe distance, Lohan summoned his Clone again and let the clone continue to consume the grass around him while he focused entirely on consuming the mana stone.

’With so much biomass in this mana stone, I should be able to improve my efficiency several times over, even if the cost of upgrading this skill is high, right?!’

[Efficient Digestion Lv 8] was Lohan’s favorite investment, but the current upgrade cost was already at 7.43 Biomass, and with each level this skill rose, the cost increased by 25%.

Even though he always wanted to buy upgrades for this skill, he was always very economical, focusing on other skills to upgrade before this one, but now, with a mana stone like this, Lohan decided to spoil himself a little and improve this skill a few times.

Since he didn’t need to focus on completely digesting the grass while walking, Lohan could explore the forest he was in much more while rolling at almost full speed.

While exploring, Lohan finally found other low-level creatures that he could face in the future.

The monsters that are usually present at the beginning of the multiplayer adventure in various games, Goblins!

Looking at their structure, Lohan realized that the battle would now possibly be quite dangerous, especially without knowing how resistant these Goblins were to his corrosion, so he decided to wait for his Mana stone to be completely digested and with the 98 Biomass from that, plus the Biomass he received from his other skills, he would have so many upgrades that he would be safer to face these goblins.

”Great, now I just need to be patient and enjoy my gains.”

-xXx-

NunuNote: Some may criticize Lohan for showing too much intelligence at a time like this, claiming that he should hide more and let the girl think that he is just a slightly above-average slime, but considering that he is scared in a dangerous situation where he could even completely lose his character at the whim of another, I think it makes sense, right?

Don’t worry, Lohan isn’t a fool who trusts just anyone, much less the type I detest the most, a fool who trusts any pretty girl just because she’s pretty.

I thought I’d write this just as a concern, imagining that some less patient readers might read this and criticize the story without letting me cook.

I hope you’re enjoying it!
