Slime Evolution

Chapter 38: 38 - New Mount

”Hi, I’m Halon.” Lohan introduced himself using his ID on Elysium.

Although he sensed goodwill from this fox, he still didn’t know her well enough to trust her with his real name, especially after realizing that she was someone from the Upper Zone. He didn’t know how she would react when she found out that he was someone from the Lower Zone.

”Halon... great name, I’ll send you a friend request.” She said as she focused on something invisible in front of her.

Soon a floating window appeared in front of Lohan.

[The player ”Lisa” has sent you a friend request. Accept?]

Lohan didn’t hesitate and accepted, causing his friend list, which had always been empty, to finally have a [+1] next to it, indicating that a friend was online.

Curious, he opened this menu and saw Lisa’s profile.

[Name: Lisa

Level: 03

Status:

Online]
This Status screen was simpler than Lohan had imagined, showing only three basic pieces of information, but on second thought, this information was already essential.

Just as Lohan looked at Lisa’s profile, she also looked at Halon’s profile.

[Name: Halon

Level: 01

Status: Online]

Looking at such a low level, she was surprised.

’Shouldn’t he be at least at level 02? With the strength he showed in dealing with that Goblin, his strength is not only much greater than that of other Slimes, but also stronger than the other Lv 01 monsters I’ve encountered, probably around Lv 02 now... is that the advantage of a Mythical Race?’ She thought, confused.

Suddenly she noticed another detail. ”Are you still at Lv 01? When did you start playing?!”

Although she had been following this Slime for a few days, Lisa didn’t know how long he had been playing, but she estimated that he had also been playing since the first day, like her, but how did he gain so little experience in that time?

Hearing her question, if Lohan had eyes, he would have rolled them now. ”Maybe it’s because there was a Legendary Fox running through the forest at high speed and killing all the monsters? In the last few days, I had to search for over an hour to find each monster.”

Lisa’s eyes widened and she looked away. ”I’m sorry, I didn’t think the respawn rate of these monsters was so low.”

”Don’t worry, I was still able to get stronger even though I didn’t kill monsters.” Lohan replied without caring much, as he said, he didn’t even necessarily need to kill monsters to get stronger.

If he had a large stock of plants to digest, he could stay at Lv 01 forever and still be stronger than higher-level players.

Lisa related this answer to what she had observed from this Slime over the past few days, and her curiosity could finally be satisfied. ”Are you talking about your skill of digesting things? Is that how you got that ice magic?”

Remembering using Ice Spike against the Goblin Lisa brought to him, Lohan didn’t bother to hide it.

”Yeah, I have a chance to gain characteristics from things I absorb,” he said.

”But what did you absorb that gave you that magic? I don’t remember anything in this area with magic like that,” she asked, tilting her head curiously.

Introducing herself as Lisa, she felt much more free to act as she pleased. After all, no one knew her true identity, so there was no need to strictly follow etiquette and maintain the image of a perfect girl all the time.

Although she felt more free in Elysium, Lisa still unconsciously restrained herself quite a bit. It wasn’t so easy to change habits developed over almost two decades.

In response to her question, Lohan moved the Mana Stone inside him and held it in his small hand. ”As you may have noticed, I received some Mana Stones as gifts, one of which gave me that skill.”

Lisa didn’t doubt him; she saw how he grew stronger by absorbing other Slimes.

Her Legendary Race also had great advantages that other weaker races did not have, so she accepted this naturally.

”Great, now that I’ve added you, I can finally leave this area.” She said as she looked around, analyzing which direction she should go to continue leveling up. ”Do you want to come with me? With my help, getting you to Lv 03 will be pretty quick.”

This proposal interested Lohan.

From what Lisa said, leveling up really increased one’s power, so he was curious to know what it would feel like to get stronger this way, and what he would receive for leveling up.

Thinking that he still had a few free hours to play before having to sleep to go to college tomorrow, and that he had already talked to Aeliana today, Lohan replied excitedly.

”Sure, where are we going?”

Finding the right direction, Lisa started walking, and Lohan rolled around, her speed increasing whenever she noticed he could keep up, until she reached his maximum speed, which to her was still terribly slow.

”Hmm, I was planning to take you to a Kobold camp on the edge of the forest, but with your speed I think it will take us too long to get there...”

Lohan was embarrassed.

[Viscous Flow] was already at Lv 13, which made his current speed 0.67 m/s.

For him, that speed was already very high, but compared to the speed Lisa showed, Lohan was like a small child running alongside Usain Bolt.

Suddenly, Lisa had an idea, but she felt a little uncomfortable.

”You can adjust your grip, right? Just like you did with the Goblin... does that skill use a lot of Mana?” She asked as she stopped and looked at him, internally hoping that he would say it was unfeasible.

Lohan was confused, but still answered honestly. ”No, the cost is practically irrelevant, why?”

Hearing this, Lisa hesitated for a few seconds.

Looking at Halon in front of her, just a cute blue jelly ball, faceless, limbless, looking like a small fluffy pillow, she sighed.

”Can you climb on my back and use that skill to stick to me? The place we’re going is 5 kilometers away from here, at your speed it will take us over 2 hours to get there...” She said, accepting her fate. ”But if you climb on my back, at my speed it will only take us 8 minutes.”

Lohan was shocked.

’Damn, I thought I was getting fast with my current speed, but apparently I’m far from the real powerhouses... but come to think of it, an average adult human runs at an average of 8 m/s, running 5 kilometers in 8 minutes is equivalent to a speed of 10 m/s, just a little faster than the speed of a normal human.’

With the possibility of saving 2 hours, Lohan didn’t hesitate and rolled towards Lisa, gently climbing onto her back and using [Selective Viscosity] to stick to her without hurting her.

Fortunately for Lisa, the feeling of the Slime climbing on her back was not as unpleasant as she had imagined.

Although large, its density was much lower than that of other creatures, making its weight much lighter than hers. And with the flexibility of its body, the feeling was as if she were wearing a gel coat, cold and a little sticky, but it did not hinder her movement at all.

”Ready?” she asked, without looking at him, still a little uncomfortable with the proximity. (Not in the way you’re thinking, hehe >:D)

”Yep,” he replied relaxed, excited to experience the sensation of riding a Legendary Fox.

He had always seen videos of people riding horses and other animals and felt very envious, so now that he could have a similar experience, Lohan was excited.
