When Yan and Chen Yu arrived at Han Defu’s mansion, Han Defu was talking to a guard from the Royal Palace in the courtyard.

”So, it’s about time. Don’t worry, we are ready,”

Han Defu paused and looked towards the sky and then he smiled, ”Give my regards to His Majesty”.

”Sure, Lord Han Defu. Also, His Majesty expects a lot from your unit. I hope you don’t disappoint him.” The guard said.

”Don’t worry, we have Chen Yu.” Han Defu said.

”Yes, you got him.” The guard nodded.

”But make good use of that guy, I have to leave, His Majesty is waiting for my return.” The guard said and left.

After he left, Han Defu noticed Chen Yu and Yan, and said, ”Chen Yu, prepare to depart for the Golden Eagle City.”

”Your surviving old comrades are already waiting at the Golden Eagle City,”

”Also, I have recruited a few new guys from the capital, they will be arriving in an hour, you will march with them to the Golden Eagle City as the Commander.”

Han Defu said.

”As you wish, Lord Han Defu.” Chen Yu bowed.

”And don’t disappoint me, and don’t get my men killed, it has been a bit hard to recruit them,”

”Remember, The king is expecting good results like the last time.” Han Defu said and went inside his mansion.

”Yes, Lord.” Chen Yu kept his head down.

Then Han Defu walked inside the Mansion as Chen Yu turned towards Yan.

”I am still not strong enough to kill Yomi, but if I get any chance, I will do it.” Chen Yu declared with resolve.

Yan did not say anything, he glanced at Chen Yu, then walked towards a soft ground in the courtyard where he often buries himself and cultivates.

He dug the pit up, buried himself up to the head and began cultivating.

Meanwhile Chen Yu sat down and began to cultivate as well.

Soon an hour passed.

A group of two hundred men arrived outside Han Defu’s mansion.

A bearded man entered the courtyard first, followed by the other 199 soldiers.

He stopped when he saw two men waiting there.

One was sitting normally, seemed to be cultivating.

The other was buried in the ground up to his neck, also seemed to be cultivating.

What a strange way to cultivate, Gwalior thought.

That must be the commander.

He stared at Yan for another moment before walking toward him, ”You must be Commander Chen Yu, I am Gwalior, the unofficial leader of the new group.”

Gwalior pointed his fingers towards the men, who stood around Chen Yu.

Yan took a closer look at them, all of them had bruises on their faces.

”I am not Chen Yu.” Yan replied.

Gwalior’s brows furrowed, then he looked at the other person, who already stood up.

”I am Chen Yu.” Chen Yu introduced himself.

At the same time, Chen Yu examined the new people. The new members did not look like farmers or random old men; all of them were fit and well fed.

Gwalior immediately walked towards Chen Yu and extended his hand, ”My apologies! I couldn’t recognise the hero. I am Gwalior, the unofficial leader of the new group.”

”You guys look strong.” Chen Yu extended his hand and shook his hand.

”Of course. Most of us have worked as private soldiers for nobles before. As for me…”

Gwalior released his Spiritual Qi. The pressure of Formation Layer 9 was around him.

“I am the strongest among them. I defeated every one of them.”

Chen Yu tried to keep his legs steady while they tried to tremble, and said, ”Let’s start in about ten minutes, towards Golden Eagle City. I am looking forward to working with you.”

The way to Golden Eagle City takes about three days by foot, and the pigeons cross them in a day.

That day, Chen Yu marched towards the Golden Eagle City with his unit.

Chen Yu and Gwalior were riding the horses while others travelled on foot.

After about five hours, they left the Capital behind.

Neigh!

The horses halted at open places with grown grasses as the wind blew through them.

”Commander, let’s rest here for about twenty minutes,” Gwalior said.

”Okay,” Chen Yu nodded.

”Finally, my legs...” A skinny man among them complained as he dropped to the ground.

Others did as well.

When the group sat in one place, Yan was seated a bit far away alone.

”That soldier under you sure knows how to pretend. Why can’t he just come and sit here?” Gwalior sat next to Chen Yu and said while looking at Yan.

”He doesn’t respect you. Commander, do you want me to show him the hierarchy?”

”No, it’s just his personality. Leave him alone.” Chen Yu waved his hand.

”Understood,” Gwalior said.

Then they chatted for more time before standing up and returning to march towards the Golden Eagle City.

The night arrived in 3 more hours. They hunted animals for food and made a camp.

”I miss my beer,” the skinny man complained while sitting around one of the campfires that they lit up.

Beside him, a man with a scar on his nose sat. ”I miss my children.”

”Don’t worry guys, we will return once the war is over.” A man was roasting a rabbit that they caught when it tried to slip away through the darkness.

But no one around believed in his words.

War was cruel. People died. People were forgotten.

Meanwhile, Chen Yu leaned against a tree looking at the people sitting near the campfires.

Some joked and laughed, some stayed silent, while others just slept. Then his eyes fell on a silhouette that was buried in the ground with only his head up.

”Commander, what are you thinking?” Gwalior’s voice came from next to him.

”I am weak,”

”I am weaker than you, and..

”Maybe weaker than some of your companions.” Chen Yu pointed his fingers towards two people who earlier had shown a Spiritual Qi Formation Level 7 aura when hunting animals.

”Well, I didn’t know about that! ” Gwalior said, then he paused.

”So you just listen to me, I am stronger.” Gwalior patted Chen Yu’s head as he emitted Spiritual QI Formation Layer 9 Aura.

Chen Yu stood still for a while, but under his calm outward experience, his fear resurfaced.

”Why should he?” Right then a voice interrupted them.

It came from the man buried in the ground.

Gwalior froze for a moment and looked at Yan.

”Bread..” Chen Yu murmured, a memory of courage surfaced in his mind.

At the same time, Chen Yu grabbed Gwalior’s wrist and lifted his hand away from his head.

Gwalior looked back at him.

Chen Yu released his cultivation aura, and his hand was still trembling, but he didn’t let go.

“Yes. Why should I?”
