Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: All So Dramatic

Using the excuse that his mother wasn’t feeling well, Fu Zimo took Mrs. Fu back to their temporary villa to rest.

The moment they were inside, he skillfully turned off the cameras and microphones. Then, grabbing a vase from the table, he smashed it onto the floor with a cathartic CRASH.

Mrs. Fu was used to his outbursts, but the loud noise still made her flinch instinctively.

Fu Zimo’s eyes were bloodshot, making him look like a wild beast ready to pounce and tear someone to shreds. His voice was grim as he demanded, ”What the hell were you trying to do, pulling a stunt like that?”

Mrs. Fu’s lips trembled. It took her several seconds to force out a barely audible, ”I... I don’t know.” At the time, her mind had felt foggy, and she had acted purely on impulse, without any thought for the consequences.

Recalling what she had just said and done, Mrs. Fu’s face flushed with shame. She wished she could just quit the show on the spot.

”Are a lot of people scolding me online?”

Fu Zimo closed his eyes, trying to calm himself. ”No.”

Mrs. Fu let out a sigh of relief. Seeing the grim expression on her son’s face, she felt a pang of guilt. ”Did I cause trouble for you?”

Fu Zimo opened his eyes. The redness had faded slightly, and while his tone was less grim, it was still cold. ”Use your head before you speak or act from now on.”

A flicker of hurt crossed Mrs. Fu’s eyes. She nodded silently.

Fu Zimo sat on the sofa and took out his phone. He had to mentally prepare himself for a moment before opening Weibo.

On the way back, he had already seen the messages from his agent.

The online backlash was already under control, and the damage wasn’t severe. But the incident was a ticking time bomb. If his mother ever did anything else outrageous, this would inevitably be brought up again, turning into a sharp arrow aimed right at them.

Fu Zimo’s thoughts turned to Huo Xinghai and Gu Qingyin, who had been watching the drama unfold. If Gu Qingyin hadn’t opened her big mouth and suggested watching the replay, they wouldn’t have been so thoroughly humiliated!

’Gu Qingyin must have done it on purpose!’

Desperate for an outlet for his anger, he targeted Gu Qingyin for her ill-timed suggestion. After all, she was Huo Xinghai’s mother. They were natural adversaries, so it was only logical for Fu Zimo to shift the blame to her.

Exiting Weibo, Fu Zimo called his agent.

”That trending topic about Huo Xinghai... hire some bots to boost its popularity.”

”But that’s fake news. The Huo Family has already debunked it,” the agent said, hesitant. ”What if the Huo Family investigates?”

A dark light flickered in Fu Zimo’s eyes. ”Be careful. They won’t trace it back to us.” He paused, then couldn’t help but sneer. ”Besides, who knows if that paternity test report is even real.”

’Gu Qingyin doesn’t just look well-maintained; she looks genuinely young. How could she possibly be Huo Xinghai’s biological mother?’

The agent’s eyes widened. ”The Huo Family is being incredibly bold. If this gets exposed, the entire corporation’s reputation will take a hit.”

”The Huo Family has always been arrogant. Why would they care about that?” Fu Zimo urged. ”Just get it done first.”

While the two were talking, Mrs. Fu remained standing in the same spot, head bowed and motionless, like a child who had done something wrong.

Only after hanging up did Fu Zimo look at her. His expression was laced with annoyance, but his tone was much milder when he spoke. ”Go get some rest. We’ll go out again later.”

Mrs. Fu silently returned to her room, as meek as a lamb, all her earlier arrogance gone.

Fu Zimo clicked his tongue in disdain. ’She’s becoming more and more of an embarrassment,’ he thought. ’No wonder Dad never wants to come home.’

As Mrs. Fu entered her room, a wisp of black energy flickered in her eyes, and her expression instantly became dazed. She staggered to the bed, lay down, and fell asleep the moment she closed her eyes.

Meanwhile, the instructor for the jetpacking activity still hadn’t returned. After discussing it with the person in charge, the director temporarily switched to a different activity.

The follow-cam director had been coordinating with the main director. When he finished, he realized Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai were still standing by the shore, facing the ocean, though he wasn’t sure what they were looking at.

The follow-cam director hurried over to inform them, ”The jetpacking has been switched to a helicopter tour. You don’t have to wait anymore.”

Gu Qingyin kept her gaze fixed on the sea’s surface, a serious look on her face.

Huo Xinghai glanced at her before taking the lead. He smiled and nodded. ”Alright, we’ll head over after enjoying the breeze for a bit.”

Having delivered the message, the follow-cam director stepped back behind the camera.

The livestream picture returned to normal: a blue sky, the vast ocean, a gentle breeze, the occasional cry of a bird, and the silhouettes of a handsome man and a beautiful woman.

[So therapeutic.]

[My jerk boss had me seeing red, but this scene suddenly calmed me down.]

[So beautiful, like an oil painting.]

[Where is this? I want to go on vacation now too.]

[Me too, but I have to work...]

[Me too...]

[Don’t say it. We corporate drones don’t deserve vacations.]

”What are you looking at?” Huo Xinghai finally couldn’t help but ask.

Gu Qingyin snapped back to reality, her brow furrowed slightly as she shook her head. ”It’s nothing. Let’s go.”

’Mrs. Fu was definitely afflicted by Evil Qi,’ she thought. ’But I just scanned the entire surrounding sea, and everything seems perfectly normal.’

’Could it be that Mrs. Fu didn’t pick up the Evil Qi here?’

Huo Xinghai’s expression didn’t change, but he felt a little unhappy inside. ’Gu Qingyin wasn’t telling the truth. Why did she lie? Is it because she doesn’t want to talk about it on camera, or because she doesn’t want to tell me?’

”Where’s your Jade Pendant?” Gu Qingyin asked, looking at Huo Xinghai’s bare neck with disapproval. ”Didn’t I tell you to wear it at all times? Where is it? We’re going to get it right now, and once it’s on, you’re not allowed to take it off.”

Huo Xinghai was taken aback. ”It’s in the villa.”

Gu Qingyin immediately turned and started walking back.

Huo Xinghai didn’t understand. ”Can’t I just put it on when we get back later? I’m afraid I’ll drop it in the ocean and lose it.”

Her anger subsided a little at his words. ”It won’t fall off. And even if it does, I’ll just make you another one. It’s an Amulet. How can you just take it off so carelessly?”

Hearing the concern in her voice, the slight frustration in Huo Xinghai’s heart instantly vanished. He smiled and said, ”Alright, let’s go get it now. I promise I’ll never take it off again.”

Gu Qingyin huffed. ”That’s more like it.”

[An Amulet? Did his mom make it for Haibao’er herself? Aww, so much love!]

[What kind of Amulet is it? I want one just like it!]

[They’ll show it later. In a few days, you’ll be able to find a knockoff online. Don’t worry.]

[You guys have no ambition. I’m different. I want the real one!]

[To the person above, in your dreams!]

The beach was still some distance from their villa; it was a ten-minute-plus ride by golf cart.

Some people in the livestream chat didn’t get it. ’So he forgot to wear it, big deal. Why insist on going back for it now? Can’t he just remember to wear it next time?’

Someone else commented that both mothers were quite dramatic.

Huo Xinghai didn’t quite understand either, but he was happy to obey.

Growing up, he had always envied his classmates who were disciplined and scolded by their mothers. When he heard them complain, he thought they were ungrateful. ’How wonderful it must be to have a mother who looks after you like that!’

Now, he was finally experiencing that feeling for himself.

Huo Xinghai’s good mood lasted all the way back to the villa until he put on the Jade Pendant.

Afterward, Gu Qingyin turned off her microphone and said to him, ”This island isn’t clean. From now on, don’t take this Amulet off for even a second.”
