Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: An Unexpected Discovery

After choosing their rooms, the three families boarded separate small sightseeing carts with their luggage, which took them to their respective residences.

The residence for Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai was a small, two-story villa in a Japanese tatami style. Warm lights greeted them as they entered, giving the space a comfortable feel.

Out of habit, Gu Qingyin scanned her surroundings.

’The house must have been vacant for a while. A faint Yin Qi has gathered all around, but it’s not a big deal. A couple of days of human presence will be enough to disperse it.’

”The bedrooms are upstairs. The first floor is the common area and kitchen,” the follow-cam director reminded them in a low voice. ”You two can rest for a bit. We’ll gather on the beach in an hour. You’ll need to wear swimsuits.”

Gu Qingyin thanked him with a bright smile and went upstairs with Huo Xinghai.

Cameras had been installed in the villa in advance. After giving their instructions, the cameraman and the follow-cam director left.

There were three bedrooms upstairs, all with similar decor. Each had an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet, but they faced different directions.

Gu Qingyin chose the south-facing one. Huo Xinghai picked the room across the hall from hers; it had slightly worse lighting but an extra window, providing better ventilation.

After unpacking her luggage and taking a shower, Gu Qingyin flopped onto the bed. ’Finally, I can catch up on some sleep.’

An hour later, the three family groups straggled onto the beach.

Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai were the first to arrive. Standing together, their similar faces wore the same listless expressions.

Seeing this, the director thought, ’Who could see this and still doubt their relationship? Unless they’re blind.’

A moment later, the Lin Family Siblings walked over, one after the other.

Gu Qingyin looked up, suddenly alert.

’Did the Lin Family Siblings use that hour to go tomb raiding or something? The Yin Qi around them is so thick I can barely see their faces.’

Lin Xian was doing okay. Men have stronger vital energy, so on the surface, nothing seemed out of the ordinary for now. Lin Tian, on the other hand, was a different story. Her complexion looked okay thanks to her makeup, but her eyes were obviously listless.

As she drew near Gu Qingyin, she even shivered and muttered, ”The sun is so strong, but I feel so cold. Am I coming down with a cold?”

Gu Qingyin leaned a little closer and asked in a low voice, ”What were you up to just now?”

Lin Tian was a little taken aback by her sudden closeness but replied politely, ”Nothing, really. I went back to the villa, unpacked a bit, and then went to sleep.” She frowned. ”I felt a little cold when I was showering. Maybe the water temperature was too low, and I caught a chill.”

’Gu Qingyin was a bit surprised. The Lin Family Siblings’ villa had a futuristic tech style; it should have been recently renovated. How could it have such dense Yin Qi? It couldn’t be that the place was just remote and some lonely ghost decided to move in, right? That would be some seriously bad luck.’

She lowered her gaze, thinking to herself, ’I’ll have to find a chance to check out the Lin Family’s villa tonight.’

A moment later, the Fu Family mother and son also arrived, and the livestream officially began.

[Swimsuits!!!]

[Haibao’er actually has abs! I always thought he was a somewhat frail boy!]

[I’M SO HYPED! HUBBY!]

[Lin Tian’s swimsuit is so conservative. It even has cute little pink strawberries on it. As expected of our sweet girl!]

[Suddenly, I feel like Big Bro Lin has gotten much more handsome. A good body really is a man’s second face!]

[The two moms’ styles are totally not what I expected.]

[One’s in a sporty, professional getup with a long-sleeved top and shorts, while the other looks like a little fairy in a camisole and short skirt.]

[Hiss... Mrs. Huo’s figure is amazing. I have to ask again, how on earth does she maintain it?]

The enthusiasm in the livestream chat was high, and the director was very satisfied. He raised a megaphone and started the program.

”As you all know, this is a travel variety show, focused on being relaxed and fun. Next up, there are no tasks, only experiences.” The director took out a stack of photos. ”There are six activities here. Take a look. Each family group must try at least two.”

”But!” The director’s tone shifted, and he said enticingly, ”For every extra activity you try, you’ll get an extra main course for lunch! To put it simply, it’s the difference between eating your fill and eating well. The choice is yours.”

A staff member came forward to hand out photos of the activities, which the six of them passed around.

The six activities were all common ones, with varying levels of difficulty.

Parasailing and flyboarding—these didn’t require much skill, just courage. Jet skiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling, and kayaking—these four required technique. Even if you were brave enough, you might not succeed.

”Director,” Huo Xinghai asked the key question after looking through them, ”for these activities, can we get the reward if just one person tries it, or do both people in a group have to participate?”

Lin Tian’s eyes widened, her gaze toward the director holding a hint of unconscious pleading. Fu Zimo and his mother also perked up their ears.

The director gave a slight smile. ”The extra dish is for two people, so of course, both of you have to participate.”

Lin Tian immediately let out a wail. Then, struck by a sudden idea, she shouted, ”Director! Get me a thermometer! I think I have a fever!”

A guest’s safety was at stake, so even though he suspected Lin Tian was faking, the director still had the on-site doctor bring over a thermometer.

As it turned out, she really did have a low-grade fever.

Lin Tian’s eyes instantly lit up. ”I can’t go in the water! My brother will represent me in battle!”

Lin Xian clicked his tongue. ”How can you be so frail?” He raised his hand and ruffled Lin Tian’s hair. ”Go back, take some medicine, and sleep. Wait for your big brother to win you a grand feast.”

For the sake of the grand feast, Lin Tian reluctantly laid on the flattery.

Meanwhile, the production team finished their discussion.

”Since Lin Tian can’t go in the water for health reasons, if you want the extra dishes, Lin Xian will have to do double the work. He’ll have to do each activity twice.” The director proposed, ”Are you okay with that?”

Lin Xian lifted his chin, completely unfazed. ”No problem.”

Lin Tian made a fist-pumping ”go for it” gesture at Lin Xian and was about to turn back to the villa, but Gu Qingyin, who was standing by, stopped her with a hand. ”It’ll be so lonely going back by yourself. Wouldn’t it be more interesting to get a lounge chair and a parasol and lie here watching us do the activities?”

Lin Tian was tempted. ”But I’m cold.”

”Just put on a jacket,” Gu Qingyin coaxed in a low voice. ”You won’t get any screen time if you go back.”

As expected, Lin Tian hesitated. Her original goal was just to avoid the water activities. Now that she had achieved it, she didn’t necessarily have to go back to the villa. Besides, she was on the show for exposure; every second of lost screen time was a loss for her.

Lin Tian smiled and thanked Gu Qingyin, then went to talk it over with the production team.

The production team quickly set up a lounge chair and a parasol, and as a bonus, they threw in a megaphone so Lin Tian could easily call out to the other guests.

Wrapped in a jacket, Lin Tian sat on the chair, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. ”Have I just unlocked the new job of ’Observer’? Should I be signing a new contract?”

The director sneered, ”Your fantasies are as pretty as you are.”

Lin Tian huffed lightly. ”Seeing as you praised my looks, this fairy will let it slide.”

After the brief interlude, the three family groups set off for their respective activity locations.

Gu Qingyin followed behind Huo Xinghai, rubbing her fingers together to feel the lingering trace of Yin Qi.

’It doesn’t feel like a typical Fierce Ghost,’ she thought. ’It’s more like... a Ghost Cultivator.’
