Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Also Going Viral

”Which one do you want to try first?” Huo Xinghai asked, turning back.

Gu Qingyin snapped back to reality and looked up with a smile. ”I’m good with anything. You decide.”

Huo Xinghai leaned in closer, covered both their mics, and whispered, ”You can swim, right?”

Gu Qingyin shook her head honestly. ”I can’t.” ’I was raised on a mountain by my master since I was a child. There wasn’t even a decent-sized pond, so where would I have learned to swim?’

Huo Xinghai nodded. It wasn’t a big deal. As long as she could get over any fear of water, they could still go surfing or snorkeling. After a moment of deliberation, he said, ”Let’s do the jet skis first.”

The mother and son walked side-by-side towards the jet skis, chatting as they went.

”If you fall in the water later, don’t be scared,” Huo Xinghai said. ”Just try to relax your body. The life vest will keep you afloat, and the production team’s rescue boat is right there watching. There’s no danger.”

Gu Qingyin nodded, beaming, clearly enjoying her son’s concern.

”Are you a good swimmer?” Gu Qingyin asked.

Huo Xinghai gave a resigned smile. ”I’ve been on the school swim team since elementary school.” ’He shouldn’t have bothered covering their mics. The netizens were probably already speculating again about why they seemed so distant.’

’Oh well, whatever happens, happens.’

Gu Qingyin didn’t sense that anything was amiss. She just wanted to learn more about her son, so she continued, ”Have you ever been in any competitions?”

Huo Xinghai puffed out his chest. ”Of course! I’m a Class II National Athlete in swimming!”

Gu Qingyin was incredibly supportive, immediately breaking into applause. Her voice swelled with pride. ”My son is amazing! Not only is he a great swimmer, he’s an incredible songwriter too!”

Huo Xinghai’s eyes crinkled into a smile. ’Plenty of people praised him, but getting a compliment from his mom felt completely different!’

’He was so excited and happy, he felt like crying.’

[Hmm... I don’t know what to make of this.]

[Are all rich mothers and sons this distant?]

[Fu Zimo and his mom aren’t like this.]

As the guests had split up, the livestream was divided into four separate feeds, with the Lin Family Siblings occupying two of them.

[Are they even really mother and son? Gu Qingyin knows nothing about Haibao’er. It’s so weird.]

[Like two strangers who just happen to look alike.]

Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai had no idea that because of their conversation, the old hashtag ”Huo Xinghai Hired an Actress to Play His Mom” was trending again. But before it could cause much of a stir, it was swiftly removed by the Huo Family’s PR department.

By now, the two had reached the area where the jet skis were docked and were speaking with a safety officer.

Huo Xinghai had originally thought he could just ride a jet ski with Gu Qingyin on the back, take a lap around the bay, and complete the task. However, the safety officer told them they each had to ride their own.

Huo Xinghai, of course, disagreed, but he was no match for Gu Qingyin’s eagerness to try.

”I can do it.” Gu Qingyin’s eyes lit up. ”How do you ride this thing?”

Although she was Huo Xinghai’s mother, she was actually just a young woman in her twenties. Naturally, she wanted to try new and exciting things she’d never experienced before.

Huo Xinghai was genuinely worried. ”What if you fall off? It’s too dangerous.”

”Didn’t you just say to relax, float on the water, and wait for rescue?” Gu Qingyin was completely unfazed, patting his shoulder with a smile. ”There are so many people here, it can’t be dangerous. If it really was, the production team wouldn’t have made it an option.”

The director, who was glued to the livestream, was left speechless. ’Didn’t I give them six activities to choose from?! If you insist on picking the dangerous one, don’t you dare try to pin the blame on me!’

Grumbling aside, when Gu Qingyin actually prepared to take the jet ski into the water, the director hurriedly contacted the safety officer, telling him to follow her and be ready to perform a rescue at a moment’s notice.

Huo Xinghai also got on a jet ski to follow her, but he didn’t dare get too close for fear of a collision. He was confident in his own skills, but as for Gu Qingyin’s... words failed him.

After following for a short while, Huo Xinghai discovered that he wasn’t just worrying for nothing.

Gu Qingyin was fearless, and with this wide expanse of open water, she was having the time of her life. She kept pulling off sharp drifts on the waves, showing no fear of falling in.

This was pure torture for Huo Xinghai, whose heart was in his throat. It hadn’t beaten normally for a single second.

Thanks to his young, fun-loving mom, he was getting an early taste of the ”joys” of looking after a child.

’He desperately wanted to just drag her back.’

The netizens in the live chat were roaring with laughter.

[One second he’s Haibao’er, the next he’s Sea Dad!]

[This has such strong ”dad taking his daughter out” vibes!]

[Does anyone else get it, fam? I think I’m about to switch biases...]

[I’m already stanning both of them [shy]]

Meanwhile, the first place Fu Zimo and Mrs. Fu went to was the Flyboard.

Mrs. Fu could swim, but she was afraid of heights. Especially since this activity didn’t have many safety measures, relying only on the instructor for protection. She felt very insecure; to put it bluntly, she had zero trust in the instructor.

The moment she was up in the air, she couldn’t stop screaming. Her body slid down uncontrollably, as if her legs had given out.

All the instructor could do was hold her tightly.

Mrs. Fu immediately shrieked and struggled fiercely.

The instructor, having lost all patience, roared, ”If you don’t want to fall, stop moving!”

Mrs. Fu had lost all reason. She couldn’t hear a word he said and actually started digging her nails into his arm.

The instructor cursed under his breath. ’Whoever wants this damn job can have it. I’m done with this!’ With that, he brought her back to the shore.

Fu Zimo watched anxiously from the shore. Not wanting to lose his composure by shouting, he held it all in, his expression darkening by the second.

Seeing them return, Fu Zimo took a deep breath and hurried over, asking with concern, ”Mom, are you okay?”

Mrs. Fu’s face was streaked with tears, her eye makeup a smudged mess. She clung to Fu Zimo’s hand. ”That was terrifying! I was scared to death...”

Fu Zimo pulled out some tissues to wipe her tears, patting her back to comfort her. ”It’s okay, it’s okay. We won’t do this activity.”

Mrs. Fu cried for several minutes. After wiping her tears, she turned her head and saw the camera.

’She’d been so terrified she’d gone blank, completely forgetting they were filming. Now, the realization hit her and she froze. Her embarrassing, tearful breakdown... had that all been broadcast live? How many people were watching their stream?’

Just as she feared, the live chat was currently in an uproar.

[BWAHAHAHAHAHA, I don’t normally laugh unless I absolutely can’t hold it in.]

[I feel bad for them, but it’s hilarious.]

[I hereby declare this round a tie between Huo Xinghai and Fu Zimo. One’s going viral for being cool, the other for being a joke, but they’re both getting famous!]

[That poor instructor, she scratched his arm until it bled.]

Mrs. Fu, perhaps desperate to salvage her image, suddenly whipped her head toward the instructor and bellowed, ”I’m filing a complaint against you!”

The instructor let out a curse and then laughed, incredulous. He started taking off his gear, turning to walk away.

Mrs. Fu’s eyes widened. ”Trying to run away? Son, hurry and stop him!”

Fu Zimo subconsciously went to grab the man when he heard Mrs. Fu shout, ”Get his supervisor! He harassed a customer during work hours!”

The words had barely left her mouth when Fu Zimo froze mid-step. He whipped his head around to stare at his mother. ’Does she have any idea what she’s saying?!’

The instructor, who had been about to walk away, stopped in his tracks. He turned back to face Mrs. Fu, his expression grim. ’If he didn’t get this cleared up today, he might never find a good job again.’
