NIGHTS OF HALLOW

Everything happened so fast that even Sthena who was standing beside Perdita could only stretch his hand wanting to grab her hand to stop her from falling into or being pulled into whatever was created there.

He watched his empty outstretched hand before him that did not have even a strand of Perdita’s hair.

”What just happened?” Daemon voiced his confusion that Sthena was too speechless to utter. ”Did she just fall into space or did she enter the room?” He continued to ask no one in particular.

”I think it is the doing of the witches,” Sthena replied, having understood why Perdita was pulled into wherever she was.

Daemon unaware of the things the witches were planning to do quizzed in confusion, ”What do you mean the witches? I thought they were only curing the boy?”

”No,” Sthena shook his head. ”They are planning to take both of them away. Perdita and Marco. They think they are the green-eyed siblings they are looking for.”

”What do you think? Do you think they are the siblings?” Daemon inquired.

”I have a hunch. But I am not sure yet. And what I will never allow is those witches taking Marco or even Perdita away from here.” Sthena declared. His red eyes simmering in anger that was about to consume the castle and everyone in it.

”What are you planning? You should know this would be very dangerous this time the witches are involved.” Daemon warned with a shake of his head.

”Nothing I haven’t done before, Dae. Besides, no one can harm or even try to kill me. What I want you to do for me is to stand outside here and keep intruders off.” The intruders being Prince Regan and Lady Rosamonda. He knew they would surely come back there because of the dead body of the fake Daemon.

Daemon nodded his head in understanding. ”How do you plan to go inside?”

”There’s always a formation that goes with the witches. Once anything they blocked is penetrated by someone, the force of their bonding will loosen allowing another person to go in.” Sthena explained.

”And this someone would be someone as powerful as them that could match their energy?” Daemon probed for confirmation to which Sthena confirmed with a nod of his head.

”Yes, you are right,” Sthena said and walked to stand in front of the door. He placed his hand on the door trying to focus his inner energy on the formation formed by the witches.

When he thought he had channeled enough energy to the door, he placed his hand on the doorknob and twisted it to open it. Instead of the door opening, it pushed Sthena backward with force.

Sthena staggered two steps back and coughed. If it had been any average vampire, the force would have thrown the person some distance away and it was very likely the person would end up with broken bones. But this was Sthena, a pureblooded vampire gifted with many abilities.

”Tough luck on that,” Daemon spoke with a teasing smile.

Sthena’s lips twitched in annoyance. ”I have to break their damn magic!” He spoke through gritted teeth.

At the same time while Sthena tried to break the magic formation of the witches, Perdita landed not so gracefully unto the hard floor of a room.

She winced in pain, feeling her bottom had probably broken from the impact. It was when she remembered how she came to the place she was in, was when she immediately struggled to her feet as her eyes fearfully searched for any danger.

What her eyes saw made her blink twice to confirm that what she saw was right and that she was not being deceived by her own sight.

There in front of her was Mr. Fredrick, Mr. Leonard, Serena, and then Marco who lay on the bed. Like Perdita, Fredrick, and Leonard were equally shocked to see Perdita inside the room. Most especially Fredrick who was the one behind the beauty sleep Perdita was having earlier though hers was not to be considered a beauty sleep but a horror sleep.

How did she wake up? Fredrick asked himself in confusion. At some point, he wondered if Perdita had indeed inhaled the sleeping-inducing spell.

The first thing that left Perdita’s lips was her brother’s name. ”Marco,” She whispered and approached the bed without bothering about the two male witches.

”You have to stop there, Lady Perdita.” Fredrick quickly blocked her way.

Perdita’s gaze went from Marco’s unconscious body to look at Mr. Fredrick. The glare in her eyes was unhidden from him. ”What are you doing? Move out of my way!” She spat and pushed Fredrick who remained unmoving from his position.

Mr. Fredrick sighed and explained calmly to Perdita, ”You will disrupt what Serena is doing if you touch him and he may die too.”

”What?!” Perdita exclaimed with wide eyes. The glare deepened as anger boiled within her. ”What did you do to him?! What are you doing to him?! What do you mean he will die?”

”As you can see, Lady Perdita,” Leonard interrupted, ”Her Ladyship, Serena, is curing your brother. That is the reason why we blocked the entrance so she will not be interrupted while still in the process of healing him. It baffles me how you were able to come inside the room, or rather fall inside the room.” He smiled at the end.

Now it was Leonard’s turn to be glared at, ”Don’t you dare taunt my brain. I know you are not curing him. You want to take him away. You want us! But I will not allow you to take him with you. You can never take us back for whatever stupid reason you have. We are not the siblings you are looking for!” Perdita spat with so much fury.

Suddenly, Serena turned to look at Perdita with her eyes still white. She said, ”Till the broken age and time. When the Hallows of the Nights invades the earth.”

Perdita blinked in confusion while wondering the meaning behind Serena’s words until it dawned on her.

What?! No! No, no, no! Perdita silently whispered after hearing what Serena said. If she remembered correctly, these were the same words the little girl in her dream had whispered before she went inside the grave.

Was she this little girl?! Why would Serena suddenly say these words?
