Realized Game: I Hoarded 10 Billion Defense Towers

Players were excitedly killing monsters for experience, all while posting about it on the Forum. Meanwhile, players in cities without monster tides could only form teams and venture out, hunting the monsters that had appeared in the wild following the fifth inheritance of game abilities. All the while, they posted on the Forum, expressing their envy for the cities that did have monster tides.

Many were even lamenting that their own cities or settlements once had monster nests, only for them to have been destroyed. This feeling intensified when someone posted on the Forum that they had leveled up five times in less than half an hour by farming monsters in a tide. Everyone grew even more frenzied.

Setting aside the new features that leveling up could unlock, the percentage-based boost to their base Attributes was enough to get everyone thrilled. Now that there was a clear rule that leveling up increased Combat Power, countless players who wanted to increase their strength were eager to raise their level as quickly as possible.

”Hm?”

A few seconds later, Shen Fei, who was browsing the Forum with a smile, suddenly discovered something unusual. He saw that as time went on, some players in cities experiencing monster tides had boosted a particular post until it went viral.

It was published by a player who had inherited Close Combat game abilities. The post was an appeal to players with ranged abilities, asking them not to mindlessly slaughter the monsters, which were being completely wiped out before even reaching the city walls. Against these ”ravenous” ranged players, the Close Combat players had been fine at first. But once the ranged players found their rhythm, the close combatants couldn’t get a single hit in on any monster. This forced many Close Combat players to stand idly on the city walls, only able to watch without reaping any rewards.

Following this player’s appeal, the post was very quickly boosted to viral status by fellow Close Combat players.

”Brother Fei!!”

”Um...”

Shen Fei was smiling as he read the complaints and appeals from the Close Combat players when, unexpectedly, he received a private message from Zhang Qiqiang, the new director of the Qing City Tourism Management Office. As Shen Fei read, Zhang Qiqiang quickly laid out the situation: he wanted Shen Fei to tell the players of the Heaven-Reaching Gang to stop being so aggressive with their kill-stealing and leave some monsters for the other Qing City players.

Just like the Close Combat players in other cities, Qing City’s Close Combat players now had nothing to fight. Even many of Qing City’s ranged players couldn’t get a hit on any monsters.

Although Qing City had a full thirty-odd monster tides, it also had something other cities did not: eight hundred Tower Masters who, like Shen Fei, had inherited their abilities from Tower Defense of Ten Thousand Realms. Following the fifth inheritance of game abilities, these Tower Masters had received most of their powers, and their Combat Power had largely taken shape. When the eight hundred members of the Heaven-Reaching Gang went all out, their Defense Towers had an incredible range, intercepting the surging monster tides from tens of kilometers away. This left the other players able to do nothing but stare in frustration.

Even though the city was well-defended by these ultra-long-range towers, as the head of the Qing City Tourism Management Office, Zhang Qiqiang’s concerns lay more with the general populace and the overall picture. With the appeals from Close Combat players on the Forum, the Close Combat players in Qing City with no monsters to fight had gone directly to Zhang Qiqiang to complain.

”Alright!”

”I understand...”

I really didn’t expect this. At this moment of the fifth inheritance of game abilities, not only do I not have to fight the monster tide myself, but players in every city are even competing over it. Now, even the players in my own Qing City are coming to me to complain over the right to fight monsters...

Shen Fei smiled faintly, replied to Zhang Qiqiang, and closed the Forum. He then sent a message to Sun Yu and Gun’Er, telling them to hold back and let half of the monster tide through. After hearing the cheers erupt from the city walls all over Qing City, Shen Fei’s gaze once again turned to the palm-sized, automatically flying Black Tortoise floating beside him, its pitch-black eyes lively and intelligent.

This inherited creature had now familiarized itself with Blue Star’s environment. Shen Fei discovered that although the Black Tortoise he inherited was highly intelligent, could understand his commands, and possessed unparalleled Combat Power, it could not speak. It couldn’t express its thoughts to Shen Fei through speech. Shen Fei could only sense some of the Black Tortoise’s emotions and intentions through its eyes.

SWISH!

SWISH!

SWISH!

Looking at the Black Tortoise, Shen Fei thought of something. He directly summoned his Defense Towers, shrank them to the size of a grain of rice, and stuck them onto the Black Tortoise’s back.

”Not bad!”

”Carry them well!”

Seeing the happiness in the Black Tortoise’s small, pitch-black eyes after the Defense Towers were stuck to its back, Shen Fei couldn’t help but smile. Its main skill was, after all, ”to carry.” His Floating City from the game had not yet been inherited, so since the Black Tortoise wanted to carry something, he’d let it.

Shen Fei saw that the number of Defense Towers carried on the Black Tortoise’s back didn’t count against the number he could summon. In other words, not counting the 100 rice-grain-sized Defense Towers he had ”planted” on the Black Tortoise’s back, he himself could still summon another 500 Defense Towers. With the Black Tortoise, the number of Defense Towers he could control had reached 600 in one go!

”Nice!”

”Nice!”

Looks like I need to put building more Defense Towers on the agenda...

He had a total of 612 Defense Towers, and after the Great Black Tortoise was inherited, the number he could control shot straight up to 600. Furthermore, Shen Fei had already gained hundreds of extra Defense Tower slots from leveling up. The matter of building more Defense Towers was now on his agenda.

WHOOSH!

WHOOSH!

WHOOSH!

Watching the Black Tortoise carry the Defense Towers, flying excitedly around him, Shen Fei sat quietly on the sofa, waiting for what would happen next. He understood that with the fifth inheritance of game abilities, new Intelligent NPCs and bosses would inevitably be inherited as well. Moreover, those NPCs and bosses that could increase their strength by Devouring their ”own kind” would also receive a boost to their Combat Power. Because of this new inheritance, the entire Blue Star would once again undergo a world-shaking transformation.

But these were not things Shen Fei wanted to bother with. Right now, he was just waiting for the version update.

.

K-THUNK!

Shen Fei didn’t have to wait long. While other people were still on the city walls farming the unending monster tide, his personal panel opened up again. Then, he saw lines of text that shocked him beyond belief scrolling out:

[Ding!]

[Special time node detected!]

[Various beyond-version events detected within the last week!]

[Ding!]

[Version 4.5 - Missions, full update complete!]

[Version 4.6 - Bloodlines, full update complete!]

[Version 4.7 - Unlocks, full update complete!]

.

The lines of text scrolled out, leaving Shen Fei dumbfounded. He knew there would most likely be a version update this time, but he never expected that three versions would be updated all at once. Furthermore, it was three partially updated versions that were now receiving their full implementation. Shen Fei had not expected such a scene at all.

Surprised, he waited another half minute. Seeing no new text appear, he couldn’t help but mutter, ”That’s it? Version 4.8 isn’t updating?”

Before his rebirth, the last version Shen Fei had experienced was version 4.7. He had thought that given the current speed of updates, version 4.8 would most likely be released this time as well. Then, he would finally find out what the so-called version 4.8 was all about. But he never expected that while all previous versions were now fully implemented, version 4.8 didn’t update at all! He still had no idea what the subsequent version would be!

”Hm?”

Just as he was about to observe what consequences the full updates to versions 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7 would cause, Shen Fei’s gaze suddenly froze again. The text on his personal panel had started moving once more.

[Ding!]

[Player Skyrocketing detected, wielding four National Treasure Divine Artifacts!]

[Ding!]

[Full version update. Complimentary version update rewards will be granted at once!]

.

To Shen Fei’s utter astonishment, a dozen or so unique items were instantly outlined in the air around him. Shen Fei instantly recognized them as items granted by his National Treasure Divine Artifact skills. Back then, the large Neutral City of the Great Xia Divine Capital, Fanghu Cave Heaven, was granted by a Divine Artifact Skill during a version update.

Now, this was happening again
