Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1622: Chapter 1617: Favor

”Thank you for your hard work, Professor Fu. Are we going to continue further?”

Due to the recent rampage of that centipede, the nearby Bone Spirit Creations have all retreated, leaving a sizable clear area in front of them. There’s no immediate worry about being disturbed.

But it won’t last long, as the dismembered body is clearly attracting the attention of onlookers; it won’t be long before they rush in to grab it.

During this brief period of calm, Lisa couldn’t help but glance at the gains of this journey and quietly asked a question.

At such a close distance, it was enough for her to confirm the previously vague feeling—what remained above was a domain of Divinity.

Incredible, after that thing’s frenzied devouring and coagulation, Divinity actually sprouted from it, making it more troublesome than imagined.

Of course, what’s even more incredible is that this troublesome level was as fragile as paper in the face of the special guest.

This temporary leader of Heaven’s Commencement beside her only sacrificed a set of clothes along with minor injuries and handled everything effortlessly.

Even the minor injuries seem almost gone by now.

As Lisa inquired, she observed the ”armor-wrapped” body.

One has to admit, although the essence is bizarre, the design combines power and beauty, making it quite pleasing to the eye.

What’s especially intriguing is that, whether intentional or not, although the skin and flesh at the wound are gradually healing, the ”armor” has not been replenished, looking like battle scars and adding a bit of momentum.

”No need, we’ve already disturbed a lot today.”

And sure enough, complementing this appearance, Professor Fu’s response was full of triumphant intent.

That’s indeed true.

While letting out a relieving sigh, Lisa unconsciously glanced around.

This time’s commotion was far more exaggerated than the last. It’s hard to imagine how the people of Linghui would react upon discovery.

Regardless of their reaction, recalling the divine prowess of Professor Fu earlier, Lisa collected the spoils with even more poise than last time, placing them into a peculiar-patterned bag.

...

”No matter what, it’s too valuable; I owe you a favor.”

As it turns out, Professor Fu’s sense of direction isn’t just talk.

The return journey was seamless, and before long, they were back at the cave entrance they came from.

After a final look at the still-bustling mist, Lisa turned and exited without much reluctance.

When Fu Qian also followed out, she displayed her straightforward side, directly stating the harvest exceeded expectations, and that she owes him quite a bit of favor.

”Don’t worry about it; my losses are much smaller than yours.”

Unfortunately, although the response was courteous, it was also quite provoking, successfully reminding Lisa of her missing two teeth.

”But since your kindness is hard to refuse, I happen to have a material application form that needs filling.”

Unexpectedly, the provocation wasn’t over yet.

After just a polite remark, Professor Fu offered a favor repayment plan, seamlessly, as if premeditated.

...

Is this karma? I remember mocking him for not understanding the rules...

Though filling out an application form is a minor task, the feeling of being set-up left Professor Lisa somewhat displeased.

But seeing the ”armor-clad” figure standing outside without any awkwardness, she decisively abandoned any attempts at moral condemnation.

His thick skin exceeds expectations; the feeling of shame simply isn’t possible for him—

”Am I being inappropriate like this?”

Shockingly, in the very next moment, Professor Fu seemed to acknowledge public decorum for once.

”Not too inappropriate.”

Lisa took a slightly relieved breath, considering his great contributions, and chose phrasing as tactful as possible.

”Regardless, with so many watching, it’s always important to be mindful of the impression.”

Unexpectedly, Professor Fu was notably self-aware today.

He shook his head to look around, wore a serious expression, and just when Lisa thought he might try to cover up for a moment, Professor Fu leaned forward slightly and performed a peculiar gesture.

At first glance, it seemed like he was pretending to put on a hat or a helmet in the void above his head.

In Lisa’s stupefied gaze, black fur emerged and spread across his face, eventually merging with his hair to form the shape of a face helmet.

”The whole body is covered, but missing one piece on the head seems terribly unfriendly to those with OCD.”

It was only then that Fu Qian explained.

... So this is the negative impact?

Did you miss the point?

At that moment, Professor Lisa couldn’t help but roar internally.

Although there’s no risk of exposure, from a distance, it might be hard to tell if it’s real armor. But at least consider your identity!

If someone recognizes you, Heaven’s Commencement’s image will take another hit.

Even if unrecognizable, at least consider how your companions feel?

Not everyone is like you.

”So... are you still filling out your application form?”

Unfortunately, the turbulent emotions never made it to the surface.

After venting internally, Lisa ultimately chose the next topic, asking coldly.

”Of course, we’re already here.”

To this, Expert Fu accepted with ease.

Sure enough, he had planned this all along...

Lisa clenched her teeth even tighter for a moment.

”What do you want to apply for?”

”Demi-God Flesh of Kaldora.”

...

”Is there a problem? It’s fine to use my name.”

Seeing Lisa’s somewhat surprised expression, Fu Qian gestured at the giant beast behind them, casually asking as he walked away under its watchful eye.

”There’s no problem... it’s just that considering the dangers, applications generally require detailed reasoning for the use. What do you intend to do with it?”

Lisa shook her head immediately, indicating there’s no procedural concern.

”It’ll be used for an upcoming field expedition.”

Fu Qian’s response was straightforward and honest.

”Alright... Though not very detailed, it’s enough for you.”

Finally with a resigned sigh, Lisa inadvertently acknowledged Fu Qian’s influence.

”But that material is stored further down, follow me.”

Saying this, she had already taken the lead.

”You’re so familiar? You apply often?”

Now it was Fu Qian’s turn to be curious, as he hurried to catch up, consulting along the way.

”No.”

Without turning her head, Lisa quickened her pace, directly tearing down a curtain with a ripping sound.

”It’s just that I’m responsible for managing that material—here, drape it on yourself.”

Saying this, she returned with the curtain and tossed it over casually.

”Does my appearance even pose a problem?”

Although he caught it, Fu Qian still had some grievances about the dress code.

”No, but I’m worried you’ll shed fur; that place has to be kept impeccably clean.”
