Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1609: Chapter 1604: Rewards for Merit, Punishments for Faults

Young people, sometimes the reason for abnormalities is not without reason.

Fu Qian had long expected Lisa’s reaction, and with a sigh in his heart, he casually walked forward and sat down heavily.

”What is this?”

Without the source of agitation, Professor Lisa calmed down considerably, and logical thinking regained its ground.

”Last time I went to your place, I was greatly shocked.”

Signaling him to sit wherever, Fu Qian explained rather nonchalantly.

”And then?”

”Then, after reflecting on it, I decided to upgrade the laboratory’s hardware facilities. This is the first piece of sponsorship I’ve received.”

This... was the shock he received?

Professor Lisa’s features were caught in a bizarre twist.

Strictly speaking, there weren’t evident logical flaws, but that was about it.

She found it hard to believe this guy would have such an emotional fluctuation.

”So you kept me outside because of this? Afraid I’d be unhappy and tear it apart?”

”How could you underestimate a person like that? I merely follow the principle of maximizing happiness, not wanting you to feel unnecessary negative emotions after hard work.”

With a laugh, Fu Qian indicated not to overthink, as he always had confidence in her self-control.

”But what’s the point of this? I’ve seen it now anyway...”

Although a simple sentence, it had a good calming effect. When Lisa spoke again, the negative emotions had noticeably dissipated.

”So I should have visited you first. I didn’t expect your efficiency to surpass my expectations.”

Fu Qian continued to respond fluently.

”Have you resolved Riet’s issue?”

...

”It wasn’t a big deal. I even thought it was slow.”

Her intention was immediately guessed, and Lisa was unsurprised, just humming temporarily, indicating it was a piece of cake.

”It’s completely resolved. Veil came by to lead them back just now. Maybe they’ll thank you later.”

”You’ve done well. I knew with Professor Lisa’s involvement, the problem would be easily solved.”

As a scholar indifferent to fame and fortune, how could Fu Qian care if the sisters would thank him, simply complimenting Professor Lisa’s research prowess.

”So now it’s time for me to thank you.”

Rewarding merits and penalties is a basic quality of a leader.

With such high efficiency from Professor Lisa in resolving issues, how could she need a reminder about rewards?

”Seems you still have a conscience...”

Indeed, the person involved was visibly satisfied with Fu Qian’s sincerity, with the last trace of resentment vanishing.

”There’s no need to rush this much.”

And the next moment, Lisa sighed lightly, explaining why she was so urgent.

”Having trouble with that thing earlier almost drove people crazy. These last two days have been a change of pace, but once things ended, headaches started again...”

”I completely understand, no obligation is too large.”

Fu Qian signaled her not to worry, expressing full empathy, even standing up while speaking.

”Let’s go then.”

”...Now?”

This level of efficiency took even the involved party by surprise.

”What, do you want to have lunch first?”

”No need... This is best.”

Once sure Fu Qian was not joking, Lisa quickly stood up, invigorated.

”By the way, who has such taste to send you this?”

Of course, before leaving, faced again with that snakeskin pattern, she couldn’t help but comment.

Be mindful of your words, Fourth Phase Transcendent.

Fu Qian sighed inwardly, not arguing, just blinking.

”Ugly?”

...

We still don’t know if Professor Lisa thought the chair was ugly.

After pondering Fu Qian’s one-word question for two seconds, she quickly focused on the upcoming scientific exploration, refusing to answer.

Under her guidance, Professor Fu Qian, a lifetime professor, came to the storeroom of Heaven’s Commencement Institute for the first time.

Compared to Linghui’s place, this was undeniably more bustling, with an infectious research atmosphere.

As a prominent figure in Heaven’s Commencement Institute recently, Fu Qian’s arrival was immediately noted, successfully uplifting everyone’s spirits.

Although most curbed their impulses, not rudely interrupting, the visibly soaring excitement was evident.

”Seeing everyone’s dedication, I feel at ease.”

In such a scene, Expert Fu, the temporary leader, also felt a sense of relief, somewhat like watching the young grow up—successfully earning himself a white-eyed glance from Professor Lisa under her glasses.

Relieved... so what’s next?

With such words sounding like preparations to leave soon, recalling Cass who had sneaked out earlier, Lisa sighed deeply for a moment.

However, it was clear she knew the focus of the trip, not dwelling on such matters, leading Fu Qian downwards until reaching a remote corner.

That almost two-story tall, bronze-cast-like, even slightly divine bulk appeared before Fu Qian once again.

The heavy prohibitions on it weren’t removed when Linghui was transferred.

The entrance to the special domain of the Fallen Deity lies within the mouth of this giant beast.

According to Linghui, one needs to establish a mental connection with it while it’s dormant, obtaining recognition before having a chance to enter—

Just as Fu Qian arrived, the beast’s huge eye suddenly opened, fixing on him.

Awoken?

Fu Qian clearly didn’t advocate disturbing one’s repose, smilingly greeting it.

Yet beneath this friendliness, that massive form directly stood up, looking wide awake.

”How about just asking it to open its mouth?”

This change prompted Riet, who was about to follow the protocol, to suggest directly to Fu Qian.

Hmm...

Even before Fu Qian could respond, a strange sound echoed, and the beast lay down, opening its mouth to reveal sharp teeth and a verdant whirlpool deep within its giant throat.

Isn’t this a bit too obedient? You’re making us seem ruthless.

Such an eager cooperative stance left Professor Lisa more shocked, even making Fu Qian feel his reputation had suffered.

The last time someone violently woke it was Cass, not me; I was just watching the entire time.

”Let’s go.”

Fortuitously, Professor Lisa obviously had no illusions about the temporary leader’s reputation, seeing the smoothly opened pathway, she took the lead.

This is her project, and Demigod Fu is only here to assist as a fighter.

As a principled researcher, she clearly wasn’t planning to rely on others for everything—though the previous maggot comparison made the meeting again somewhat odd.

Through the strange sensation of crossing space, Lisa surveyed the emerald glow flickering in the distant mist, taking a deep breath.
